#Nintendo #NintendoSwtich - Hry
I think the first thing Nintendo should announce is that the next system will be backwards compatible. Because people will continue to buy games knowing they can play them on the next system.
Although they haven't announced anything about that, the fact there's a late 2024 line up right before the release of the next system almost guarantees backwards compatibility.
It will 99% be BC with older Switch titles. If they didn't, Nintendo would angry a lot of Nintendo consumers.
That AND I need to be able to play ALL my digitally purchased games. If I can't, then I'm never buying digital on switch 2.
@@nworder4lifeYES 100% AGREED. Already ive been pretty sparse on switch digital because of my bad experiences with digital wii/wiiu purchases. I dont want to buy the same game 10x over just because nintendo cant be bothered to provide cross library compatibility.
@@Kirby5588not really, 3DS games were being released even when Switch was already released, for example. Nintendo, being solely a videogames company, makes every hardware move an extremely sensitive one. You never know.
>games are going to take longer to make
Pikmin fans who have spent half their lives waiting for the 2 latest games: First time?
😂
F-Zero fans: The best we can do is Battle Royale of a SNES game ☠️
F-zero fans haven't eaten well in years
Metroid fans will have to wait entire life times
When the NES started games were 32k now they are a couple of GBs and on the PS5 over 1TB. All of that takes time.
Perhaps one of the reasons that digital is increasing is because there are so many games that are only available digitally
Or..... shocking more folks just buy digital
Their graph shows that "downloadable versions of packaged software" fluctuated between 42% and 77% of digital sales this year, digital sales being around 50% of all sales.
I don't really see this. Alan wake 2 didn't have a physical release last year and that is only big triple A I can think that is the case for. Indie games rarely have physical releases but honestly indie games are getting physical releases more than they were a decade ago through websites like limitedrungames. I think it's genuinely just the convenience of digital vs physical that is making people switch over time.
You do realize Steam is 20+ years old, right? Stop deluding yourself. Games have been digital for AGES now.
Nothing to do with “digital exclusives”
@@Bargate And Alan Wake 2 under performed in terms of sales. I'm still hoping for a Physical release. If not, I'll just skip it all together. No Physical, No buy.
It would be a genius move if Nintendo kept physical games going. People would buy it all up.
I'd say reasonable rather than genius, it just still makes sense
@@mkjjoe genius because others dont see physical being popular in the future
In japan physical media is still more bought than digital. I don't see nintendo, a japanese company, stop focusing on the type of media most people from asian countries buy.
So yeah nintendo's physical not going anywhere soon!
It still amazes me how Nintendo just jumped from total hell in popularity with Wii U to one of the most popular consoles ever, people who was around during the Wii U's era remember how horrible was the Nintendo's popularity, a console that was flopping hard and didn't have the biggest hits of that time, a console without GTA V, Skyrim, Dark Souls, and then with just an announcement and a strong 1st year game release schedule, Nintendo was able to go back to 90s popularity, even with a weak console, well, as a portable, switch was pretty strong in 2017, but was a home console it was weak. If Nintendo put another strong 1st year lineup with the next console, with the popularity of the switch and the hype around Nintendo, this new console is gonna break records in the first year.
There were a lot of ridiculous comments on social media during the time of the Wii U. People often said Nintendo was doomed and going the way of Sega. I saw other comments saying kids no longer knew who Mario was and were not interested.
I kept arguing that Nintendo was still making great games and the next system could always be a hit as Nintendo has had flops in the past and recovered. Nintendo also had so much money they could afford to fail quite a few times. People insulted me, and repeated that Nintendo was dead.
I have to say though that Nintendo was also unpopular because they had ridiculous restrictions on CZcamsrs playing their games during the Wii u which luckily they eventually scrapped.
Even with the announcement of the Switch and when it first released there were lots of comments saying it was crap and would fail.
Those idiots who had lots of likes are awfully quiet these days.
Nintendo has had more sales on the switch than the combined sales of the last 30 years. The switch is fast approaching the best selling console ever behind the PS2.
They are more popular now than ever.
@@makasete30alot of ppl were saying that the switch was gonna flop when it was announced lmao
It’s going to be THE most popular console ever in 2 years
I spent the Wii u era looking at it on store shelves saying next week as I moved over to the 3ds shelf 😂 Wii u wasn't a real console
Nintendo might be the only real game console maker left soon. They have good games and refuse to go full crazy over powerful hardwares. I hope more people can at least appreciate that attitude from Nintendo.
This cross-generation Nintendo account thing is finally one good news related to Nintendo's terrible online service. Hopefully the classic library of games will stick this time (unlike the whole Virtual Console death fiasco)
The Nintendo online service is not that bad. I think the E shop is a hot mess, but overall I like the Nintendo on online better than Sony or Microsoft’s.
thanks for covering this jon! you always make it easy to keep up with what's actually going on. also wouldn't be a spawn wave video without MP4 getting mentioned 😂
Keeping physical games for sale is smart👍👍
TOTK took 6 years to make because COVID happened slap bang just as development was starting. You had a year of staying at home in Japan and a lot of development on games simply stopped. Then you had a hybrid year with some days at home and some days at work. That also affected development time.
In addition to that, Nintendo also took over a year just fixing bugs in the game and delayed the release. Almost any other company these days would have released the game and fixed the bugs over time. So the game took about 3-4 years of development time and they put so much stuff in the game it’s unbelievable.
So, TOTK is not a good example to use for longer development times though I agree with your point in general.
took 6 years for them to press control c and control v on the breath of the wild files
We can't really speculate either way, surely it affected them but we don't know at what points and how much. We don't even know when different phases of development occurred, as you suggest the bulk of development may have been when covid hit but as a project stemming from BOTW the bootstrap might have been quicker and earlier, and at least on paper they had already started by late 2017. The physics and mechanics apparently were a concern throughout, but for the overall design it's unclear, maybe a forced hiatus made them reconsider the scope and at some point they had to say "we have to finish" before that extra year of polish.
TOTK is a major technical achievement but I think it shows that they are still figuring out how to follow up on these massive games. Hopefully a more streamlined process, a fresh setting and the new hardware will allow them to express their vision in even more impressive ways.
The issue that slowed development of TotK had little to do with a virus. To a much greater degree, it was tyrannical government control which stole people's jobs and individual fear of the effects of the virus. The virus didn't infect the game and corrupt files although there likely were a few TotK developers who got sick which surely had some negligible effect on production time.
@@ericwindsor339 I think you should not play video games anymore.
Whats covid?
If the games I bought on my Switch 1 don’t carry over to the Switch 2, I’m opting out and sticking to my computer
If my physical games don't transfer over I'm mostly in the same boat.

