#Nintendo #NintendoSwitch - Hry
We'll be live for the Spawncast tonight at 9PM EST to talk about this and more!
Not going to be there :( I am sleeping right then
Keep the weekly spawncast going please 🙏
So I guess that “Switch: Attach” option for that CZcams survey was correct??
Can you premiere it so I can get a reminder?
Please and thank you

Everything is pocketable if we bring back JNCO jeans.
Haha you could also fit your lunch in there

I saw a pair that could fit small children in the back pockets. Truly a marvel of engineering!
If Nü Metal can see a resurgence, JNCOs can’t be far behind.
Mammoth… JNCO for JNCO!

Knowing Nintendo they probably had investors go through real life squid games challenges just to have a chance to feel through that mystery box
Now that's Nintendo.
This had to be what they did, too many people that were vying for a spot. I’d love to know which games they chose for the pool of publications, manufacturer’s, etc.
I've always handed a Joy-con to a friend when I'm out with my Switch. People really appreciate the chance to play together, rather than just watching me play. 😊
Same and they aren't that bad to use at all for some games especially if u buy those mini joystick covers that look like a mini pro controller lol. Also i'd not only want them to have analogue triggers on the new switch but also resistant analogue triggers like on the ps5, Once I used those I really fell in love how good they are. And also haul effect sticks so no more stick drift. Actually the mobapad m6 HD is the best joycon replacement as of now.
I spotted an NPC

I don't mind the rails. I think magnetic joycons are going to be too easy to knock off. The only way to make them powerful enough to not would mean extremely expensive magnets which makes the controllers even more expensive.
There will be another mechanism to hold them in place. But they won't have same the structural flaws railings bring. Especially those plastic stoppers against metal railings.
What if its like magnets but with a sort of lock system a button that you push up or down to lock it in something like how you get off the joycons on the current switch i think that could work
Edit: I dont mind the rails either
i am currently holding a vape device called "'ziva"' by yocan.... it uses magnets and a metal enclosure to make a very simple tight fitting and sturdy connection. maybe something along these lines? I've tried twisting and it seems like a great way to connect these devices.
If Mobapad's knowledge of the Switch supply chain is credible, then the successor is going to retain them and just also implement magnets as part of the mechanism
Hear me out... velcro.
Nintendo would definitely show up with a random box and tell people to feel around. They're freaky like that
I have played with friends and family with splitting the joy cons, but practically everyone says it’s uncomfortable. Especially having to use L and R without the grip attached. I love the idea of splitting the joy cons, but I hope Nintendo makes an update to the comfort of the joy cons.
As a broke kid, me and my friends always used the sideways controller layout on lunch break at school. I would REALLY like to see that maintained
Yeah, it's always useful as you already have 2 controllers put of the box
a broke kid that has a switch? lol
@@The-One-and-OnlyYes. There is a difference between being broke and digging for water
@@The-One-and-Onlythey said broke, not destitute
I can just imagine Miyamoto running away pantsless, laughing, and smoking a cigarette after everyone was done feeling around in the box, with one executive remarking out loud 'where'd he come from?'
I've actually used single Joy-Con layout multiple times. Helps if you have that extra unexpected guest.
Reverend Mother Mohiam: Your instinct will be to remove your hand from the box. If you do so, you die.
Paul: Yo, is that the switch 2? Hold my spice
The hidden switch in a box part of story makes it more believable imo. Such a weird detail to make up
It might just be a sly reference to Dune lmao
I use the single joycon configuration to play most of the time. Especially when I have to play with my family. I remember last Christmas I played Mario kart with my sisters, each with one joycon in hand. I find that a very fun thing!
caca
I have used the joycons separately when I’m playing multiplayer with a bunch people, it’s. A very useful feature at the end of the day because you basically get two controllers out of the box. Yeah it’s very suboptimal but when you just wanna chill out with a bunch of friends with something like Mario kart or Mario party, it’s great to have that option. Especially when you don’t have the luxury of being able to buy a bunch of controllers
I just hope it has crossplay and a better screen than the Switch 1
Yeah I'm bummed it's not OLED. I would like at least a 120hz screen.
Edit: Fixed it for the tool @Drakevid
@@PANCHO15108 We don't know if that's even the case.
@@PANCHO15108 Why would you need 120 fps screen on a system where most games will be locked either to 30 or 60fps?

