some words are in Arabic because he is half Egyptian
You should check out the english translation of the song (there are tons of video with the eng subs in CZcams), becouse the lyrics are more profound than it sounds
You should hear studio version
Yes, I am looking forward to listening to a good quality studio version!
Thanks for your comment, we love the deep meaning of the song!
The song is about father's abandonment and he came back just to ask him for money... it doesn't talk of money itself. Some part of the lyric is Arabic cause he's half Egyptian
Bravissimaa spiegaglielo
Thanks for your comment, the meaning definitely fits so well with the mood of the song!
he is gay tho lol
@@ahmedelkhwaga2751 How is that any relevant?
Correct..... I'm Italian
Mahmood is half egyptian and this song is about his father who abandoned him, the part in arabic is a phrase that he remembers hearing from his father when he was a child.
Your father is egyptian your mother italian mamhood italian
You missed the beggining: critticizing drinking alcohol / Champagne during the RAMADANm at the end he sings in arabic.
In the Islam world they say teha western culture is all about the money
This is Jihad by word
@@empress2423 The phrase " drink champagne during Ramadan" refers to the hipocrisy of the father, who preaches well and scratches badly.

Mahmood is born in Italy so He is italian
The lyrics in this song are very important and if you don't understand what he says you can't really appreciate it.
We have been told the meaning, and it makes the song even more powerful! Love it a lot! Thanks for your comment
He is advertizing Islam.
He criticizes drinking alcohol during RAMADAN. He sings in arabic at the end.
By the Islam word the western culturre is all about the money...
This is JIhad by word
Empress 24 that is your interpretation and that is fine ... this song makes each one of us feel differently
Is not my "interpretation", I'm not putting the word RAMADAN in there. He did.
I recognize Jihad by words, from miles...
He starts by mentioning the RAMADAN, and the prohibition to drink in Islam...
Aww.. so I'm not the only one who does recognize the Jihad by word in this song... wow

In Italy he wasn't really 'understood' if I can say that. Right now in our country we have some immigration issues, and this song, this artist is wrongfully put in between (not that it matters, but he's 100% Italian). I hope that Mahmood can have his revenge on that. He is strong, he has a beautiful voice, and this song is so powerful. Good luck to him.
We wish him all the best! It would be a fantastic message if he wins!

Mamhood, the singer who participates for Italy, was born in Italy to Egyptian father and Italian mother. The song with which he participates with the title "Money" is dedicated to his father who is an alcoholic and left home but always came back from the family, tormenting he and his mother looking for "money" to buy alcohol
Thanks for your comment. We love the way the song felt before we knew the meaning, and now we love it even more as it's so dark. A very solid entry again from Italy!

The money song does not talk about money, but about a father who left his son when he was little, and only occasionally returns to him and asks him for money. He speaks of love for his father and for this difficult relationship. Alessandro has an Egyptian father and an Italian mother. He was born and lives in Milan. The Egyptian father returned to Egypt when he was small and only shows up once in a while.
did you heard the word RAMADAN at the beggining? he is criticizing drinkin alcohol during the Islamic RAMADAN
@@empress2423 stop writing lies everywhere, you've only distorted the meaning of the song!!!!
@@empress2423 You are saying this everywhere in the comments, it's dreadful to see how much eneregy and hatred you put trying to make the song (and the singer!) look bad. It would certainly be very appreciated if you could just be fair and at least not repeat lies. I don't know why you do this, but I'm sure people are not so stupid to believe you, every one can look for a translation of the song on google and see that what you say is completely false. What saddens me is that you could have done that yourself and spare yourself the shame of sounding like an idiot.. or perhaps you are doing this on purpose, and that's even worse cause it would mean you are cruel. Which one are you really, idiot or cruel?
I think this is so far one of the best songs, the song has trap, rap, and pop together, and as we know now a day trap is on the top of music in many countries is a really good option to put together those generes. In my opinion Italy and Spain have the best songs
Yes agree he's the best so far but everyone like Spain it is overrated and it will finish last again
We agree, it is a very interestingly made song, lots of very clever production going on, and Mahmood's voice actually fits the hypnotising nature of it very well! Thanks for your comment!
I agree
Loved the start...we say "ciao" both for hello (when you meet somebody) and for goodbye (when you end a call or a meeting), but like when you don't expect to see somebody anymore (deathbed, end of a relationship) we say "addio"
The arabic words are words that he remembers hearing as a kid, his dad is egyptian. Also the called is called "Soldi" but it's not in a materialistic way, it's about the dynamics that money (and lack of money) affect the family life
Thanks for your comment! Much like in Israel where shalom is hello and goodbye in a similar way. We really enjoyed the way this song affected us and made us feel, and the culture mix that Mahmood represents is great to see!
This song is fantastic😍😍

