hii, this video is a reaction to yu gi oh abridged episode 83. I have never watched the original yugioh series. I've always wanted to get into YuGiOh and thought watching YGOTAS would be fun as a blind reaction.

That brief voice change with Mokuba was because of how they changed his voice actor with this season in the English dub. Tfs did the same joke with the Bardock special with Freeza, where he had to clear his throat, which was also a reference to how his original English dub va was changed years later 😅
Yeah and that was the first appearance of Freeza in abridged and of course in the dub of the Bardock movie Freeza is voiced by the og dub actor, so they had LK do an impression of that raspy voice for a second, but then he switches to a more natural regal British voice more like the actor from the Kai dub that came out later.

@@marvelsandals4228 Actually, that raspy voice was Lani doing his best Linda Young (Voice for Frieza before Kai) impression because he was originally supposed to voice Frieza, but after LK submitted his Captain Ginyu Audition, they were impressed with his Voice for Frieza. So much so that they decided to bring LK in for Frieza instead of Lani.
@@michaelcarlton1484 yes, you and @Fireball12 are right, it was Lani not LK, but after the cough it swaps to LK's Freeza voice. In a way it is very similar to this Mokuba joke
In the original, Yugi/Yami said that the card reminded him of one of his friends. The card is called something like underdog and Yugi was a bit ashamed to admit he means Joey.
The "Mokuba, make sure Wheeler is late" is an original line from the anime by the way. It so hilarious to me how much Kaiba hates Joey in the original as well.

@@wesleydamen2018 To piggyback further on this, the kid's deck being nothing but monsters is a throwback to Joey in the first few episodes, when he always lost because his deck was just monsters and Yugi's grandpa has to teach him to git gud.

In case you didnt get it. This is also a filler arc. That's the joke at the begining with bakura being ready to play his role as main antagonist but then being cut by the narrator with: "BUT FIRST, THERE'S GONNA BE A FILLER ARC"

I'm pretty sure by this point, it might be obvious what that bit with Mokuba's voice sounding nothing like usual was about, but just like every other time they've had a voice change in the Abridged series, it's a reference to how his voice actor changed at this point in the dub.

@@AmarantFFO Well, yeah, I personally didn't hate Sevens. Heck, if anything, I admire it for actually making better use of its supporting cast than any other series. (I've heard the sequel is doing that too, but I really don't have much interest in it) But even if I hadn't, all I really had to do was look up Yuga's profile to get a reminder of how many duels he lost.

2:09 The narrator wasn't talking about the last filler arc (Season 4 with Dartz), he was talking about THIS filler arc (the Kaiba Corp Grand Prix with Zigfried). It's the last filler arc before the final arc of the og series (Season 5 with Bakura).
5:30 For a couple seconds Mokuba is voiced by a new actor, then he coughs, and goes back to his normal voice (Little Kuriboh). This was a joke about the og dub of yugioh. Apparently the old voice actor for Mokuba was replaced and that was the first scene where the new actor has a line. Their voices are also quite different so it is pretty jarring. After the joke, Mokuba is voiced by LK again.
11:48 I think this joke was also about the og series. Its easy to forget but each duel usually dragged on for multiple episodes, with plenty of standing around and inner monologues, so Yugi is guilty of this too.
21:01 This did happen in the original, well, sort of. The card is called "Heart of the Underdog," and it reminds Yugi of Joey, but he is too embarrassed to admit it to Joey directly. LK just exaggerated it a bit.
22:55 Again, this really happened, but its also a call back to an old joke. Yugi tricked Yami into going on a date with Tea at the last second by "tagging out" once the date started, and Yami freaked out the exact same way. So I suppose this is Yami's revenge (tagging out at an inconvenient moment). He's just blushing because he doesn't know what to say to Joey's question.
31:45 I don't think he got hacked. It was a joke about how long it took between the last episode and this one to come out. From what I recall his release schedule got a bit more consistent near the end of season 4, but there was a long wait for this one (I doubt COVID helped things).

I get the part about Baby Dragon since she isn't very into the game (...despite the Dark Magician Girl musical being her favorite, and all the times she has dueled, including the time she supposedly beat Joey in the first episode). The dog suit part however raises a few questions lol
Don't miss out on season 0 melon! It's by far the best abridging little kuriboh did! It only have 3 episodes and all 3 are glorious.
There's a bunch of hilarious non-sequiter skits that aren't tied to movies or episodes that little kuriboh would make for patreon or conventions. I personally love the one where Merrick Ishtar is wearing kitty cat ears for a rule 34 skit with Bakura. There's also iruka sensei creating his own one-piece abridged that I really like.
So here's a list of all the abridged movies:
1. The Other Abridged Movie. It may not be on his main channel, but people reuploaded it. This is the "Season 0" movie. The 3 Season 0 abridged episodes are still on his main channel.
BTW Season 0 is just a fan name for the first version of the Yugioh that's not about card games. Every episode/chapter is about a different game. It's well known for Kaiba's green hair and Yami being...evil. Btw in the Kaiba episode they play Duel Monsters for the first time and the author got tons of fanmail asking about how they can play the game, so the author decided to reboot the series as "the card game show" and they made the game irl. Anyway...
2. YGOTAS: The Movie.
3. BBT ABRIDGED MOVIE. As far as I know, this is the last movie he did and its amazing. Like the show he clearly improved the quality of the movies over time. You'll enjoy this one for sure.
Aside from those and maybe Season 0, he has made some music parodies like "Brooklyn Rage" which is a parody of Poker Face.