NINTENDO: "Place your hand inside the box."
ACCESSORIES MANUFACTURER: "What's inside it?"
NINTENDO: "P A I N" 😅
The idea of the box sounds a little bit ridiculous to me… You could just have a plain slab of wood that’s been shaped like to switch 2 and it would serve the same purpose
I think maybe once or twice in college I split my joy cons for two individual controllers
Mario party games with the kids is the only time I’ve handed someone a joy con
The ‘Attach’ name might flow well with the imagery of these controllers snapping onto the sides- there could be a modified version of that Switch ‘click’ logo, and hell, it might even be called the ‘Nintendo Attach,’ and there could be more to the gimmick than we think. But it’d still decidedly be a Switch successor, but shiny and new enough to convince consumers to jump on board. The speculation feels a bit more concrete now, excited to see what the next few weeks and months bring!
I sure hope that mystery box wasn't on that Nintendo executive's lap.
😂
We're going to be getting our hands on some weird accessories...
Nintendo only using 8GB of total ram is such a massive dissapointment.
What does it matter if the games are tailored for the system. It’s like complaining about less horsepower while riding a motorcycle vs a car
@@Mmmmmk247 Games were "tailored" to run on the switch aswell, didn't help the fact the 4G of total memory resulted in poor texture quality for many games and the inability to port many games to the console. You can't optimize your way out of poor hardware choices and Nintendo trying to save $15 on ram massively hurts the consoles prospects.
Also you trying to compare vehicle horsepower to system memory tells me you have no clue the function that memory serves in a system.
@@BonusCrook lol I very much understand but no analogy is ever perfect
What happened to your update video? You took it down
Did you not see it? Maybe there was a change of plans. He had a community post where he addressed what was said in the video
With my JNCO jeans my steam deck becomes a pocket console
Even the current Joy-Cons wouldn't be a problem in handheld mode if they slid up from the bottom, but ... then you'd lose the ability to "just" detach them from the console when you need to. You wouldn't have that reveal trailer shot of the guy removing the Joy-Cons from the controller grip, dropping them into the docked console, then just picking it up as a handheld.
Yes we did use split joycon sometimes. When we were out showing Switch off, especially in the early days, we would play snipper clips, mario kart, puyo puyo Tetris, and a few others games using split joycons.
Nintendo Switch Sports is a game we play more recently using the split joycon feature. Very decent feature that, especially in the early days when I had to choose between a game and a controller budget wise, came in very handy.
I've seen too many movies where sticking your hands in a box ends badly. "What's in the box?!"
It's just like in Dune. If you take your hand out of the box, you die
"What's in the box?"
"Excruciating pain..."
"Oh, it's a controller with flat backside and little to no grips then?"
"Indeed..."
So… is Nintendo stole The Lonely Island idea of their “best idea ever”?
The only way that a Switch 2 is coming that Nintendo themselves announces it. Rumors are just a nuisance.
i really would like classic D-pads to come back personally, i also hope the ABXY buttons are a bit bigger theyre too tiny imo.
I installed a WiiU d-pad into my left joycon. Looks like it's factory made and works flawlessly.
How are they supposed to make a case for it based off just blindly touching it for few mins?
I have to imagine they were also given plastic slabs to represent the Switch 2. But in terms of getting to see or feel the thing itself, the box.
I just want an audio jack in the controller...
3rd party accessory designers work from supplied CAD drawings with very exact dimensions. They do not work from fumbling around in a box. This story makes no sense at all.
I have used single JoyCons for games with friends tons of times.
It's a lot cheaper than buying four pro controllers and they work fine for party games like Mario Kart / Party.
I believe this is the only way for the new joycons to be only magnetic:
Pair of magnets on both the console and joycons, with a button on the joycons that extrudes plastic to force the magnets apart or retracts the magnets into the joycons (or both).
Magnetic joy cons were an Idea I've had for a good little while. They should've done it with the Switch OLED. Those rails are easy to damage.
Regarding that actual black box holding the hardware for accessory makers to figure out dimensions, what they could have done is make 3d prints that match the general form of the new console and identify vent and button placements so that the accessory makers can actually measure the device.
The pimax portal and Lenovo Legion go both use magnets to connect the controllers to the body of the device and from what I have observed from various reviewers is both devices maintain a strong connection
I don't like the details at all, this is so stupid,I hate the idea of magnetically attached joycons, I can see this becoming a problem and many dropped and broken switches because of it and not being able to use existing joycons is not good.
The idea of keeping the current pro controller does not really impress me either, I always feel like they dropped the ball by not even bothering to include analog triggers.
I would have rather had them keep existing joycons and drop pro controller support if anything.
Sure people will cite drift but this is an easy fix with hall effect joystick replacements.
We've only used the joincons for emergency situations on the fly, like dead batteries in a controller, unexpected guests, or faulty gear.
9:30 was the most Nintendo thing I’ve ever heard. Nintendo is thee weirdest company
I shared my joycons on a regular. Do not take that away
12:24 It would be nice to keep the OLED screen and, now that we have it, I think if the big new thing went back to regular IPS or something there would be some people deeply upset.
TOMODACHI LIFE
I think you just said the magic word
"ATTACH"
It could be the other way around, with the magnets as the guide where physical latches lock it in (so you would sill have a button to press to release a joycon).
Whether people used it enough or not, one of the BIGGEST draws of the Switch concept is the potential for unexpected multiplayer sessions
That multimodality is what made it so popular. Not so sure they will have the same success if they try to abandon that. Especially with seemingly ALL companies making their own switch now
Wireless charging
I've never given anyone a joycon because I own single player games only. And I never use the joycons because I use an 8bitdo ultimate controller. I'm still waiting for NIntendo to finally make an actual at home entertainment system instead of something that will one day be unable to boot up because Nintendo made their handhelds incapable of booting up without a battery installed. Ever since the GBA being the last handheld system of theirs able to run tethered, all their handheld systems cannot run without a working functional battery even when tethered to the power cable.
The Gamecube to this day is still my favorite system of theirs. If only they'd make something like that again. Just a dedicated stationary console. Something with more power to give developers options and allow Nintendo first party games to actually push the boundaries. While the switch is impressive with what the games on it are like. Looking at you BOTW/TOTK, literal computer magic. They could have done so much more if they had the resources behind a system to actually push further.
Nintendo did the box controller with the N64.
I’ve commonly seen kids split the joycons and use them that way. I’ve never had an issue with the rail system, and they’re pretty easy to fix if they get messed up. Even if you used magnets, you’d still need some sort of locking mechanism. Nintendo not having switch 2 ready by holiday 24 would be a huge miss, but the switch was announced in October 16’ and released in March 17’, so there’s a precedent for that timeline.
Calling It: Nintendo Split
Picturing some engineer putting a hand in a box while a Nintendo lawyer holds a gom jabbar to their neck. From what I've heard of Nintendo lawyers, I completely believe this image in my head.
if only we had a pro version with more cpu/gpu power , 8 years is a crazy lifespan for a console.
I've given someone a single joycon to play 2 player mario kart with them while I was on the go without any other controllers on me. It may not be comfortable to use, but it still works.
man this really explains why we have no leaked images yet.
Nintendo making people reach in a box to get an idea of dimensions sounds like Nintendo’s version of a Glory Hole.
I could imagine the chaos that would ensue if Nintendo just shadow dropped a console this year. It's not likely but it would instantly disappear from the stores, and people would lose their lives trying to get one 😢

