Kaiba's bad experience with stairs was from the 4kids arc where he had to climb a ridiculous number of stairs to get to Noah while ranting about how much he hated stairs and wanted to cripple the guy who invented stairs.
Yes. Little Kuriboh took that footage of Kaiba walking up stairs & turned it into a character motivation for why he would go onto build a giant elevator into space in the movie lol

The duel between Jaden and Yugi in the final episode of GX ended on a cliffhanger and we never really get to see who actually won leaving it only to interpretation, although most people think Yugi won.
True. It could've gone either way, though thematically it makes more sense for jaden to win since he's "the next king of games".

In The Darkside of Dimensions movie. Kaiba actually does have an elevator that is linked to a Kaiba Corp satellite. Don't know why I still, but it's funny how the abridged series links that to something that may possibly happen in the future.
I mean it gives a good explanation to why the hell he later built that elevator
2:28 it’s continuing the joke from when kaiba and the others where stuck in the virtual world and kaiba had to go up a ridiculous amount of stairs.
He quoted that the wive of the guy who created the stairs would leave him to be with the guy who created the elevator cause everyone knows elevators are much sexier than stairs.
Joey didn't punch Atem because he used the seal that took Yugi. He did it to snap Atem out of his self pity phase.
Eh, a little of both I feel like. I mean Yami's actions were pretty fucked up, but I think Joey (at least in the sub) was like, we don't have time to cry about it, we have a mission now: we have to save Yugi. Get your ass up & go save him.

So anime-wise this is the 1st time Yami got straight up outplayed and lost a full duel and Kaiba more or less went off on him the same way
He was outploted, Rafael always had the perfect 2 set cards to make the perfect counterplay. That why I hate this filler duels, all of them, they are not clever AT ALL with this stuff
Essentially, yes. Yugi beat him in the first episode of the anime, beat Pegasus (who beat Kaiba), winning the Duelist Kingdom tournament & earning the title "king of games." Kaiba's big goal is to get his revenge by being the first to beat Yugi & prove that he is the best duelist in the world. Raphael beat him to the punch. Kaiba can't believe that "some random scrub" casually beat Yugi like it was nothing. He feels cheated & has lost respect for Yugi...Yami, whatever
It's been so many years since they came out but the stuff after 70 still feels like the "new" ygotas episodes to me

If you get a chance, check out the original scene when Kaiba finds out about Yugi's loss. LK was really on point
People don't understand that the point of Atem losing was so people can understand how important Yugi is to Atem's drive and confidence. Yugi is his reason for living and staying confident. Yugi is underestimated by a lot of fans but he is the MVP and pulls everybody together.
Yugi is his reincarnation but also the other part of his soul and his soulmate. Atem clinched to darkness when he was a pharaoh, he can harness dark powers and it makes him dark. Yugi counterbalances him and Atem is very obedient to Yugi.
Yugi represents light and hope. That is why his soul room showed innocence, he balances out the darkness. Yugi is also capable of ancient magic like his counterpart but Yugi is more of a healer. Yugi knows how to help Atem the way Atem helps bring out Yugi's confidence.
The Atem we have seen has been the Atem who changed through Yugi's influence. When Yugi is not around then Atem can become dark.
We have seen it many times that Yugi in reality brings out his humanity. Nobody else can do that for him except for Yugi. Atem has relationships with Yugi's friends but they are more acquaintances in his mind. Atem does not really like Kaiba but he respects him. Atem respects Yugi's friends cause they respect Yugi. Atem is Yugi's protector, brother, father and also his soulmate.
The changing color is not real. He just did that. His hair is a turquoise ish color

