hii, this video is a reaction to yu gi oh abridged episode 81. I have never watched the original yugioh series. I've always wanted to get into YuGiOh and thought watching YGOTAS would be fun as a blind reaction.

Everybody loves Seto Kaiba. He’s the best, and the entire dark side of dimensions movie is based in how awesome he is.

Spoiler alert for those who care about the plot of a Yugi movie:
In that movie, Kaiba designs a perfect virtual reality simulation where he duels Yami. When he wins, he gets mad at his engineers for having an AI that isn't as good at card games as the REAL Yami. He then crushes a Kaiba Corp official water bottle, then promptly tells his secretary to "fire whoever designed this bottle," because it wasn't up to Kaiba Corp standards.
He has the whole company searching for the lost Millennium Puzzle. Once they find it, he then travels to his privately owned space station (suck it NASA) via a damn elevator to use a special machine to mathematically analyze the Puzzle so he could solve it...all just to duel Yami again.
At the end of the movie, he INVENTS A TIME MACHINE, and sends his ass back in time to ancient Egypt, during the era when Atem was alive...just to duel him again.
Because he's Seto f*cking Kaiba.
A bigger upgrade in his character compared to how he was in the pyramid of light.

After all, Yugi is still around, but Kaiba seemingly has no interest in dueling him, he is hell bent on dueling the "other" Yugi who he tries to reach by solving the Puzzle and later time traveling to ancient Egypt. Doesn't that imply Kaiba has accepted that yes, Yugi was possessed by the undead spirit of a pharaoh? Maybe in the manga Kaiba is a bit more self aware about magic, but in the anime dub he's in complete denial about all of it, insisting that Yugi and his friends are just superstitious. I guess he finally got over that lol
I mean...despite the many retcon of that movie about the lore...the movie it's really about how much a little crying beach Kaiba is, "OMG, I cant cope that the Pharaoh it's not longer here"
The line that Kaiba actually gives before he destroys the mirror knights in the dub is so similar to the abridged but probably even better.
Kaiba: "So you've got a dweeb army. Am I supposed to be scared to attack?"
Dartz: "Only if destroying an innocent soul concerns you."
Kaiba: "Nah. As the president of a major corporation, I have to do that every day."
"Kaiba honey, please"
The whole speech that Dartz was saying to Atem about giving up was written because at the time the episode was being written little kuriboh himself was going through a bad case of despression which he has managed to get through because of the love of his friends, family and fans.
I think it works well in the context of this show tho, specifically the abridged series. The ongoing joke with abridged Yami (or Atem, whatever you want to call him, I mean he doesn't even know his own name at this point) is that he's a self-absorbed dick to everyone around him, including his friends, not much better than the villains, which tbh is more in line with the og character in the manga and season 0. I guess abridged Yami had his character arc much later in the series, it took this whole situation with losing Yugi for him to finally start appreciating the things he took for granted. After Dartz' speech, he is acting a lot more like the canon Yami, a hero with noble intentions. This situation is personal for him. He's not just trying to help his friends or "the world," he's trying to correct a mistake he made, that he deeply regrets. This situation is HIS fault and was avoidable. He got Yugi into this mess, but he has a chance to bring him back.

As abridged Kaiba once said "I'm Seto freaking Kaiba. I'm the real reason anybody watches this show." I have always thought he was the coolest character, especially as a little kid watching the 4kids dub back in the old days, I even made a Blue-Eyes themed deck with lots of dragons haha
If there's one universally beloved Yu-Gi-Oh character, it's Seto Kaiba.
Even my friends who have never seen anything Yu-Gi-Oh say their favorite character is Seto Kaiba. So weird.
Seto made the whole show better with his tech if not for Seto we would be watching people play cards on a portable table or the ground
Dartz' deck is, HANDS DOWN, the most broken deck I have ever seen:
-The Seal of Orichalcos grants all of his monsters additional 500 attack points
-Orichalcos Deuteros (the second layer) gives Dartz 500 life points every turn for each monster he has on the field
-Orichalcos Tritos (the third layer) makes his monsters immune to Spell and Trap cards
-While not shown in this, he has a monster named Orichalcos Gigas that can be brought back to life, and every time it returns, it gets an additional 500 attack points
-Mirror Knight Calling summons four knights that has the same attack of the foes' monsters. And to destroy them, you have to attack them twice, as the shields are sacrificed for the first attack
-Orichalcos Kyutora can absorb all attacks directed at Dartz, and once it gets destroyed, it evolved into Orichalcos Shunoros that has the combined attack of every damage Kyutora absorbed (in this case 20 000)
-Divine Serpent Geh has infinite attack points and Dartz can still play even after losing all of his life points

Final fantasy 7 machinabridged is the only abridged series that I don't remember ever seeing a copyright block put on it anywhere
If tvtropes is to be believed, the series is actually approved by Square Enix, which is why they don’t need to add a disclaimer at the beginning of every episode.