Me and my friends always hand joycons during parties
I actually wouldn't be surprised if the screen split in half and the magnet was holding that together.
I played Mario Kart with a younger nephew on his system & was surprised by how easy it was to race with a single joy-con. Having said that, it would never be my preference.
Nintendo slipped up! They showed their hand: the Box *IS* the new system! Its called The Nintendo Box😊 And like Labo, you put it together when bought.
The magnet joy cons could be a middle portion that is raised while the system is recessed for more rigidity to the connection
I use split joycons often. I have three small children and they have an easier time playing using a “half controller” than a full one because size and less buttons. I really hope Switch 2 still has the split joy con function
Definitely hand over single Joycons.
Even if it isn't really comfortable, it's two-player out of the box, and when you buy one more pair (equivalent of buying one controller), you can then do 4 player Mario Kart, Mario Party or Smash.
If you have groups of friends or kids in your life, the more people you can get in on the action the better.
I think people are making a bigger deal of this than it’s worth. The controllers are likely the same but just attach differently. As for their sturdiness, I’m sure there will be a locking mechanism in place you’ll have to release before you magnetically detach them. And as for backwards compatibility, this is Nintendo. Even if you can’t attach the old joycons, they might let you sync them wirelessly.
In highschool I used the sideways joy cons a lot. Whenever I would play at school with friends after school or before school we would use the joycons. Some people brought their own controllers, but not everyone had one so I just let them use the joycons and they never complained, they were just having fun playing with freinds
Nah, joycons splitting into separate controllers is a brilliant idea. Maybe execution is lacking, but the fact that you effectively have a controller that splits into two is great. I mean sure, if someone plays by themselves there's no reason for that to be the case. But if you bring it out at a hangout or something, you can play a splitscreen game without any fuss. Like, to me it's one of the best things about the Switch.
I actually do use the single joycon in moments where I don't have other controllers around me, mainly when I'm not home with someone.
I really hope the magnet part is correct. When the latch wears out, I need to open up the controller and that's always where it starts to have other things go wrong, mainly the SL, SR and sync buttons and the LED going bad. I really want to not have to open up my joycon over something like that so it doesn't domino into other things going bad over time. My right joycon got a damaged latch and had to open it up, having problems with the other things. Didn't happen with the left one and it works just fine.
With where Nintendo and Sega are atm, it would be a good idea to say- Resurrect Sega Rally, make it Nintendo exclusive, highlight the new controllers with the game. Not huge, but it would be a decent win-win for both parties.
Regarding the magnets for the Joy-cons, I'd do it the other way around: They'd attach with magnets and maybe have an extra locking mechanism with a button to avoid accidental detachment. Though tbqh I don''t know if that'll be necessary, I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab S9+ that comes with a magnetic keyboard that is attached with magnets and that thing is STRONG. I often have trouble detaching it.
- Accessories Exec: "What's in the box?"
- Nintendo: "I visited your home this morning, after you'd left, I tried to play husband... it didn't work out, so, I took a souvenir..."
- Accessories Exec: "... (0_0).."
I actually have quite a few friends who prefer to use a single Joycon when playing multiplayer games that don't necessarily require that configuration, like Mario Kart or Super Smash Bros. Also, there's a few games that require the use of a single Joycon to play like Snipper Clips or Mario Party.
A magnetic Joycon connection might be similar to the DJI Action cameras. They connect via magnet but there are plastic latches on each side to lock it in place.
Occasionally yes for family gaming we take off joy cons and pop them in a plastic casing but definitely not the best configuration.
I use split joycons on a weekly basis. Way easier and cheaper to get grips for them so they’re more comfortable than buy 8 full size pro controllers.
For 'normal' games the Switch Pro Controller is the best I have ever used, I don't need analogue triggers at all. For Nintendo games the GameCube controller is still the Nonplusultra because the A button is at the right place.
1. Cut a hole in a box.
2. Put your console in that box.
3. Make the manufacturer stick their hands in the box.
And that's the way you do it.
To a point they can come with a short list of switch 2 games released because of the backwards compatibility
This box method is how they showed Devs the N64 controller way back.
A new leak just came out lol we are getting very close now. The new leak says it'll have an 8 inch 1080p display