Let that be a lesson to writers: it's ok to let your main character lose. In fact, it can make for really compelling stories.
@@marvelsandals4228 yeah. It’s too bad that yami only loses against pegasus and yugi. It’d be interesting if he lost more times. I wish he actually had lost to kaiba at least once. Like with Naruto and sasuke, Naruto would lose a lot of times against sasuke, but he also won against sasuke several times, and in their last fight, it was a tie. And Since the oricalcos arc is filler, I don’t even count it as a real fight between Rafael and yami.
you have no idea how heart breaking it was, to see the pharaoh yeet his own monsters he cared for just to win, then we lost yugi.
Yeah, Dark Magician Girl looks shocked & sad, then dies it's like "damn, that's fucked up." You know...let's just ignore the fact that sacrificing weak monsters to summon stronger ones isn't a normal mechanic that all the characters use every episode

@@nnnnmhughuuhhjiijj9457 I did appreciate seeing Yugi/Yami lose for once, and have the plot be about Yami and his friends trying to rescue Yugi and set everything back to normal. It was a good idea I think, but some elements of the story were weird for sure

I like that every single thing that made Yugi lost his soul was the farao's fault, every thing was avoidable.
That’s season 0 (and early manga) yami yugi for ya. Having penalty games that were pretty harsh and mean. He even played a shadow game with kaiba in their first duel and when kaiba lost, yami turned him into a trading card and made an illusion of him being attacked and killed by monsters. And when the illusion ended, yami made it so that kaiba would have nightmares about it for months. And at their 2nd duel, when kaiba loses, yami mind crushes him and puts him in a coma for 6 months. It’s really yami’s fault that pegasus was able to easily take over kaibacorp because of kaiba being stuck in a coma. And yami killed a guy by lighting him on fire, he stole a kid’s soul, and many other crazy stuff
The bad experience Kaiba had with stairs was during the Noah arc, when he had to walk up a mountain.

The point is: He’s the star of the Pokémon anime, the Red of that series basically. He’s not canon to mainline Pokémon games but that’s not what Yami is talking about here. He’s comparing himself to the main character of the Pokémon anime, Ash.

This duel was crazy first time yugi legit looses
Not including the 2 times he gave up (to Kaiba, because Yugi feared Kaiba might die if he lost, & then to Rebecca, who is ironically in this arc too, because he wanted to let her win)
Oh yeah Watapon card is real. Yugi mentioned pharaoh was being season 0 evil. You should check it out, it's more dark and involve other games than cards.
In season 0, Yami IS kind of evil. He behaves a lot like Yami Bakura. Yugi has no awareness that he exists, then at random times Yami possesses his body to play a shadow game with someone, then basically tortures them if they lose (like making them experience a nightmare in which mosnters tear them to shreds). Afterwards, Yugi wakes up the next day, with gaps in his memory, not remembering anything that happened. The only thing that makes him not 100% evil is that he usually appears when Yugi or one of his friends is being bullied & the people he tortures are jerks who probably deserve it.

Atem should've just lost but his pride as a Pharaoh pulled him in.
From what I recall, in the show Raphael had the same character, claiming that he was good & Yami was evil. Raphael cares deeply for his monsters ("his family") & refuses to allow any of them to die, unlike Yami who routinely sacrifices his monsters. Yami felt like he was going to lose the duel unless he played the Seal of Oricalchos & was too stubborn to let that happen. Yami felt like maybe if he lost the duel, that would prove Raphael was right. His "pride" as a duelist was at stake...or whatever. Ironically, by activating the card, he proved Raphael was right about him after all: he is evil (or he has evil in his heart or whatever)
Honestly I forgot about the punch Joey gave Yami, but now that I remember, I always loved watching that scene.

Jaden actually won the duel, in the first episode of GX, it specifically calls him the next king of games, so he'd have to have won.
I mean it only means he took up the title from the current day King of Games he was fighting a Yugi of the past.
So he could have lost just as easily, honestly it’s more likely he did loose.
Otherwise there wouldn’t have been a point to cliffhanger the ending.
@@BigHeadClan Most stories have cliffhanger endings, it makes people think about it more and come up with their own ideas about what happens next.
Even if he did take the title from the current Yugi, the current Yugi is more skilled than the one Jaden duelled, which is proven by that one thing. Jaden also fought and defeated the god of darkness, which apparently defeated every other person in the world, so he's definitely skilled enough. Even the god cards wouldn't worry him too much after the phantasms, and he'd beaten Yugi's pre god card deck already.

