Exploring the inception of Klutch Sports and the qualities crucial in building his team would provide valuable context. A glimpse into Rich’s typical day and how his street knowledge applies to the corporate world could offer a unique perspective. Stories about meeting Mav Carter, the initial days in LA, and navigating the corporate landscape at CAA would enrich the narrative. Additionally, encounters with other notable figures on his journey to becoming a power broker would add depth to the book.

I’m immersed in Rich Paul’s book and find it compelling, but it feels like the narrative could extend beyond its current scope. While it effectively captures a small part of Rich’s life, a sequel could delve into broader aspects, offering inspiration for those facing similar struggles.
Additionally, exploring Rich’s journey through the corporate landscape and highlighting stories of triumph could resonate with a larger audience. Meeting LeBron was pivotal, yet it shouldn’t overshadow his profound impact on the sports agent business through hard work and transcendent business strategies. Which is why I think he shouldn’t avoid talking about him but leaning into that part of his life. Serendipity happened but he still worked hard. It’s ok to get an opportunity.

Probably not best to divulge too much nba information at this point compared to 20 years down the line when front office guys and other agents are not doing the job.
Signing 900m this past summer is absurd. And I would love to hear the story on him dropping Ben Simmons as a client.

For all of you insinuating or just saying essentially that “rich said nothing” in this interview, I have to either conclude that A.) You did not comprehend well or care to comprehend, B.) The subtle cultural inferences he was constantly making just went over your head, or C.) You’re just trolling. Throughout the interview his main points seemed to be about how him growing up in the inner city served as a guide for him to navigate this life, and that he uses many of the principles he learned from there (including his code of ethics) to help shape his current business model. He was constantly eluding to the crabs in a barrel mentality within the black community and how much more can be accomplished if we did not have this (his story about his friend in the steel business or how Rich Kleiman called him following the 1+1 deal, etc.). He talked about how although he had to essentially build this from the grown up, mentorship and apprenticeship is vital for becoming what you aspire to be when it’s offered, you just have to see an inspiration as someone to learn from and not simply competition. He also references how that mentality stems from inner city trauma. He talks about the work it takes to build a business and how he was a pioneer of the business landscape in the agency game. He talks about the importance of trust in these business relationships and how his moral code can allow for a more trusting partnership with clients, and in turn that trust is typically rewarded with better outcomes (cite: the Eric Bledsoe story, the AD story, etc.). And much more. So I would challenge you all to actually listen to comprehend, recognize implicit biases or certain cultural ignorances you may have, and then rewatch the interview and soak up game 💯

Great interview, JJ’s starting to get pretty well rounded with his guests. I just think he should get some older players, I’d love to see Tmac on here.

🎉RP jacket self-promotion product placement is good for biz. Not sure where his one liner fits, "My grandmother had 12 kids. My mom had 3 kids. Does That Make My Mom Less of a Woman???" weird analogy.

JJ got paid for nothing in podcast. His job was to nod his only. Rich spoke the whole interview without any questions asked. Rich is a good story teller. Now I want the book.