I haven't used the joy cons by one per each player for multi player games. I use my 8bit SF30 pro controller if I need a second controller for someone. I've also changed my joy con shells out when I replaced the sticks due to drift. I have clear shells now with a mini D pad over the buttons on the left one and it works quite well when in hand held mode for 2D games.
The only game we use one joy con each is Mario kart 8. We have a Mario kart night w friends and fam every few months and that’s the only time we use the joy cons like that. Besides that we never do
The amount of times I used the Joy Cons as a pair of poor man's SNES controllers is far less than the amount of times I wish I had a decent D-pad. It's even less than the amount of times I wish I had six face buttons for fighting games. Since you can use your existing pro controllers, or even Joy Cons, the need for "Two players right out of the box" is less and less necessary.
Everyone owns a Switch, and a pro controller (1st or third party)... that's an exaggeration, but not by much. When taking the system around for multiplayer, you would need to carry extra controllers. The flip side is if you just bring the Switch and Joy Cons, you can do two platers, but the experience is a lot worse than two pro controllers.
I use the joy cons as individual controllers all the time to play with my kids. They can be a bit small for me from time to time, but they're great size for them and one set gets me two controllers for them
The original Switch prototype used magnetism to connect the Joycon. In fact, the Switch sound itself is snapping the magnetic Joycon on to a Switch. The noise was better than the noise it makes when you slide them on, so they left the original noise from when they were magnetic.
Because buying 4 pro controllers is a bit pricey for someone who mostly plays single player games, I have used Joycons as extra controllers for surprise guests or players.
I've tried the two joycon as seperate controllers thing with my 8 year old nephew several times. When he was 5 I think we played an hour of Lego City Undercover. Then the next two times when he was 6 and now 8 he didn't like it at all, nor did I. I ended up getting a blue 8bitdo Bluetooth Pro controller for myself this last Christmas and now we can play two player games properly. Only problem is that he liked that controller so much, I gave it to him for his birthday last month to use with his Switch Lite. If Nintendo Switch 2 has back compat I'll give him my Switch OLED.
The only time I've ever handed a single joycon to someone was on a plane to play mario kart with my kids
I've used Joy-Cons separated for more people, but not often - especially now that I have tons of controllers.
I use the joycon sharing feature often. Great way to have coop gameplay when friends come over
I think this 'magnet' thing is going to be akin to what we see with the iPad and how the Apple Pencil connects to recharge. The thing I hope Nintendo does is to use Hall Effect analog sticks and have an actual d-pad.
I would be surprised if the next console comes out in 2024. What I wouldn't be surprised is if Nintendo does ports of AAA games as part of the launch line up.
Sound weird? I think that Nintendo finally understood that given its current complete dominance in the console market, it needs to update the Switch 1 and not bring any strange and technologically appealing stuff. Magnetic connectors. Faster reading times. Full backwards compatibility. 4K support. This path seems very right to me. Let's go Big N.
I wouldn't put my hand in any box, especially with some random dude standing behind it
The only time I use Joy-cons separately is when I put them in Mario Kart racing wheels. I’d happily forgo that feature for a decent D-pad.
