If you were interested in looking into more rare Nintendo consoles, I highly reccomend the website I used to research: consolevariations.com
There's a lot of consoles I talked about, but there's even more bangers on the site, that I just didn't talk about. (Like that Dominoes PS5 from the beginning of the video)
If you're geniuenly interested in the variants I talked about I reccomend checking out more on their website ♥
hey so i actually posted the metroid cube in a metroid group im in, and believe it or not i got some info from an actual winner of that variant. he states he won his in 2005 from a website giveaway called P-nintendo. Second prize was a GBA SP with a custom Metroid Decal. he sold it to a french youtuber by the name of backintoystv!
Hey since you mentioned it in the video, Shiren the Wanderer is basically a pokemon mystery dungeon game. Same people made it, in fact.
The dominos ps5 better come with training software
13:10 13:17 If I were Jan Erik, I would have actually thrown my N64 controller at the TV.
Imagine overcoming all that adversity, just to get hard cucked by a goddamn blue shell.
The Backstreet Boys gameboy is owned by a spanish collector who appears in one of the last videos uploaded by the Creativo en Japón channel.
Kind of weird that you didn't mention my little sister's custom ds with her name bedazzled on it that is now unusable because it was in a house fire. Definitely one of the rarest special edition consoles out there
You know, I was also wondering why he didn't mention your sister's ds
not gonna lie, this rare edition sounds pretty fire
Carlito been real quiet since this info dropped
Oh yeah I remember seeing that at the Louvre
@@frogzcharred, even.
It's not as rare as the DSs discussed in this video but I'm the proud owner of a limited edition Pepsi DS
1000 of these uniquely colored consoles were given away in Japan in 2005 as a promotion for Pepsi Twist. Each one came with the console in it's own aluminum case and with a pair of Pepsi earbuds. It goes so hard and I'm glad my nearly four year search to find one worked out 😤

@@e7193 i did
That's so sick, I would kill for a whole set. Those earbuds must go insanely hard

So you're missing the part where the company had no rights to cooking mama. Yet they still produced and made the game. Lawsuits ensued and they lost.
That GBA with the guys signature across it was Dave Mira, one of the best BMX riders ever, who took his own life in 2016. Just figured id point that out. May have just wanted to get some money for charity and make his GBA more desirable. He was a complex dude from what ive heard. Worth mentioning he also was confirmed to have CTE, but also (Like Tony Hawk, the other GBA) did a ton for charity.
I saw Dave Mira perform outside a tiny bike shop in MN back around 1999. Will never forget it. He jumped over 6 kids laying across the pavement in the parking lot. So cool. RIP LEGEND
The Virtual Boy's development was just sad. Gunpei Yokoi (aka the creator of the Game Boy, the creator of the cross shape you see on D-pads, Metroid, Game & Watch, Kid Icarus, etc) was in charge of it and he KNEW this thing was a disaster and needed more work but Nintendo just had to get it out the door, so Yokoi ended up taking the blame for its failure and definitely quit of his own free will and wasn't made a public sacrifice. And then he got hit by a car and died, but not before creating the Tamagotchi and the Wonderswan.
Such a tragic ending for such a brilliant man. He literally created portable gaming as we know it, and then created _affordable_ portable gaming as we know it.
That last sentence caught me way off guard lol
He didn't just get hit by a car, he got rear ended by a truck and while getting out to see the damage he then got hit by an unrelated car and died
i love the wonderswan
@@poopypoopfartfaceSo he got hit by two cars.
Yo as a German I'm super happy you mentioned N-Zone. I know it's only for context but that gaming magazine was my JAM as a kid. They always had multiple people review a game and then told you which types of games these people liked, that way you could triangulate whether you might like it as well. Such a simple concept that nowadays wouldn't fly for 1 gaming outlet. Just get reviews out ASAP.
Coolvideo, tyvm!
That approach could be really cool
@@antusFireNova64 It WAS super cool, all the games N-Zone reviewed and which I bought were fun. Not a single one was bad. This was the superior way to decide whether a game was for you! I now have to do something similar by viewing multiple reviews on CZcams by people whose takes I know and then watch it but few youtubers have a "synposis: I am not an RPG guy, I still loved paper mario the thousand year door, was an 8/10 for me" type of sentence attached to their reviews heh.
hehehehe, N-Zone. whats the "N" stand for?

Ayyy I was the one who found and documented the history for some of these!!!
I always love doing research and write ups on items with unknown origin, finding more/better pictures, it makes me very happy that more people are able to hear the awesome stories behind some of these consoles
I love how Akita Toryama can basically just make the same characters over and over again and no one cares.
Cash Man looks like he could be Freezas cousin or something.