I haven’t seen the anime since childhood, but from what I know it’s like... the way they look “on the inside”? Or something? Like, their souls are dark, so they became freaky monsters.
I spent my entire childhood watching abridged series. They're my comfort zone. So watching someone else enjoy them is an awesome experience for me. This is legit my favorite channel, at this point, and it's so awesome seeing you have fun with this series and others. Keep up the great work, Melon!
Just two things I want to clear up. The name “Atem” (pronounced Uh-tem) is Yami Yugis actual name, darts just mispronounced it no surprise there. And the whole thing about how many bad things he’s done since being brought back to life that darts said wasn’t untrue. Season 0 (before the duel monsters series) all the way until battle city, at least in the original subbed version, Atem was actually kind of a prick. He was really content with killing people and starting shadow games, and cooled down to just being a sociopath. It took a while for Yugi to kind of change him to the chill version you see after beating Pegasus
True. Idk I just keep calling him "Pharaoh" or Yami (as in Yami Yugi, or "dark Yugi," as in Yugi's dark side, whatever), since not even he knows his own name or think of himself as "Atem" since he lost his memories.
Yeah, in the manga and season zero Yami's personality and actions are almost identical to Yami Bakura lol. He is a sadistic horror movie villain who hijacks Yugi's body (without Yugi's awareness) to get his revenge on anybody who annoys him, like school bullies, and dishes out street justice with his OP magic powers.
For example, he makes Kaiba experience a nightmare in which he is torn to pieces by angry duel monsters. For anyone who has seen Naruto, he basically used the Tsukuyomi on Kaiba, I mean that's mental torture ffs, he did stuff like that at the end of every episode!
I've never met anyone who doesn't love Kaiba, come on now !
quick note, the next episode has a post credit scene so don't stop until right at the end.

I think that the Naruto one from Ninjabridge still might be a good choice for the next abridged series. It is also not that long. :D

Yami literally had to have brought the card for the ultimate dragon/luster soldier fusion monster to the duel, which as the anime already established requires cards ONLY Kaiba would have to summon.
I just watched your episode 80 reaction and was just about to comment I can't wait to see your reaction to 81 and here it is! This one is my favorite episode. Dartz's voice acting is top tier, it's hilarious and quotable af, and surprisingly some great writing compared to the dub with the Yami vs Dartz parts.
Agreed. I love the part where Dartz says "only if destroying a soul concerns you." The real joke is that this exact scene REALLY HAPPENED in the 4kids dub, only Kaiba's original reply was even funnier. This is one of the rare moments when dub Kaiba had a BIGGER ego than abridged Kaiba
Littlekuriboh also has Yu-Gi-Oh season 0 for only three episodes and crapsule monsters which is also three episodes. I also like evabridged which is real short.
Kaiba definitely doesn't suck, he's like the coolest character lol. You should react to a compilation of Kaiba savage lines, he has the best ones in the series by far

Part of me is really tempted to learn the new Yugioh rules. I checked out after GX when I saw the cards on motorcycle, but recently I have been getting back into it. Side note, i kind of prefer the old fashion game where I could set something up for 8 turns later, and now it feels like the game has very few turns, but those turns take forever.

Blue-Eyes isn't the most powerful archetype in Yu-Gi-Oh!, but it's still really popular since they haven't stopped making support for it.
Kaiba is an amazing character. He is the Vegeta of Yu-Gi-Oh.

Vegeta beat goku 1 vs 1 both times they fought. He squished goku and broke all his bones the first time and goku had to have 3 people help him and the second time he just straight up beat him as majin. But I agree as rivals both kaiba and vegeta are way cooler than the main characters
The episode title is a reference to the Tabletop RPG meme "Rocks fall, everyone dies", where an annoyed Game Master decides to suddenly kill all Player Characters.
Kaiba is basically the second best duelist of the entire series even beating other protagonists. The only reason people hate him is cause of his personality, attitude, and that he never truly beat yugi/yami.

Kaiba is one of the most popular douchbag characters in animation, right next to vegeta. I think what your bro meant was that kaiba’s deck technically sucks now by today’s dueling standards.
The sad reality is that these decks that you see in the show are about 4 generations-going on 5-outdated.

The worst part about the speech? In regards to Abridged Yami, Dartz was RIGHT. Until more recently, Yami Yugi treated everyone as underneath him, barely even noticing when his own partner, the one he SHARES A BODY WITH, was in pain (like during the Yami Marik battle). Its only in this duel that he finally realizes that, despite all that, despite his mistreatment, they all stuck with him.

kaiba is cool but is deck sucks yup, only works on anime logic in real life it doesnt. Even the blue eyes deck in real life is not good at all but can be REALLY EXPENSIVE AS WELL THE DARK MAGICIAN DECK MORE SOME TIMES THEN THE META DECKS.
