I saw a story on Reddit that I hope is true of a girl who went to a shrimp club her bf cheated on her all the time at and she became good friends with the girl he always saw and got dances from then they started dating. Knowing Reddit tho it could just be made up.

I was in a relationship just like that, sadly. Unfortunately, she and I were not friends for a long time afterward. He told her and all of the people who would eventually become my friends that I was a money grubber. She believed him, but everyone else learned better when they got to know me. He probably told people that so he could justify in his mind treating me the way he did.

That last one reminds me of my wife when we first met. My wife grew up in a very conservative household that had very specific gender duties and reinforced a females' "Place." While I did grow up in a crazy multigenerational home, I learned very quickly about the importance of standing up for yourself. My wife went from a very quiet and shy girl to a reserved but strong woman that isn't afraid to talk a jerk down. Now, she's taught me to be calmer and more rational in dealing with other people, she knows that she's strong enough to deal with anyone that gets in her way, like that jerk in OP's post.

The store manager job reminded me of a story about Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone. During the height of their rivalry as action stars in the early 90s, Arnold, who was looking to do more comedies, was approached about the movie, “Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot.” He read the script and knew the movie was terrible and decided to himself that he wasn’t going to do it. Stallone was then approached about the role. He called up Schwarzenegger and asked him if he had been approached about the movie. Schwarzenegger said he had, and he was thinking about doing it because it was a brilliant idea. Stallone’s agent was telling him, “If you don’t do this movie, he’s in.” So, Stallone did the movie, and it of course, turned out to be an absolute bomb. He later learned that Schwarzenegger tricked him into it.

First story sounds like a Christmas tradition my mums side of the family had going on for a couple decades! My great grandmother on my mums side had a friend called May, she was very unique. Ended up giving my great aunt a photo of herself in a really ugly frame for Christmas one year. May passed not long after. My great aunt the following Christmas gifted the photo with the frame to her sister the next year. This ended up becoming a ‘pick a name out of the hat and you get the photo’ between my nana, her 3 sisters and brother! My nana had the same photo in a not as ugly frame and thought it was unfair she always had a copy so it got printed on a tshirt and thrown in our family secret Santa presents so the cousins and second cousins also had a chance of getting may for a year! This lead to the entire family hoping they would not get a May present and let’s just say the family got creative in hiding her! I made a Rubin cube myself and also edited her into a Star Wars photo with the caption ‘May the force be with you’ on it! We had a paint by numbers, a calendar and more! My nana got the tshirt back and turned it into a pillow! My aunt, who lives in another country so can’t be with us at christmas as often, even has a photo of May in a snow globe magnet on her fridge! Unfortunately due to Covid and my extended family being all kinds of crazy we haven’t done this in a couple of years but was a highlight of my childhood and I just hope to not see that photo of May ever again!
Also helps that the first story we’re aussies and we’re all Kiwis!,

I had to book a hotshot (a dedicated truck just for that freight, nothing mixed or other stops) last minute for our client so I called the operations director for approval which I got. The next day, the program manager over the IBM contract who was also my boss kinda but not really cc'd the operations director trying to make trouble for me as she had done several times before complaining that I had no business taking it upon myself to authorize a hotshot without her approval (it cost a lot of money). The ops director replied cc'ing the company CEO and said "I approved the hotshot, he called me and asked for the approval because I am his direct supervisor, you are not". Whoops.

I had similar experience becoming friends with my bfs mistress. I was 19 at the time, except I wasnt that naive, I picked up on what was going on really fast, we were together for maybe 5 months so I wasnt that emotionally invested yet. And since this was the time when everyone was on facebook, I saw her replying on some posts and chatting with the group, so I got in on that. Eventually we chatted a lot and I publicly on fcb invited her to one of our hang outs, me, her the bf and a few other friends from the group. He or his friends couldnt say anything obviously. I will never forget their faces when I showed up. the bf was actually kinda acting like a toddler and was kinda mean to everyone during the evening, sulking around, cause "he was in a bad mood", I snapped back at him when ever he was mean to her, and her, me and another friend had a great night together. We were good friends for a few years, we both dumped him obviously, and nothing happened between us, life kinda just got in the way and we grew distant over time busy with our own lives after she moved to a different country.

"THE BRICK" was a small red brick you would find on the side of a house but was incased in crocheting that my grandmother did when us kids where real young. "THE BRICK" was a gift from my mother's mother to my mother as a door stop to keep a door open. The tradition started to be given from one of my parents to the other parent. But then us kids got involved. The idea was to make a light gift heavier so one can't guess what the gift was. Every year at some point "THE BRICK" would disappear from the door that it was ment to block open and then everyone would know that it had been gifted to someone.

We have a family tradition where we re-gift unwanted gifts for Christmas. Every person brings one and has to take one back at the end of the evening. It has to be sth that isn’t specifically bought for the occasion, but sth you already possess and want to get rid of.
It’s super fun and sometimes you even receive sth that you actually want to keep - and if you don’t, you re-wrap it for next year.

I’m really confused, how is that first story interesting at all? I gave sibling pots. Sibling regifted me the pots. Then we all spend ten years pointlessly but super obviously passing the pots back and forth, and somehow sibling is super shocked when they get the pots that have been moving along the family tree. Am I missing something? Cause this sounds about as awesome as “my sister coughed in my direction once, so fifteen years later I drank the last glass of juice!”

It's a weak story, it's entertaining to people involved, someone shared it to just make others smile, rslash is empathic and when reading story like this he gets entertained because he sees himself in this position of receiving and gifting it and finds it cute. It's a tiny story, it's a cute story. It's not big if a deal and it's entertaining if you're invested other people are happy.

My Mom's friends do something like the regifting in their friend group of a Christmas goose whose ugly and its neck is broke (it came that way). They find it funny. They also like save xmas Christians cards they got from each other. Then wait a year, cross out their name, and sign theirs with the year on its. Its kinda a fun thing they do. They do give out normal gifts to each other and gag gifts as well. I need to learn from these old ladies. They make gift exchanges so much fun!

14:00 rSlash, you kind of misinterpret the situation. He was already a cheat and OP was the side piece. When his grandma died, following his logic, he would take the "official gf". It's not a new excuse to cheat.

    • @anna8328
      @anna8328 Pƙed 2 lety

He didn't. He gets it. He just sees that both of them are being cheated on, it doesn't matter which was one was the "rightful"girl and which a sidepiece, both think they're the only ones, both are being cheated on and Dabney gets it.

"Don't assume you are smarter than people you don't know.". I was taking Calculus I, and one of my classmates bragged that she had never met anyone as intelligent as she was. I told her to enter math contests, and she would meet opponents that would leave her in the dust. (I like playing guitar and singing, and I met several people who went professional, and learned a little of what it takes to be a professional musician) Anyway, she never progressed to Calc II or any other math or engineering course. I now call this brand of Narcisism DJT syndrome.

Men interrupting or downright ignoring women is a long-standing thing. Every single time it p**ses me off. Men seem to be oblivious that they're doing this. I'm in my 80's and this has been going on my entire life and I can guarantee I have more education than most of these men. Men will never see themselves doing this, but they do - and constantly. Men - do women do this?

I worked with someone like “Regina”. A colleague left and she took over her roles. A while later she emailed me and copied in the managers trying to suggest I had just not done it and that if I didn’t know what to do I should have just asked. I think my boss told her to stop bothering me but the upper management boss that was also copied in told me I had to sort it. It later came out “Regina” and the upper manager were sleeping together