Damn Metroid Prime is just so slick. Those clips make me want to play it again. What an amazing remaster it is to. I cant wait for the other 2 and then MP4. I'm gonna be requesting time off for that one. It really could be my all time favorite game.
If games start packaging their games with manuals again as it was then I can see an increase of physical sales.
The next switch is gonna be a day one purchase for me personally, can't wait.
That's pretty optimistic, are you sure you can get one, day one? Everyone is gonna want one.
Ehh not for me like the original switch I waited until there was a game that truly caught my attention.
No not Botw that was a wii U game originally.
@@conspiracyspiderdid you have a Wii U?
I second this!
Same. The first one is one of the best systems of all time!
I love how every content creator and news outlet made a coverage about the magnetic joy-cons when the news first came out and they all said how the new joy-cons magnetically *attach* to the system, yet they all completely forgot that just a few weeks prior the name "Switch Attach" appeared on a CZcams poll and it didn't occur to anybody to make that obvious connection 😂😂.
For real, people used to laugh at that name, but now having a context for it, it makes a lot more sense, and it sounds kinda snappy.
Technically the current joy cons also attach to the switch , just in a different manner so I don’t think a name like switch”attach” would be enough to differentiate between the consoles
@@edgaracosta9976fax, Nintendo doesn’t need another wii u situation
Yeah, please Nintendo, don't call it that. I'd take Switch 2 or Super Switch.
@@edgaracosta9976I think it sounds good but the initials of the console would be the Nintendo S.A I’m not sure they want that branding haha
At this point I really think it would be better to launch MP4 on the next system, but same day switch as well. Show off what the system can do visually with it. Doesn't have to be a launch title but within 6 months of system release
Backwards compatibility and able to play Pokemon Scarlet/Violet without the bugs/glitches is pretty much all im needing from the new system.
Pokemon sure can use the extra power but it's fundamentally glitchy, better hardware won't make it overall better. Hope that the next entries are well polished this time.
@@mkjjoeit ran pretty flawlessly on pc so it might just need the extra power. Did have s lot of crashing on release though personally but that might be the game trying to use more power than allocated

