I reckon the style of grooming a guy like this would use is the pity style. He'd likely specifically call attention to how he appears, how much it hurts that nobody trusts him when he just loves kids and never got to have his own, and illicit pity and use that.

In all fairness it could be family member. If this was your own brother who you grew up with I don't think it would necessarily occur to you not to leave your kids with him because of his looks because you'd just be used to his looks and feel you "know, know" him, and feel he's safe simply because he's family

Thank you for calling out the “professionals “ who are campaigning for the acceptance of child predators because “how they are wired isn’t their fault” BS. Who any of us is sexually attracted to isn’t something we control. How we ACT on those feelings is most definitely under our control. It’s about time that someone with a platform spoke up. Much appreciated.

yeah and there are pe.dophiles who would never touch a child because they know that it would be cruel and wrong and because they don't want to harm anyone else. Those we can have empathy with and oh I do.
Edit: oh and btw it's the same with heterosexuality. Am I tired of "boys will be boys" and "it's natural for men to be hunters and fall for prey" bablabla. What you feel is one thing, your actions are what we will make you accountable for. As we should as a society. Men do know the difference between consensual s.ex and r.ape and most human beings feel empathy. The ones that consciously chose to se.xually enjoy the pain of someone else, the power over someone else, made their choice.

These ‘professionals’ are dubious imo, have their own issues and preaching about how these people are ‘wired’ and it not being their fault screams !!!! to me. These predators can’t have normal relationships in anyway or form, they try and fail because of ‘how they are wired’. I judge them, and I judge parents like these in this story. Sorry if that offends but that’s my opinion!

Child psychology is so complex. She told her brother he would be killed by going over a cliff. She found it a credible threat. She didn't warn the patents when he took the boy to ... a cliff. After he throws the boy from the cliff, She didn't say anything. It took the boy recovering his memory to tell an adult. These children did not trust adults in their life to stand up for them.

There was a so called man who lived in the small village just outside the town I grew up in. He had a sister with learning disabilities so the family with their disabled daughter would ask him to babysit once in a while. All they were thinking is if he can take of his disabled sister he could take care of their daughter. He baby say for them for a few years. One night the parents were going to go out when they said this human shit stain was going to babysit, their daughter started screaming and spitting and grabbed at her crotch and screamed "NO NO NO NO". Her parents took her strait to the hospital to get her checked out. This poor girl was almost completely nonverbal, in a wheel chair with no control over her arms and legs and needs to be changed like a baby. They were told she was not a virgin and her anus had been torn at least a few times. With this the parents took it to the police first, who moved it along the line until this scum got arrested. They did tests on his sister and she was found to have been put through the same thing. Here in Canada, life in prison comes with a 25 year minimum before asking for parole. Instead where the girls didn't get killed he got 18 years. I am very happy to say he did not make it through his first 3 months. Everyone knew why he was in there and the jail put him in general population; "until they could find a secure place to keep him.". I heard his father say a couple of years later that him and his wife only had one child and it was their daughter. They completely erased him from their lives. They didn't even claim his body.

    • @hunnybeezy
      @hunnybeezy Před 17 dny

@christopherholly1392 We are good- now. It took a while to get to where we're at. We both have preexisting conditions that made the traumas unbearable for a time, and we both abused substances to cope. He went a bit further with it and OD'ed several times. We've both been clean for years now.
And just a little context, the person abusing me was a very very close family friend, the best friend of our older brother. These things would occur when we would go stay the night with him, as our older brother is 10 years older than myself and married. I was incapable of saying I didn't want to go over because I knew what it would lead to. When I finally told, it blew the family wide open and took many years to really move through it. We suffered together but we conquered together too! We are very close and I'm very grateful for that because things could've been so much more tragic. This happened 16 years ago so there's been a whole lot of trial and error, but I'm very proud of us.

I hope you and your brother are able to talk through guilt and reactions. YOU did the best you could do and neither of you should have been put in that position. That's amazing that you were then able to tell adults. x

I was 15 when I finally told a friend who told their mum. Their mum called my mum but as a parent now.. I am so protective of anyone around my kids and often have the talk with them on what is and is not acceptable for anyone to see or touch or them to see or touch. I have made sure they know that keeping secrets from their parents is not good and there is nothing that they can't tell us that we will ever stop loving them. No matter how bad they think it is that we can always work together to sort the situation out and if anyone tells you that we won't believe you .. that's a lie and that means it is something wrong that they should immediately tell us so we can help. Making things taboo and not discussing things is what made me think I couldn't speak up or tell my mum.