Hi, I'm Italian and would love to give a little backgroud to how he got to rapresent us, beside the song. Sanremo Festival is the most important musical event in Italy, whoever wins gets to take part to Eurovision rapresenting the country. This year there was plenty of very (very) old, traditional italian music and singers, people we've been listening to for 40 years around here. Plus, we are currently under a government that strongly attacks and tries to isolate anything that differs from 'the traditional italian culture', any kind of foreign vibe gets strong criticism (and Mahmood is hald italian half egiptian). Also, youger generations in Italy are being criticised, judged and not supported, at all. With this, I am extremely glad and proud we'll be rapresented by a young, hardworking songwriter with a diverse etnic background both in his personal life and his music. This entry tells me my country is not giving in to the attitude of the current politics in charge, is not giving in to fear, rejection, judgment and isolation. So I really don't mind how this will work out, as many others I am so happy and proud.

This song is a fusion style, and as you have well understand is well written (2 expert authors has help Alessandro Mahmoud - artist named Mahmood) to arrange what he wrote. As you told this kind of song growths little by little inside and it is certainly a young style. You ask me how I’m doing, doing, doing
You already know how things are going, going, going
His voice sounds like Eros Ramazzotti...
He is Italian and Egyptians.
He isn't singing about money, but about his father that left him and his mother, then coneing back just for the money
He's half Italian (from his mother) and half Egyptian (from his father) and he wanted to put a little part in Arabic and the instrumental is little bit Arabian too, that's why of that particular part🙂
We love the culture mix! He is a very interesting artist, and we wish this song all the best!
@@ToyAndGoy: thank you! 🙏🙂
Dear guys if u understand the language u will understand the song. The song is about the complex relation with his father who left him and his mother when he was little child.
Italy will win the whole thing ! 👏🏆
He's a winner this year

Hope the audience understood what the lyrics were saying..
The meaning of the song is the most important thing to understand.
He says that his dad left him and his mom when he was a little boy because of MONEY. And money can ruin a family. That's the maening of the song.
Italy congrats its an amazing song❤️
Greetings from Greece🇬🇷🇮🇹
Italy 👏👏👏 winner alert 👏👏👏
i dont understand whi this many dislike! sincerely you are nice and honest and you do not deserve 174 dislike :-(
Thank you so much for your kind words! 😘 we are not getting to emotional about it! The way we see it is that if people disliked our video it means they cared enough to have an opinion!!! 😊
"Well done Italy!" ;)
Why do you never translate Italian lyrics? The song is not about "Soldi" actually, it's more Intense ;)
this is a grower..and has grown fast on me, very good song!!
On us as well!
Hello guys, if you have time to listen to more songs sung by Mahmood, look for this track and listen to it, please: *Django - Freedom (Anthony Hamilton Feat. Elayna) Cover by Mahmood*. You will notice how beautifully he's able to sing in english too.
Thank you! When we are done with Eurovision songs we will be taking requests for things to react to!
@@ToyAndGoy Fair enough, thank you mates! :-x
Isn`t hello in Italian something like bon journo, probably not spelled like that though.
I have read that his voice here is after a lot of live shows and he was just tired and a bit hoarse. I did`nt like this the first time i heard it either but the more you hear it the more it grows on you and as the official clip is already up to 4 million views i`m guessing that a lot of people are going to know it before the ESC itself and everyone will be clapping along all across Europe.
If you want to hear the studio version, here it is:

I think this is going to be very high in the final results, in my opinion.
Thank your for your comment and the link! Goy is looking forward to hearing the studio version a lot! We believe it will place highly too, it has a lot of character and a very striking mood! Also, the more we have thought about it the more we feel that Mahmood's monotony and tone really work with the feel of the song!
Buongiorno is Good morning.
Can’t see this winning
You have to translate what he is singing to appreciate the meaning, and I don’t think the average Eurovision viewer will do that. As you said, the song grows on you - but lots of voters will only listen to it once and it will have no time to grow on to the listeners. I think it will do well with the Jury’s though
My favorite entry. Hands down. Love watching you guys.
Maybe, like, read the lyrics..? They're very poignant, they're about the relationship between him and his absent father, and also his condition of immigrant, there aren't many words but they're very well chosen
I'm verry glad that our guy, Mahmood, won the competition last week. Finally there's a song that doesn't talk about love but the relationship with his father. Then I'm proud of him because in this period we have some racists at the government that don't manage to rule and I'm happy there's no racism in our music. This man could represent a clean Italy at Eurovision.
There is a rise in racism all over the world which makes that song more powerful ! 😊
@@ToyAndGoy Yess!
my question is always the same: "why people do video reactions without searching for the lyrics before?" no offence guys
We would like to be in the same place like most of the Eurovision viewers at the night. Our reaction is pure and honest. We now know the meaning of the song and love it even more!
Toy Goy thanks guys
Actually I can't believe that he will come back at Sanremo this year with his song "Tuta Gold", I love him so much 💛
the arabic phrase is what his dad tell to him when he was a child. It means "my love, my dear come here" and Mahmood decides to put it into the song because is one of the few phrases that he remember in arabian (he is half italian and half arabic but he consider himself italian 100% because he grew up in Italy and he has got a italian's culture, so he can't speak arabian).
p.s. I'm sorry for my bad english, hope you guys understand what I said
This is my first time that i see a reaction on a italian sing by english people and this is so beautyfull
Thank you so much!!!😘
Please read the traduction of this song, it's the real life of more Italian, Mahmood is Egyptian origin. Sorry for my English!
Just me nostalgic about your Mahmood's reaction rewatching all your videos ♡
Hope he will come back with something soon and hope you'll react to it
Love youu
Have you listened to Calypso by Mahmood, Sfera and Fabri?
The song is about is relationship with his egypipptian father who left his mother and him when he was five . Soldi MONEY is not important, love is that is what Mahmood is saying. :D
Soldi (traduzione in Inglese)
Artista: Mahmood
Money
It's really hot down in the suburbs
Mama don't worry I'm on my way home
You will be upset by a liar
It looked like love to you, it was something else
He's drinking champagne during Ramadan
On tv they are airing Jackie Chan
He's smoking Shisha and asks me how I'm doing
He asks me how I'm doing doing doing
You alredy know how things are going going going
I think faster to try to figure out if you're going to fool me tomorrow
I have no time to clear things up 'cause I finally found out what you are
It hurts to be alive
When you lose your pride
You leave home out of the blue
You, tell me if
You only cared for the money money
As if you had any money
Tell me whether you miss me or you don't give a fuck
You used to ask me how I was doing doing doing
Now how are things going going going
What you're supposed to say you haven't said yet
Betrayal is a bullet in your chest
Keep all the compassion to yourself
You keep lyin' at home but you know she knows
Sittin' there she'll be asking me
Asking me how I'm doing doing doing
She already knows how things are going going going
I think faster to try to figure out if you're going to fool me tomorrow
I have no time to clear things up 'cause I finally found out what you are
It hurts to be alive
when you lose your pride
I figured it out in one second, from me
You only wanted the money
As if I had any money
Back then you would talk to me till late
You used to ask me how I'm doing doing doing
Now how are things going going going
My son, my son, darling, come over here [Arabic]
You used to tell me while playing your games with pride
My son, my son, darling, [Arabic] It felt so real to me
Wanting to bring things back to what they were
I didn't ask you for your money...
It hurts to be alive
When you lose your pride
You leave home out of the blue
You, tell me if
Only cared for the money money
As if I had any money
You leave the city without anybody knowing
Yesterday you were here, where are you now, papa?
You ask me how I'm doing doing doing
You already know how things are going going going
You must have hearing problems. I see it from how you pronounce Soldi. :D
It sounds like how Remy Munasifi sings Saudis in the song "Saudis in Audis"... It's here if you want to hear what I mean: czcams.com/video/lqJDuZIcQ34/video.html