@@alibabaschultz352 alas too many people accept the games as is for that to change, at least they tried on the plot this time, havnt seen that since b/w and mystery dungeon
I would not hold my breath on a proper next gen patch from Gamefreak of all companies. Best case they improve the framerate and resolution, but you're still left with the horrible pop-in, muddy textures, questionable art design, low fps animations, etc.
If PS6 and the next Xbox are digital only I think that’ll actually increase physical sales for the Switch 2 so they’ll keep including physical, rather than going all digital as well
This June we'll be holding a Nintendo Direct on the Nintendo Switch 1 software lineup for the second half of 2024, but please note that there won't be any mention of the Nintendo Switch 1 successor during
Don’t forget Tears of the Kingdom had 2 years of Covid that prevent development. I hope Nintendo buy shares in various developers like Sega, Capcom, Square Enix etc to maintain games in their platform.
Metroid is going to launch with Switch 2. I’m sure it will be cross generation but no chance they don’t use it to market the new hardware.
A great visual showcase certainly, but I don't think it could be a system seller which Mario is more likely to do. If so, it would be overshadowed at launch so it could come later in the year. Or we see it this year on Switch.
@@mkjjoe I think Mario will come later in the year. A core title like Metroid would be a great fit for launch since the core gamers are the early adopters anyway.

I'll get at least one or two pre-orders in for Switch 2 (and will obtain day one). There hasn't been any launches in the past 15 years that I haven't been able to acquire day one.
Didn't get the ps5 and dont seem hyped for ps5 pro.....but since I've owned my Switch I can not wait for the next switch successor
Im not expecting Metroid Prime 4 for this holiday. I think it will be released for Switch next year, alongside Switch 2.
What Im expecting is to see Nintendo shadow drop Metroid Prime 2 and 3 after June's Nintendo Direct, with a physical release later, and finally show Metroid Prime 4 with a 2025 release date.
Chances are, holiday will be for Wind Waker and Twilight Princess.
I'm playing Metroid prime remastered on my switch oled for the first time and wow I don't really like the traditional Metroid games but this is great
Nintendo does have to address Metroid prime 4 this June , since they originally announced and claimed the game was coming for Nintendo switch

@@edgaracosta9976 As I said, they can show a 2min trailer for Metroid Prime 4, with a 2025 release date. And then close to the Switch 2 release they can show more.
Heck, they can announce in their Switch 2 press conference that Switch 2 console will play Switch 1 games and then use Metroid Prime 4 as a Switch 1 game being played on Switch 2.
If midnight launches are still gonna happen, I’ll be there. Always wanted to do one, this might be my last chance…
I think the increase in digital sales also has to do with regional pricing.
Where I live, buying a physical game is pretty expensive. Like above the equivalent of $70 USD. Not to mention game stores end up being pretty far. Amazon ends up being very reliable, but you won't always find the games you want on there.
On the eShop, games like Persona are usually way cheaper, especially during a sale, so that's usually the go to.
Plus discs are just pointless because they're slow, you have to install it then practically download it to patch it, dying media just live the VCR, DVD and so on.
Physical FTW.
Change my mind.
Why would anyone want to try to change your mind on personal preferences on how you like to buy your games?

Since machine learning ai, dlss, ray tracing and backwards capability is apart of switch 2 or whatever the switch successor name will officially be this could possibly mean your physical owned switch games could play in an enhanced mode on the new system.
I can almost guarantee that Metriod Prime 4 is not coming on the Switch, it would be released on Switch 2.
I think the NS2 announcement will increase sales. Sure you'll have some that wait for NS2, but I think we've already hit market saturation. But an announcement could cause a huge boost in excitement for all things Nintendo and people may buy the Oled for instance just to satiate their appetite. Some of it really is about brand recognition. Basically, an announcement can bring some life to the world of Nintendo.
I would like to see the Switch surpass the DVD Player dead laser PS2 as the best selling system of all time 😉
Do you think using switch one physical games with switch two will improve the frame rate dips?
So backwards compatible AND I keep my nintendo account purchases? Sounds good
The Nintendo cycle of grief length
Denial - 6 years
Anger - just a few days
Bargaining - one month, in June. People think the June Direct is when Nintendo will announce something.