No, nice old men don't want to spend alone time with your daughter unless there is some sort of close family relationship and even THEN you have to be careful. As much as we don't want to see our loved ones in this way, the fact of the matter is, a lot of young children are assaulted by their own family members. Its SUCH a sad fact where kids are concerned

Just a note, on film sets, the job of chaperone is someone who looks after children on set. First because they are dangerous places, cables all over the place, huge manitou machines lifting huge screens...blah blah, you get the picture. So anyone under the age of 18 are closely guarded. He wanted, like you say, the anonymity. If you want kids to fiddle with, a film set is not one of them.i know many child stars have horrific things happen to them. But on set itself, they are safe. And parents are usually not far away. People like Harvey Weinstein are not on set.

I didn’t tell my family I was with for the weekend, of course, because he scared me and told me what he would do if I did tell them. But I knew when I got home and saw my mom I could tell her and I knew she would believe me and she did…..and she felt just like you…..that she had failed me somehow but she wasn’t even there and I never blamed her or felt like she didn’t protect me and I’m sure your daughter doesn’t feel that way either. I was 11 when I was arrested for “prostitution”. The police in my small town tried to charge me, the victim of a pedophile, with prostitution. They had to drop the charges immediately but they still arrested me, handcuffed me, and treated me like a criminal.

Yeah it was the late 90’s in Enid Oklahoma . They considered me the criminal and arrested me in 5th grade. I remember the first time he tried to force himself on me and how mad it made me so I went back with some friends thinking we were tough and we were going to settle it but he paid everyone to keep quiet! We were kids so of course we kept the money and didn’t tell anyone. That is what they considered prostitution…

Many horrible things like being pimped out happens to 13 y/o's in a small southern town I know. 1980's 1990 but probably still going on. All sorts of people under the radar; a few cops, older high school kids, and the losser jock from the glory days of football stardom... Sad to realize how sex trafficking isn't new. Been happening all over the world in every town since the beginning of time. Wow! It's taken, what at least hundreds of years of abuse before it's finally recognized? Society is so blind and dumb! Guess even though the internet is not great, at least we can get together finally and know we aren't alone...

None of us ever told because if we told, he said he'd kill the siblings and Mum. But Mum overheard the older two siblings calling each other co*ksucker and being extremely cruel to each other so she was made aware something happened to them. It wasn't until she'd left the home with the four of us and the younger two of us were still sent on supervised access that I returned home from one access visit walking funny and unable to use the toilet and regressing with nightmares and emotional outbursts, and she took me to hospital. I was the most abused, as the youngest girl, 4 years old, and this was on a supervised visit, raped in every way in a public toilet in front of my little brother. We had to skip state and change our names and went through 5 women's shelters before we were housed in our new aliases. My mother lost all touch with her family, except the occasional phone call, until we were grown and safe. She sacrificed everything to protect us from him. That man was evil and a large part of what he did to me was out of spite for her taking the older two from him, who he quite enjoyed messing around with, and because he knew my mother treasured me and wanted to destroy me to hurt her. Also, of course, that sick gratification that pedophiles want from a sexual experience with a child. But it was more punishment for my mother apparently. Sick men. And this kind of thing truly never leaves you. I do hope you've come to a healing space now.

He was a very respectable man. His wife was lovely and he was really kind and giving of his time etc and my parents seemed to like him. He assaulted me when I was 9. Please let children lead the way. If they are uncomfortable around a specific adult they might have good reason....

I do not care what difficulties or manipulations this guy did. You let your children be alone with this man? Really? I hope they fully feel responsible. Something tells me they are probably feeling sorry for themselves that they could not have known.
Just because something is needed doesnt mean you get to let your guard down. 3 years this happened. Where was the parents being active enough in the children's lives? Did the sister really never have injuries? Do they not even check in with the son?
We forgive parents for their irresponsibility. Fuck that. There are mistakes and there is neglect. They deserve to be blamed because if they were better parents this would have NOT happened. No amount of grooming from that dude could trick someone who has their eyes open.