Also, for context, the tournament is to promote the opening of a Alaina Land in the US. The one that was shown up until now, was in Japan. The dub never explains this, so it comes off very confusing

So the original joke with pot of greed , is that in the show the characters had a bad habit of explaining how the cards worked, and pot of greed was explained almost every single time it was used [and played WAY too much] and it's more or less jabbing at that. And, the fact it was such a prolific card in actual competitive Yu-gi-oh.
What do you mean? I loved hearing what Pot of Greed (or POG) did every duel, especially in GX. OOOOOOH I love it in GX!
The best order to watch the movies is: the three episodes for Abridged Movie, the three episodes for season zero, the other abridged movie, card games for charity, and the three episodes for bonds beyond time. You can finish off with the three episodes for cr@psule monsters.
The thing about joey being oblivious was in the regular series too i think, i always kip this ark onr ewatches but the card is called Heart Of The Underdog so i think yugi did say ut reminds him of a dear friend in the show and joey didn't know that was him while everyone else laughed about him notunderstanding his bet bro loves him
The thing is, Blue Eyes decks are probably actually still played at tournaments. Blue Eyes has received a lot of support over the years. A deck that slaps a bunch of random dragons together probably won't do very well, but the thing about a Blue Eyes deck is that a good one will allow you to slap a ton of Blue Eyes White Dragons and/or Blue Eyes Alternative White Dragons on the field every turn, and you can use them to summon powerful Synchro and XYZ monsters like Galaxy-Eyes Prime Photon Dragon or Galaxy-Eyes Cipher that both have high stats AND absurd effects. The ban of Galaxy-Eyes Dark Matter Dragon really hurt it though. One of my favorite strategies used to be to use Cipher Dragon's effect to take control of one of my opponent's XYZ monsters, and since it's name also becomes Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragon, you could then use it to summon something like Dark Matter or Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Blade Dragon, thereby both removing one of your opponent's boss monsters in a way that is difficult for a lot of monsters to resist with their effects while also using their monster as materials to summon another of your own boss monsters. And then, after you've detached some of your Blue Eyes monsters from your XYZ monsters, you can easily summon them back onto the field from your graveyard with a variety of methods. You could easily clear their field on turn one with effects alone and then use your absurd stats to beat them on the first turn. No idea if this still holds up, but it used to be really good and used to do well at tournaments.

13:50 No, both Blue Eyes Dragon and Dark Magician decks are very viable, they are not the strongest, for sure, but they are really good with proper deck building. Hell, before the link summoning Anaconda was banned, Dark Magician decks were kinda OP for how easy you could summon quintuple magician
30:55 Atem is technically the worst in % because of the total number of duels he had during the series, the more current the anime, the faster the duel is, there is no 6 episodes duels like Atem vs Kaiba in S3, now duels last half an episode at best. ALSO, the wiki counts both Yugi's losses as the same as Atem (even tho, Yugi gave up 3 duels that Atem was winning) and shenanigans as well, like the second duel of the show with Pegasus saying "ups, you didn't beat me in 15 minutes, you lost" while Atem still had plays.
But at the end, matters little, and Atem and Yusei (MC of the 3 series of Yugi) are probably the best in terms of forward thinking and setting traps and all that (even tho, the power of the script it's really the main reason here)
The win/loss rate is true, but that's mostly because all other protagonists duel waaaaay more.
Except yusei from 5ds and playmaker (yusaku) from Vrains - both of whom have only lost offscreen in flashbacks.
Yuma from Zexal has the most loses (in the double digits), but they're offscreen before the events of the series. In terms of onscreen duels, yuma has less loses than yugi - and yuma literally beat both god and satan in his show.
Jaden from GX has the most duels at like 200 something (including offscreen duels), so while he does lose more times - the win/loss ratio is way better.
And yuya from arc v is... complicated. Yuya by himself lost less than yugi and dueled a bit more - but yuya is only a 4th of a person called "z-arc" for plot reasons. So if we count the other pieces of z-arc as part of yuya's win/loss ratio yuya lost much more than yugi but had waaaaaaay more duels, only second to jaden. So his win/loss ratio is still better even when including the versions of him who lost several times.
Yeah Yugi does cannonically have the more loses then the other MC's. I think Yusei from 5ds is the only undefeated one

In the German Dub, the card is called "Herz des Außenseiters", which means as much as "Heart of the outsider", while in the japanese Original, it's "Heart of the retarded". 😁
The OG YGOAS movie is heavily dated, made before LK started adding music and what not.
there are many great dragon cards and decks actually. Dragon type in the yugioh fandom is known for having the most support out of every other type except for maybe warriors. That said, I hope you find a deck you like cause like you said the game's really fun.
Well it would certainly be difficult to beat anyone using a deck based off of what a character like Yugi or Kaiba used in the show, as she probably realized seeing some of the cooky combos people can do to make an unbeatable board or OTK

Duel Links and I use Rocket Arrow Express and the rule of that card effect is that you cannot activate cards or effects, or set any other cards but you can still set another normal monster in attack position even if the rule forbids you to do so.....
You're not gonna get many views on that stuff, so i suggest you watch it off cam at some point if you want more ygotas content, but Martin also abridged a chunk of Capsule Monsters, called Cr@psule Monsters on the channel. It's from when yugioh tired to rip off pokemon

The joke about the card relating Joey was an actual thing in the show. The card’s original name is Heart Of The Underdog and it’s special ability allows you to keep drawing normal monster cards till you get something that isn’t a monster without a special ability.
The card can be pretty good with specific decks but outside of that it’s a pretty useless card. The running gag in this episode and this abridged version is that everyone knows who yugi is relating the card to except for Joey.

Sadly Yugi has the lowest win/loss ratio of all the protags. Mainly because his duels are multiple pet episodes so he has a lower win count than most of the later characters. He also has 1 voluntary surrender against Rebecca, 1 tie against Joey although he dropped to 0 first, and three losses via plot bullshit against Pegasus, Kaiba, and Raphael.