Also, this duel has a lot of controversy in the fandom, people crying and/or gettin angry because Atem lost even if it is filler (but to be fair, Yami losing in from of everybody kinda undermines the build up for the climax of the show...), some people say it's great, and some people say that Rafael is the most Deus Ex Machina character since in ever turn he ALWAYS gets the perfect 2 set of card to make the perfect combo to beat the hand Yami has. MY PROBLEM IS, of all the decks they could made Yami lost against, they did it with the shitty Guardian Deck? REALLY!? Nobody in the history of ever actually won any duel with that deck
wdym?...the Guardian deck at least is a proper archetype whereas Yugi's deck is one that wouldn't win a single game against *any* archetype.
The YGOTAS explanation of how he lost is actually pretty reasonable...Yugi keeps winning because he makes up new rules and effects on the spot so he got beaten clean for the first time by the first person in the show that actually knows the rules of the game. Rules that not even a super computer could comprehend, now that I think about it your're right about him being Deus Ex Machina because no human being could actually know the convoluted rules to this game
@@AgeofJP ok, go to Master Duel with a Guardian Deck and face any Dark Magician Deck against somebody with half a brain, it would would your ass 99 times every 100. And I was talking about the actual show, the MF has that op card of drawing 2 cards per turn and it's always the perfect counter combo. If people say Yami with his plot armour and Millenium Puzzle broken magic hability it's too much, that was worse BY FAR.
@@AmarantFFO yugi doesn't have a "dark magician deck"...his deck is like a Frankenstein's Monster that either revolves around sacrificing Gazelle, Kuriboh and The Celtic Warrior to summon a God card and if they aren't in his deck he usually wins on some bullshit strategy that works in the anime but not in the game, in other words he's cheating. In season 4 they conveniently gave him a monster that he can fuse into a new OP card for every duel. Also you're comparing current YGO meta with an archetype that came before GX was even a thing...the dark magician archetype got loads of additions since then and wasn't nearly as good back then. There were no "ancient rules" and the other spell cards that allow you to summon him from your deck so the dark magician himself was pretty trash tier at the time whereas the Guardian deck was usable well into GX. Maybe not a meta deck but far from trash

I think fans are also mad about Yami randomly deciding to turn a regular card game with no stakes into a shadow game in which the loser will lose their soul. Raphael wasn't hurting anyone. He just criticized Yami & called him evil. Even if he won the duel, that would mean he went out of his way to take Raphael's soul (basically killing him). Seem a LITTLE extreme for the so called hero. None of this shit would have happened if Yami hadn't done that.
I don't mind Yami losing to Raphael personally. When you think about it, Raphael, not Yami, trusted in the heart of the cards, meanwhile Yami had no faith in his cards & sacrificed all of them to play an evil card that would give him a slight edge. I think "destiny" decided that Raphael, not Yami, deserved to win. It is fitting.
Yami playing the seal and then losing Yugi’s soul is probably the only good part of this season

Yes, and it also showed how important Yugi is and why he was the MVP and underestimated. Yugi showed a lot of insight and he showed that has the power to heal. People don't realize it but Yugi completes Yami. In order for Yami to have peace and fulfill his destiny he needs Yugi's morality.

Totally random, but I just want to say that you're the first person reacting to this series I've found that doesn't start every episode by spending forever trying to identify all the references put into the cards scrolling past the screen at the beginning. I appreciate that a lot, like it's nice that everyone else wants to get every single joke, but those aren't even really jokes, it's just pictures that have been photoshopped onto yugioh cards. The episodes pausing for several minutes while the people reacting try to name every single picture and then explain where they're from is just... boring. And half the time they focus so much on the stupid cards, they miss the actual joke that's being said to open the episode.
Anyways, I like that I don't need to skip past several minutes of that to get to the actual episode with you. Seriously, I guess I'm glad the other reacts are having fun with that bit, but it's really annoying lmao