Ya looks like another cooler form
Like 1/3 of dragon quest characters are either spell casting Gohan or trunks with a hat
Have you seen his Dragon Quest characters? Theyre all DBZ redraws
@@FrogJuiceJusticewhoops you beat me to it
You mean. Akira toriyama
I was the one who emailed the distributor and acquired the pictures of the Animal Crossing summer DS. According to the employee I spoke to all four systems were given to the distributor by Nintendo and given out as contest prizes. However the information about who won them was deleted. That goes against the story about the autumn one though, unless it was some sort of contest for different game stores to participate in.
There were also 7 Game Boy Advance SPs that were plated in 24-karat gold and released in the UK in 2004 for the launch of Zelda: The Minish Cap. A total of 6 of them were hidden among the 25,000 "Zelda Limited Edition Pak" bundles that were sold, and 1 was given away via a UK website giveaway. None of the winners were ever revealed.
literal real life charlie and the chocolate factory golden gameboys
I'm assuming the Golden WII switched hands so much because it had some ancient curse embedded into the gold
Damn, you saying you've never heard of G4 made me feel OLD. That network was the shit at the time. Xplay into AOTS into replays of Cops was the biggest vibe.
he is BSing, there’s no way in hell he was a gamer over the past 20 years to the point of being at or part of major tournaments and never heard of G4
@@bostonrailfan2427 thats what I thought but the deadpan comment was too strong and he brought up the wiki page Im still not sure.
@@Calaber24p he took a cheap shot at it, he knew who they were but is acting like he didn’t know…it might not have been everywhere in the early 00s but it was around and grew
G4 was dope
The fact that Akke won TI in 2013 and was playing high tier EU Smash like a year before is insane. The dedication to be a MOBA pro in esports is crazy and this dude is out there wrecking top players from a region in other game
The rarest Nintendo console are the friends we made along the way.
Cringe
what a stupid and i do mean stupid thing to say

This video was funny af but strangely educational thank you Carlito
I’ve actually held the SNES M16! It was at a game convention that I went to when I was like 14, I was given a VIP pass at random and part of it was getting to hold the controller. It’s exactly what you think, it’s a real m16 just with electronics for it to work with the SNES. It was heavy, and cool.
THAT'S SO SICK WHATT
Damn I'm jealous asf
One Gamecube variant I've always wanted to own is the Panasonic Q, a metallic silver DVD player/gamecube fusion. Looks extremely classy on top of being a neat combination of 2 retro devices.
I had one, looked amazing but probably the loudest console ive ever used 😄 sounded way worse than my dreamcast in every way, but on the shelf everyone always wanted to look
They aren't that hard to find.
I find them frequently enough on ebay.
I bought one not too long back.
They are pricey though, for gonna be paying 700 minimum for just the console.
More if you want the box.
What is getting harder to find is the Baseball Pinstripe gamecube WITH the Jersey.
The Labo Switch is probably my favorite, the cardboard look is clean af
A minor correction or update about those "seasonal" DS's in case anyone was curious, they were a part of a sweepstakes ran by Nintendo's official supplier to the Scandinavian countries. Im pretty sure two of them have been located and still owned by the original winners and as reported correctly in this video, the summer one was never found and is believed to have never been given away through the sweepstakes.
A really good CZcamsr i highly recommend named LSupersonicQ specializes in lost media content has done videos showcasing those DS's
great video, i never knew the story of what happened with the golden wii, makes sense you can't just send the royal family a package unprompted and expect them to keep it.
I don't see too many sweepstakes these days for custom consoles, but I guess I'm just not looking hard enough.
Am I really so old now that people don't know what G4 is? I'm bout to have an existential crisis 😶
People prefer to forget about G4.
@@lpnp9477nah, G4 (but more specifically TechTV) was great up until a certain point. Not worth bringing back, but it was great when it first came out.
@@lpnp9477 Weird take! Everyone I know remembers it so fondly. IDK what "people" you're talking about! :P
The Dave mirra one is fucking legendary. Yes his signature is on the screen but look him up, I’ll look thru his signature to play games all day.
When I was a kid it came on Tv an episode of the Simpsons where Burns buys like the Zii, which was the equivalent of the Wii, and that shit hit me so hard that I actyally went to my Wii and drew on it with a pencil to cancel the W and substitute it with a Z. I would argue that's what a real one of a kind console is
Great first impressions, I thought it was gonna be a generic down the road video explaining stuff we all already knew, but it ended up going very in depth. It's clear extensive research was done for the video and you had fun. You gained a sub
Here's one I learned about from GameCenter CX! Only a handful of these were made but when sales of the Game and Watch broke 20 million units sold (I'm assuming this accounts for all games like Helmet, Turtle, Octopus etc...) the creator Gunpei Yokoi had a handful of Donkey Kong Game and Watches made with caricatures of himself and 2 other people! Very very rare.
