  • High winds were expected, but I was in between the islands, and the winds were from the back. So no problem. Until I took a wrong route, the old route of yesterday was still on my watch, and I followed it too far back. I had to do a bigger crossing. It was just a few kilometers, but with a wind force 6+++ it was a bit over the edge. After that crossing I could go on for a bit, until I had to turn upwind in more open water again. Too much waves meant I had to stop at one of the many islands that were around. A power boat race gave some amusement, but the island had nu suitable camping spot at all!
The wind died later in the evening, which meant I could sail on, into a nice bay, where dinner and a nice campfire awaited. Thinking about if this will be the last evening out?

Both terror and excitement it's the memories that make life worth living.
    Thanks for sharing

    Fair flying in that wind.

It is nice to show your considerations and worries! That’s all part of the “deal” when you are kayaking/canoeing/sailing all alone! Keep up your enthusiasm and enjoy the nature and everything it is offering you! 👍🏼

Thanks, yes the rewards are great, sometimes worry, sometimes bored and stuck, often in good places!

You adapted and overcame. Those were some pretty big winds! That camping spot didn't look too bad. Thanks for taking us along!....⛵⛵⛵

Yes great spot in the evening, trying to spot wildlife, but no deer or bears there ;)

An exciting day I can see. It was rather windy when I was around in those areas last time as well.

I have noticed that you leave the outriggers on all the time - has that become something permanent or only when you're on long trips with possible big waves and wind
Thanks for taking us along on your excursions!

Yes with anything possibly risky I leave the outriggers on, on inland waters or real quiet weather I store them in the boat.

Good afternoon I'm watching your videos! Very interesting! Tell me, what was the highest speed you achieved on your boat?

Thanks! I did 12.2 knots, measured by gps, 5 second average. I regularly clock 8 knots planing with luggage, 10 with an empty canoe. I'm upgrading the boat now, my dream is to do 15 knots