I'm still salty about MegaMan Legends 3 to this day.
Gotta admit, I feel kind of burned after missing my chance to get Star Fox 0 as I didn't get a WiiU. With the new system my hopes are slightly rising again that Nintendo figures out a way to properly port the game.
A lot of households will already have a Switch... so what if the successor will make some use of the OG Switch by allowing it as a controller instead of banning it to the drawer? Would there be a big enough market for games that require a Switch 1 and 2 to work?
I hope it has backwards compatibility I have switch games I didn’t finish yet
They're either calling the console simply "Switch 2", or something that doesn't even include the word "switch". No way they would risk confusing the general public again with the name like the wii u did.
Saturday Surprise 💫
It would be really nice if cartridges are going to be compatible
Hopefully along with preordering we have the option to wait in line. I’d wait in line for a day for the new Switch. Brings me back to the good old days.
Instead of all digital, I'd rather see a right side Notch, like the 3ds, for this next gen, then notch both sides on the following one. Keep the Switch compatible the WHOLE time
Mark my words, Metroid Prime 4 will be announced for the Switch 3 in 2032. No cap 🧢
Haven’t been interested in any of the speculation but now Nintendo have started talking about it I’m fully into the hype
Nintendo better have some must have games at launch. Having Zelda BotW and Mario Kart 8 in the first month was huge. I can't see that being replicated with Metroid Prime 4 and Mario Odyssey 2. That's not good enough.
Lol John sounding disappointed when he said that Nintendo was continuing with packaged goods/physical games next gen
I had so much trouble getting a switch….I didn’t get one until November 2018.
If the leaks for specs are true and they're using Ada for the apu then it'll destroy handhelds. Only thing holding it back would be that steam isn't available on it.
The next switch is absolutely going to be a day one purchase for me. I want to be there from the very beginning and because as much as I love my switch OLED I feel like I’m literally coming at the end of the current which is natural life cycle and I want to be there through the entire journey of the successor. As for physical games Nintendo is made it clear that both physical and digital can coexist together. Nintendo is the only one that seems to understand that.
Isn’t there some proof the Oled Seitch is still getting some kind of revision or new look?
Whether it comes out this or the next year I'm just hoping it has tech that is not outdated on release...
Nintendo Switch 2 with backwards compatibility would be a day one purchase for me
When it comes to Nintendo I only ever buy physical media, that's the strong point of the comsole and has a resale value for the customer. You can't sell your digital games when you're done with them. Back in SNES days we would swap game cartridges amongst friends.
We all need to work on our backlogs instead of even considering paying scalper prices. I will buy when it's available at MSRP.
I'm just hoping for 4K support from the Switch 2...
SAME, I still find it strange when I plug up my PS4 Slim to my 4K TV and 1080p is the max resolution it's so weird, its been over a decade since 4K TV's came out, I'm expecting the Switch 2 docked to support 4K...
Analog TV's were around for decades before DVD's and the PS2 took full advantage of the screen. I'm guessing that it's going to be 2k (which is a PC option for many games)
I may be dumb for this but does this mean my switch cartridge's will work on the next console confirmed? or are we still in speculation when it comes to that?
Speculation
Switch came out when I was starting middle school and by the time it comes out I’ll be graduating high school. That’s how long it’s lifespan is
Am I the only one who gets excited hearing any Switch 2 news even though I know I won’t be buying one until like 2028?
Please show the text you are reading on screen instead of random trailers.
Trying to save around $600 for a day one purchase with a couple launch games.
I think sneakily confirmed backwards compatibility without saying too much. Saying a new console announcement won't affect current Gen gaming sales is a clear indication that some sort of backwards compatibility is at hand. Or did i hear wrong? Lol
hi Spawn Wave
Of course Nintendo's attitude towards external developers is going to be defensive after what happened with Rare. They never want to repeat that.
Did they give up on the time stamps?
Switch 2 should bring back download play from the DS era
Its time for Nintendo to announce the NX2.
If the next Nintendo switch system is coming, then it needs to be backwards compatible. I currently have only 10 Nintendo switch games that i fell in love with that i want to carry over.
So backwards compatibility means nothing with only 10 titles worth your time. The switch doesn't explode after the successor releases
@DankMemeCenterX it means that I'm not expecting the switch successor to have any titles worth my time. So in other words Nintendo would need to have backwards compatibility not only for me to spend hundreds of dollars on it but also for other people who don't play every single game released for the switch or for other systems
@DankMemeCenterX Also, depending on next month's Nintendo direct, I might have more games that interest me enough to buy them.
Id love to buy the new switch on release but one, stock issues and two.. probably be a revision a year after. Unless a game i really want comes out ill tough it out for a bit. Not a fan of buying rev 1.0 for devices
So does this mean only digital switch games will transfer?
The Switch 2 will no doubt basically use an SD card just like the Switch. Given how dirt cheap they are for us consumers to buy it makes sense for Nintendo to continue to include physical. It will cost them almost nothing to include it unlike Sony and Microsoft, who have to worry about disc drive being made by fewer and fewer manufacturers, which drives the cost of inclusion up.
Personally, I’m gonna wait. Unless Xenoblade 4/the next Xenoblade game is a launch title on it, then I’ll stick with my og switch. It was pure agony trying to get 1 PS5. Not exactly in a rush to get a new switch when I’ve already got a working one.
Is anyone not concerned/worried that your digital bought games you have on the current nintendo switch(EX: world war z unavailable dlc's), you might have to buy an upgrade or full price of these games for the full experience, that you are unable to have on the current Nintendo Switch? There are no new DLC's for world war z on the current switch. Will I be able to play my WWZ purchase on the new Nintendo Switch with the game's full experience?
If the switch gets powerfult enough to support CoD in ots docked form and gets a xbox gamepass app. Its a sweep
like previous system preparing for launch, nintendo is getting ready for it.
The Switch 2 will come out of the gate hot but I don’t think it’ll achieve the OG Switch numbers for a number of reasons. 1.We’re entering a time of global instability, 2. they’ve already ported & remastered a good portion of games to the OG so I feel like their library with the new console won’t be anywhere near the 120+ 1st party games that we have on the OG and will effect sales.
Show us the Switch 2 already 😆 🦆🦆🦆
Sooo starfield took 25 years and TOTK 6 🤔🤔🤔
let's go switch baby
We have come full circle, When I first started watching you spawn wave it was before we knew what the Nintendo Switch was, and everyone was guessing. You even put one of my images up on your youtube channel with the Comparison of the Nintendo Switch APU and the Nvidia Shield APU! this was before I was a youtuber myself!
These days I have my own channel, But I am still just as excited for the next Gen Nintendo Switch.
I think there is a ton to consider with this new unit, My bets are it still uses Nintendo Switch games, I feel like the Nintendo Switch is doing so well they won't just abandon the architecture they have setup with the NS1, so the NS2 is going to be an extension of that I am sure.
I think with newer devices like the Steam Deck, the Asus Rog, ect I think it's very clear the NS2 can be a lot more powerful than before.
However I think it's important to consider Nintendo's habit of using older tech to make a new system to keep the price down. So it's very likely that the NS2 will not be top of the line chip wise. But instead on older chip they can get cheaply.
If you ever want me on the spawn cast or something to talk about this stuff I would be happy to!
Excellent. My day one Switch is still kicking. But it's warped and beat up. So this is great news to me.
I wish they didn’t change the cartridge shape, so switch 2 can play switch games day one
the 3ds changed the cartridge shape but in such a way that the cartridge slot still accepted ds games