Great video man, I actually learned a lot from this! I've never even heard of so many of these! Keep up the good work!
This was such an enjoyable watch, made cooler by the fact that you have a Luffy avatar. Good work!
Glad you enjoyed it bro! And preach, piece is gas man 🙏
I love your video and honestly this is so slept on It was an amazing video!!
Love this video, so happy I came across your channel. Love this stuff
The Golden Wii... was it auctioned on Ebay, it's price was insane.
Still mad how they butchered Cooking Mama to a mining gig then threw her under the bus bus for an unmemorable singular title
Living up to your channels approach I see 👀👌🏽
Making me care about topics I'd probably not even think to watch vids on
thank you for putting in the time in making this video i really enjoyed it
wow wasn't expecting for one of my pics to appear in this video! I'm the owner of the signed kirby 3ds xl that appears for a brief second at 29:50, it came from a corocoro magazine giveaway. fun video :)
Wow, this was actually very thorough and efficient. Dude just earned a sub
I’m freaking liking your content a lot. I can see this channel booming soon.
There's an even rarer N64. There's a single us N64 DD that exists in the world. Was never put to any sort of auction
Yea cuz Metal Jesus owns it
always psyched to watch a new one of your videos bro!
Dope video! I hear the Labo Switch is pretty rare these days
Banger video love your commentary
I actually own a limited edition Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness Gamecube. I still use it today. It was one of my first gaming experiences too! My younger brother also gave me his golden TLoZ Majora's Mask GBA SP! I used to think the Flame Red 3DS was limited edition, which is why I got it. It wasn't, but I don't regret it. Still wish I owned the Midnight Purple one. I own a NES styled 3DS XL though.
I have to say, that shiny metallic 'real' gold (plating?) looks weirdly cheap compared to gold-colored plastic. For one thing, the second anyone so much as breathes near that finish, it's going to pick up a billion fingerprints and at least one random scratch, to say nothing of actually _playing_ with it.
really love your videos! take care of yourself!
Nintendo Advanced Video System (AVS), 1984 -- like the forthcoming NES, but was also to feature a computer keyboard, musical piano keyboard, light gun and data cassette recorder (all of these, along with the joystick, were infrared wireless), with only the light gun remaining from the original planned lineup (a piano keyboard accessory did appear years later for the NES but from a third-party: the Miracle Piano Teaching System from Software Toolworks). Was only publicly shown once, at the Las Vegas edition of the CES. A prototype still exists in Nintendo of America's original New York headquarters.
There was a game series created and produced (but not directed) by Hideo Kojima called Boktai in which the player character is a vampire hunter named Django who drags vampires' coffins. There was in Japan a special edition GBA SP which is half-black and half-red, nothing too fancy but the kicker is it came with this sweet-ass coffin-shaped case that could fit in either a GBA or GBA SP in (the shape fitted both) and 2 slots for the Boktai games themselves in. I think one of my friends still owns that case from way back in the day...
Very nice, I don't own any custom consoles, but I do own 3 nintendo dev kits that I will be showing on my channel in the near future. I guess those are rare. Thank you for the cool video!
These kinds of consoles are neat. That artist who could mimic Jack Kirby's style for the Wii is pretty cool, as far as consoles that aren't based on any specific game goes.
You know its a good day when Carlito uploads :)
My man with another banger video, good work
Eyy! Great video :D Thanks youtube for finding me this gem !
You're so good at making these videos bro, straight fire
34:35 This is the one here where I'm just beyond upset this wasn’t some insane collector's Switch released everywhere because they really just made the rawest console design in history with perfect matching Joycons only to only make a single one. Literal perfection but you can never own it
there are customizers that can make you an exact replica. its not that deep.
@@foxbuns I mean yeah, but not to downplay their work but it’ll never quite be as official as the real deal. People who make modded Joycons and docks are incredibly talented though
I REMEMBER G4. They used to play reruns of Japanese competition shows like Ultimate Banzuke and the original Ninja Warrior and Iron Chef. Damn. That was really dug out of my subconscious
Just wanted to let you know the cooking mama situation is a little different than you described. The bitcoin thing was a rumor that sprout up but it was because the company that you found on TikTok lost the legal rights to cooking mama like 3 days after cookstar came out which is why it was pulled in the first place. They aren't the intellectual owners of the cooking mama ip they just too way too long to release a game and voided their contract. Which explains why they would make a knock off right after LOL thats was news to me
I appreciate the music choice. Really takes me back to the head space i was in when these events took place
I've had this in my Watch Later for a few days and I'm finally gonna take my time to watch it. By the use of your vocabulary I like it already
Gotta love how the CC's constantly pick up "Wii" as "weed"
He returns, when we needed him most 💪
To be fair to Dave Mirra, he probably figured that whoever won the GameBoy would want to display it rather than actually use it, and I have to agree with his rationale there because that's what I'd do with it personally.
