    Regarding the ball and out of bounds, the ball has to be COMPLETELY over the line. So if the boundary umpire deems just a fraction of the ball ON the line then it's in play.

    13:19 in this goal, Didak uses a less common type of kick called a torpedo punt, where the ball is held slightly askew, and the kick imparts a rotation around the axis of travel - much like a quarterback’s spiral pass.

    The last goal by Lance Buddy Franklin ( who appeared nearly as much as Betts) was the best for mine. How great it was may not be obvious to the untrained eye, but he basically declared to every other male on the planet what’s your strength speed? Agility? endurance? Size? Strength? Skill? I can match or beat you on all fronts. Greatest athlete I’ve ever seen and yes the other goal he kicked was 70 metres…..off one step!

    Loving the content mate I'd highly recommend checking out this year's Sir Doug Nicholls round jersey's they are the indigenous design ones like that Adelaide one you liked with the crow on it keep it up dude! 🙂👍

  • @bjbolger
    @bjbolger Před 3 měsíci +4

    Gotta love how you're getting into our great game!
    The design on the guernsey you like is from an Indigenous round, also known as the Sir Doug Nicholls round, which is over the next two weekends. The first game is being played in Darwin right now (Thursday night) between Gold Coast Suns and Geelong Cats. Each team has its own design for these rounds.
    Looking forward to watching you learn more about AFL. You're already picking it up very quickly, and quite intuitively to boot!

  • @JackMcSomeone

    9:58 Those particular jerseys are made for the Indigenous Round in the AFL. Every team has a different design every year and most of the time, a player from that team will design the jersey

    “Banana” (or “check-side” in South Australia) kick is off the outside of the boot and curves away from you.

  • @user-bf8ud9vt5b
    @user-bf8ud9vt5b Před 3 měsíci +3

    You're correct, the player can be out of bounds but the ball has to remain in play. To be 'out of bounds', the entire ball has to be over the line. There are controversies where the ball looks to be out of bounds but the umpire doesn't call it.

  • @suemoore984
    @suemoore984 Před 2 měsíci +1

    The curved lines you see at each end are 50 metre lines, meaning that they indicate 50 metres from the goal posts. This means that the field is at least 150 metres long. AFL prescribes minimum length and width, so, if you watch a few matches at different grounds, you might notice different sizes. This can give a home ground advantage, especially if the visiting team is used to a wider field

    • @off1k
      @off1k Před 3 měsíci

      No he didn't, if he or anyone else had caught the ball again before he kicked it or it fell to the ground then yes it would be throwing. It's basically the same as dropping the ball on your foot, you could say he had a high ball drop ;)

    • @shmick6079
      @shmick6079 Před 3 měsíci +2

      @@off1k wasn’t a drop though, he threw it in the air. The error was confirmed by one of the umpires on the radio the week after the game.

    • @off1k
      @off1k Před 3 měsíci

      @@shmick6079
      It technically was a drop, it deliberately went straight from his hand to his foot. it didn't land on the ground or anywhere else, that is a key factor.
      If someone "fumbles" the ball while being tackled when running, it's holding the ball (considering prior opportunity) but if fumbled onto the foot then it's a kick even though it wasn't deliberately "dropped" to the foot, it technically was a drop, it's play-on.
      And that umpire is wrong, one umpires opinion doesn't make it so, plus it did get goal of the year. If it was so contentious it would not have got goal of the year.

    • @shmick6079

    I follow both NRL and AFL.. The diehards of the NRL will mislead you that NRL is Australia's biggest football code! If you look at the history of just the last fifty years of crowds. The AFL is more than double! Tv ratings are people who just watch days of our lives or what ever is on!
    Going to the game's is the real indicator!
    No final of any kind just a club match on a cold Melbourne winter's day in 1958 100.000 people Collingwood v Melbourne Demon's..
    And most league fan's go on about state of origin...They got that from the AFL!
    The AFL stopped it because there is nothing bigger than your 150 year-old club
    Or winning the premiership. The club fan's in AFL didn't like thier players injured either over artificial line's on a map! Origin is only a thing because Queensland didn't have a league that got crowds. Just cars around the ground at suburban grounds! But when they copied the AFL's origin Brisbane finally got 40.000 back in the eighties a small crowd by AFL standards NSW didn't take it seriously till Queensland kept beating them. So it's a big deal now! Just letting you know the real truth! You won't get it from diehards!
    Like i said look at the crowds and memberships..tv is about $$$$ only ... social media is Recent BS... fan's!
