Best defenders of this generation is european, same for next generation...
      Problem is not europeans can't jump (lol, just replace euro by you know what and it all makes sense what he was thinking). it's nba rules exploited by foul merchants, refs letting it go, and US formation biased towards offense and individual performance rather than D or tactics.

      They're literally the one seed with no other all star level player unlike jokic having murray and arguably the best starting 5 in the league wtf do you mean he doesn't have the same effect on winning? Without SGA thunder are not even a playoff team, without jokic nuggets are still a 44 win team 😂

    • @blazefactor6849
      @blazefactor6849 Před měsícem +1

      @@TheOmniscientHuman First of all, the Thunder aren't currently the 1-seed. That's the Twolves, with both the Nuggets and the Thunder being tied a single win below them.
      Second, funny you say that, given the exact opposite is true for the Nuggets. Murray is good, but he's not the number one on any team above .500. AG and MPJ heavily rely on Jokic's output to get their value, and KCP isn't exactly an all-star. The reason they have the best starting 5 in the league is because Jokic brings out the best in literally all of the players he works with. His two-man game enables Murray, his connection with AG gives him massive value, and his ability to collapse the defense gives MPJ and KCP so many more opportunities to find shots. They function because he's out there.
      Now, I'm not saying that SGA isn't an insanely good player, and that he doesn't massively enable his team. However, the Thunder have been going at full blast for the majority of the season, whereas the Nuggets have been handling injuries and are still coasting and struggling to figure out their bench struggles. They're relatively close, but I'd still give Jokic the edge given the situation.

    There’s nothing wrong with changing your opinion when the evidence changes JJ. I was personally a believer in Wemby for ROTY, but I understand why at least at the time people were making the case for Chet. People who wanna burn you at the stake for changing your opinion act like they’ve never changed their opinion about anything in their lives. Just keep doing you and keep giving us good content.

      But the truth is Wemby was ALWAYS better than Chet and more deserving of ROY. Everyone could see that except, for some reason, these pundits. Wemby had to create a giant chasm between Chet and him for everyone to finally acknowledge what we all could see. But it's not fair to Wemby that he needs to be THAT much better for people to finally accept what was already true before.

    Another really underrated thing with what Wemby is doing on the defensive end is that not only is he out-blocking everyone he is fouling far less those who are closest to him and it's even crazier when you consider his combined stock numbers. This is nuts for any player in the league and let alone the fact rookies are normally super foul prone

    I think people hear stats and say stuff like "cherrypicked" but I think what they really say is not that he's the greatest ever, it's that this player is a type of player we've never seen and who knows what his teams will even look like because he's capable of a combination of things no other player has really been able to do.

    Also appreciate the discussion of athleticism in the Jokic segment. He's an elite level athlete at everything except vertical / lateral explosiveness. He's actually super quick in his footwork, he's fast in a straight line, he has the best hands and best coordination in the game, while being the best thinker of the game the last 4 years with the best control of the game as well.

    Jokic leads SGA in:
    True shooting, PER, defensive WS, WS/48, BPM, OBPM, DBPM, VORP, offRtg, defRtg, usage%.
    Shai is ahead in total WS and offensive WS, where Jokic is #2. That's it.

    The “court mapping” reference you made is something that in football⚽️ it is taught early that you should pick your head up whilst you play, scan the field, calculate in antecipation, then make a decision, players that can master this can never be outplayed by athleticism or just skills, the mental game is the tier players like Messi/ Jokic; Zidane/Rondo; Luka/De Bruyne; players with spacial awareness and playmaking hability render scorers useless
