I recommend watching Ninh Explain the difference between rugby union and rugby league. In short Rugby union is what you may know and is played in US colleges. Rugby League (what is coming to Vegas) kind of mashes Rugby Union and American Football and is much easier to watch and explain to an American audience.

They're doing this every year for 5 years. You've gotta see 1 NRL game live in your life, but, to be honest, rugby league is better to watch on tv (as evidenced by crowd sizes at games). Conversely, AFL/ Aussie Rules is better to watch live than on tv.

You get to be in the action rather than straining to see the other end, or judge a forward pass. I'm not ragging on league, but attendance numbers don't lie. Maybe 10,000 at a game, but 100,000 within walking distance watching it at home, or in bars.
