As a South African it would have been wonderful for the Bulls to win but Saffas are honestly happy that Glasgow Warriors won...they absolutely deserved to win and played well... South Africans haven't been filling up stadiums for the URC games as much as they did when we were part of Super Rugby Championship with New Zealand and Australian teams...
The South African attendences have definitely improved from the attendences in the later days lf Super Rugby. Hopefully they can reach the old days of Super Rugby.
As you say, the last maul collapsed (but wasn’t illegally taken down) and the ball became unplayable. That ends the maul, but in this case it was also a turnover although that made no difference because time was up. If a team takes the ball into a maul and it gets trapped there without the ball going to ground, it’s called “held up” and the other side gets to put it into the scrum. You can see the referee signal towards Glasgow to indicate that they have the feed.
Hi Eammon. Just back from Scotstoun Stadium in Glasgow where the team came home with the Trophy. Wild euphoria all around. Still can barely believe that the Warriors actually won! 😳🙂. To beat the last 3 seasons champions one week after another and travel to Loftus Stadium in Pretoria (one of the revered cathedrals of world rugby) and win in front of the Bulls 52,000 crazy fans is mind-blowing. The Bulls fans have been really generous towards Glasgow which is Awesome. We are all still getting to know each other as the SA teams have just joined 3 years ago but great games like this really help. Roll on next season - can’t wait! 🙂
Eamonn I noticed at the end when you read the comments you expected spicy nasty comments. In South Africa, if your team loses and you can clearly see it's because they're playing nonsense, you don't go on a rant and be nasty. Just congratulate the other team and then go and lock yourself up in a room and cry😂