RIP Dave Mirra, BMX on Dreamcast was great. The songs were good too. ❤
You earned a sub bro, your humor is absolutely amazing. Laughed a ton in this video. A++
I think my favourite console variants, rare or not, are those weird branded retro consoles from back in the day. I'm not talking the ones themed after like, Pokemon or whatever, I'm talking the Toyota Gameboy or the Tommy Hilfiger and Lunchables Gameboy color. I just think it's so funny that those things exist, like, imagine if Nintendo came out with a special edition Honda console today. That would be hilarious.
I really love your videos, man.
Alright you earned a subscribe from me. This was great man
Excellent video!, new sub
this is your best video so many good bits in here
sweet ass video dude this is pushing me to finish my own projects
From what I have heard. Why cooking mama was removed is because there was a whole copyright issue and rights dispute/fight over the IP and Cookstar lost hence the change
I just love now instead of giving rare consoles to tournament winners, you know the people very invested in the system that would love to hold a little part of history, Nintendo nowadays will just give you a $10 gift card and maybe a handshake if you've been a good little boy.
We gotta go back to the old days man.
great video dawg
Helll ya, I checked your channel yesterday wondering why I aint being suggested anything, its cause ya aint been uploaded. What a great saturday surprise.
Not just looking at it... the whole video kept bringing back emotions for me with the sound's i could never forget and have a love 4 i can not properly describe, every time i hear even a snipit of the many sounds from donkey kong country snes i feel so sad and extremly happy at the same time as i know nothing like it will ever exist again.
I was offered that golden Wii many years ago for £500 before it started being sold online. But I am not interested in limited edition consoles, I was only interested in the GameCube development kits that the guy was also selling.
damn, i want that star fox assault gamecube. that thing is awesome.
Real
Ayy love the sonic adventure music though! A song that keeps us on the move
I have the zelda switch and looking at it really does make me happy, I love the way it looks. And I love the fact I got it on sale for less than a regular one lol. I know it's not rare but I love it
Dude i love the gold wii has big family games next to it in almost every pic
I asked Arnold Tsang who worked at Udon about the Udon wii's (he did the drawing of the graffitti one and I was familiar with his work as the main concept artist for apb reloaded and overwatch) and he said he's not even sure these were made beyond the 3D markups.
Pretty good video! Though I personally wouldn't count the consoles that weren't backed by nintendo, cause then you enter the point where like, Does my custom gameboy color with a unique injection molded shell count as one of the rarest gameboys of all time since it's unique?
I NEED MORE VIDS LIKE THIS U EARNED A SUB🎉
A lot of people also seems to forget about the Game Boy Pocket Fiorentina, made with the partnership of the Italian football team and it was a Limited edition with 2 games included and only made in 300 pieces
So many bangers in this video
interesting to see all the crazy consoles
It's not a lot, but my gameboy color was a special edition yellow Tommy Hilfiger one, and it was cool as hell 😎
YAY SO GLAD U UPLOADED
mans either joking about not knowing G4, or actually a baby
Love your videos all these consoles are hard af 🥶🥶🥶
13:29 Was not expectin to hear this banger🔥🔥
I actually remember the N-Zone sweepstakes as I bought the magazine every month back in that time. And I was also wondering so hard how to take part in that sweepstake cause I wanted to win these consoles so badly! XD
dude de blob was a random game that i had and very much enjoyed but just forgot about it and you reminded me of it💀
Yet another banger from carlito
HE’S BACK!!!
Goosebumps horrorland is a beautiful game and that sound track tho
i was vibing with the video so hard i didnt even know it was our boy carlito explaining gameboys to me
Great video! Well, except that G4 shade. That channel was a God send back in the day. Remember, it was before CZcams and Reddit
17:40 In some places like canada, it's completely illegal to have a give-away or pure games of chance. to skirt around these laws, companies will ask super easy questions like "what is 1+2" to "give it some skill". I bet the company giving them away just added these easy questions so they could both appease the lawmakers and add a cute little twist to it.
That’s an interesting idea. That’s like how people open a laundromat to do money laundering lol Jk
jesus I didn't know about ANY of these, this video was amazing
Can't believe you've never watched G4 with the notorious Adam Sessler.
came from coney video, you're a funny guy you'll go a long way!
For the orange soda, the store I work at actually sells Mirinda orange soda so it’s cool to see a GameBoy variant!
