    Yeah, like you said, this is a big theme in country music, to make simple sounding lyrics, that are really about something else. The Gambler isn't telling him how to play poker; he is telling him how to live his life.

    Ray Charles got into country music in the later part of his singing career. He said he loved the stories.
    He also did a duet with Willie Nelson that is fantastic when you are in the mood for country again. "Seven Spanish Angels." Willie seems almost nervous to be on stage with such a legend.
