No. 9 was one of the greatest moments in NRL history, the Broncos had the game won, up by 4 points and just had to hold out that one set in the last minute and they'd win. The play you see there is in the last 10 seconds, with Feldt planting the ball down *as the siren is blaring*, bringing the scores to 16-16. There is so much story to that game, it is ridiculous, and can hardly be expressed in a CZcams comment; Thurston toiling for 10 years at the club after losing the GF in 2005, the Cowboys getting defeated in the Finals the 3 years prior due to iffy ref decisions at crucial moments, Ben Hunt the Broncos young-gun dropping the ball off the kick off in 'Golden Point'(First points scored wins the game) extra time, the plays shown in this video... 2015, the Cowboys' first (and so far, only) Premiership.

#8 saw Sam Burgess break his cheekbone in the first play of the game in that tackle you saw. He then led from the front winning best on ground despite the fact his face could have caved in at any time and led the Rabbitohs to their first title in 42 years.

11:00 that hit on Freddy would result in a head injury assessment these days and would be categorised as grade 1 and out of the game for 11 days. This was the pivotal moment in the game, every roosters player rose another level and went on to seal the victory. This victory was the first grand final win since 1975 so it was a 27 year drought for the club.
14:04 that try led to a 16-all scoreline as Thurston (No.7) missed the conversion, it went to over time (golden point is the term as any point scoring either by try or field goal wins it for the side) and Thurston kicked the field goal for a 1 point win. This game is touted as one of the best but in my opinion it was only thrilling in the last 10mins.
17:05 cronk played this game with a broken scapula. It was kept a secret for a whole week as he injured it at previous games and had to pretty much sign a waiver and got some needling to play in this game. It is up there as one of the toughest thing a player sacrifices. The guy who had the no.7 on his jersey was put on the field to be his body guard so that he didn't injure his shoulder any further. The opposition was Cronks former club who he played for since his nrl debut. He was instrumental in the roosters winning back to back in 2018 & 2019

The two best grand finals are cowboys vs broncos in 2015 and panthers vs broncos 2023. It’s hard to give you the full context of the game cause there’s so much history, rivalries and storylines. But both were insane to watch. You should check out extended highlights of both of them. Definitely check out state of origin tho and some recent history, that’s where players become legends.

Loving the videos. Your vids making me get back into the NRL again. I've been a Panthers supporter since I went to school in Penrith in 1991. Grand final winners. Before that year they were usually on the bottom of the table. Penrith is pretty much a working class city and it means a lot to the people there to win a Grand Final.
It is good to see that some of the huge profits (from gambling , enterntainment venue and retirement village) go back to the players. haaha. Which in a way benefits the whole area.

  • @TheGeneral92
    @TheGeneral92 Před 4 měsíci

    some context
webkie for the broncos played with broken arm, tough stuff a forward it the middle hitting the ball up.
cronk broke his collar bone the week before and played with it broken in the 2018 grand final
sam burgess broke his cheekbone in the first tackle of the grand final and played through.
that play by michael morgan for the cowboys was with 5 seconds to go, last roll of the dice down 16-12.
i'd react to the 2015 & 2023 grand finals they're considered the best, crazy scenes.
I followed panthers all those years back cause I liked the black jerseys too, pick us, lol who cares if we are winning rn, lol no one can accuse you of being a bandwaggoner, enjoy the good times while they last.

    Commenting as I watch 😊
The "porch light off" is a reference to a bit of Australian history.
Harold Holt was a prime minister here in the 60s. Whilst PM he disappeared at a beach in 1967. The Cronulla Sharks were admitted to the NSWRL in the same year
Until 2016 the sharks had never won a grand final and the running joke was waiting for a sharks premiership was akin to leaving the porch light on at Harold's house for when he got home...
Our sense of humour can be different 😂

Penalty tries are very rare as the ref has to be 100% certain a try would have been scored if the penalty hadn't been committed. If there's any doubt they will usually call it a professional foul which is just a regular penalty for the attacking side and the player that committed the foul is sin-binned.
Also as Tigers fan I have to talk about number 6 as its basically the best moment of my life, the score was 6-6 just before half time, the game had been pretty even but that play from Benji Marshall (who is now our coach but was only 20 years old at the time) put us up at half time and we went on to win. The guy who scored the try, Pat Richards, played the whole game with an injured ankle he sustained the week before. I highly recommend checking out a video of Benji's highlights, a lot of the flick passes and skills you see modern players doing began with him.

Yellow & red card's are used in the English super league but never have been used in Australian rugby league. It's either 10 finger's held up for 10 in the bin or a pointing gesture towards the change room's if a ref is to send a player off for the duration of the match.

  • @user-bx6br8ow7q

Games are played for 80mins regulation time. If scores are tired at end of this, the game enters golden point (extra time). First scoring point wins the game, a tweak to rules for finals to make it a try to win has made for a better spectacle.
In standard season golden point, you play an additional 10mins split in two 5 min halves, the first team to score wins. if still a draw at the end its considered a tie and the 2 competition points for a win are shared equally between the teams.
In finals there's no time limit in extra time, you need to score

  • @Hedriks
    @Hedriks Před 4 měsíci +2

At 15:25 that is a 'coat-hanger' tackle, illegal, and the penalty will be according to the ref. There have been some worse ones in many games. Any tackle above the chest, usually calls a penalty.
If a man is jumping for the ball, you're not allowed to tackle him in mid-air.
These rules have been instituted over the years in League AND Union.
The Big man No. 3 in the Green Raiders Jersey scoring, that is Mal Meninga, he went on to Coach the Queensland Maroons for State of Origin and also Coach for Australia.

They missed out on the 1989 Grand Final, one of the greatest. Raiders vs Tigers. It went to extra time with the Raiders winning in a comeback. The 1991 Grand Final is another that should have been on this list, another comeback victory for the Panthers over the Raiders after losing to the Raiders in the 1990 GF. Obviously this video was done before the 2023 Grand Final which would have been in the top 3. My top three in no particular order are 1989, 2015, and 2023.
Also Stephen Crichton has scored a try in 4 straight GFs. The 2023 GF was his 100th game and last one with Panthers. Now he is with the Bulldogs. As a Panthers fan he will be sorely missed.
Panthers jersey is the best. up until 1990 it was Brown and White before they went with the 'licorice all-sorts' colours.

    In regards to number 5
There was a dominate strom trio, Cameron Smith, Billy Slater and Cooper Cronk. Cooper wanted to leave for Sydney for family reasons and somehow Storm (Cameron Smith) turned on him for the decision.
That was a grand final match where Cooper was facing against his old side. But, he also had serious shoulder damage and was meant to sit out the game. He basically couldnt use his arm.
He ended up playing, directing his team around the field. His presence alone contributed to the win.

A penalty try is if foul play prevented a fair try. The attacking team gets the 4 points for the try, then a conversion attempt from in line with where the try is awarded for 2 points then they get a penalty kick from in front of the posts for another 2 points.

In all fairness though Melbourne lost their skipper a week earlier at the judiciary on suspension. That being the the goat Cameron smith. I still think we would've won, but this suspension did affect the storm.