I just hope it’s backwards compatible and I’m not charged a fee for transferring digital games from one console to another, that was really stupid during the Wii U era.

I have moved to purchasing digital versions of games because of 2 main reasons. Firstly, the convenience of simply selecting a game and start playing without the need for the cartridge or a disc. If you have children, you'll know how frustrating it is to want to play a game and the disc is either in another box or missing. Same goes for Switch cartridges which are so small and easy to lose. I'm just done with physical media.
Honestly I'm kinda ok with games (at least from Nintendo) taking longer. Might be a hot take but lately it feels like they're on a roll with games getting the time too cook to ensure a better product, Mario Wonder, TotK, Pikmin etc, I think within the first 2 years of the switch 2 we'll also get notified that Nintendo acquired some extra studios and hired more people to help with the bigger games and it'll all be ok
I 100% agree!
They can’t go all digital because in some countries don’t have internet/xbox live account

Metroid Prime IV is going to get the Final Fantasy Versus XIII treatment. It's not going to come out until 2025 or 2026 and will be a Swtich Too game only. Why? Because whatever vision the developers had for the game couldn't be accomplished by the original Switch.
with nintendo selling 13.74m units in 2023 and 13.5m units in 2024 expected, that means for me the new switch won't be out before 2025
Nintendo are milking it to try and dethrone the PS2 as best selling console of all time. Forget PS2 was also a DVD player, sales are sales. This bothers Nintendo. I promise
@@pennywisethedancingclown7139 Lol I really doubt that would be leading their strategy, if anything such anecdotal projections are a terrible way to make a business roadmap. I think ensuring the best release schedule for hardware and software for months and years to come has much more weight than the ability to say "we took the first place". People do the same with anniversaries and other arbitrary metrics but that never pans out. Surely they'll celebrate it whenever it happens but it's likely to come naturally, as long as they don't kill production and stocks right away. However, I highly doubt that's how they plan their roadmap. Because "let's be number 1" isn't a business roadmap. No company operates like that because it isn't a way to operate.
They said they learn from their mistake in past though. Of waiting too long. You don’t want to wait til sales die to release new console, you got to release it before that.
I wish someone had asked them if they were making any plans with retailers to combat scalpers. I'm not waiting outside the store for hours for the a chance to have a hope to get one. I'm also not subscribing to any crappy paid rewards program So I can have a 10-minute Head start
So what happened to your other channel “spawn wave +” ⁉️
