Mahmood (Alexandro Mahmoud) (age 26) is half Italian (mothers side) half Egyptian (Father’s side). But he considers himself 100% Italian. This song is about his dad leaving him and his family for money (soldi=money). Mahmood’s father left him at a young age because his dad wanted money over his own family. Hope this explanation helps😌

Mahmood is the winner of Sanremo festival and Italian representative on Eurovision Song Contest, currently he is European superstar. He is half Italian-half Egyptian from Milan. Soldi means money and lyrics are more-less like this:
“Mom don't worry I'm on my way home, you will be upset by a liar.
It looked like he loves you but it was something else. He is drinking champagne during Ramadan, on TV it’s not Jackie Chan (he wants to say something nasty-porn or something)
He's smoking Shisha and asks me how I'm doing but he only thinks about money....
I have no time to clear things up 'cause I finally found out what you are! It hurts to be alive when you lose your pride, I figured it out in one second, only thing that you wanted from me was money”. I really hope he will win this year although I’m not Italian but having someone on stage with super honest lyrics and emotions in general it’s just amazing 😀! Greetings from Vienna

Hello Hayel! Mahmood is very famous in Italy and I really like this song. His mother is Italian while his father is Egyptian. In this song he tells the story of his life. He suffered a lot because his father disappeared when he was a kid. He is sad even because her mother suffered about this. He is asking his father if he just exploited him for economical benefits. Actually, " Soldi" means "Money"

Soldi means money n the theme of this song is about his estranged father who chose money over family. His relationship with his dad is a common theme in his album Gioventù Bruciata (burnt youth).
He is half Egyptian (from his dad's side) n half Italian (from his mommas side).
Also Mahmood is his stage name and it's like a play on words like "my mood" n it comes from his surname which is Mahmoud. His real name is Italian af, it's Alessandro.

He uses his surname as his artist name and the original version of the surname is Mahmoud but he changed the “u” into an “o” .He did it because “Mah”(my) and “mood” pronounced together mean
“my mood” in english. And he said he likes his surname more this way because it represents him more both as a person and as an artist.

Parenthood is a gift of life but not everyone realizes it. Parenthood is distinct from being a Mother or Father. There are at least twice as many parents as there are children, but those parents often do not have the equivalent in Mothers and Fathers. From experience, despite and despite everything, parents must at least be "thanked" for giving us the opportunity to enter this physical dimension. Letting go of the pain and suffering serves above all to those who try it! A BIG HUG to Alessandro Mahmood !!!!!!

He listened to Arabic songs as a child because of his Egyptian father (he said it in an interview, that's why in many of his songs there are Arabic terms and melodies).
I advise you to listen to my favorites: Rapide; Barrio and Calipso, the latter did it together with other Italian raps).
I really like the singer Annalisa has a beautiful voice, my favorite songs are: Il mondo prima di te, Una finestra tra le stelle, Senza riserva, Direzione la vita, Bye Bye

IF ANYONE NEEDS IT, THAT'S THE TRANSLATION
It’s really hot down in the suburbs
Mum don’t worry I’m on my way home
You will be upset by a liar
It looked like love to you, it was something else
    He’s drinking champagne during Ramadan
On tv they are airing Jackie Chan
He’s smoking shisha and asks me how I’m doing
He asks me how I’m doing, doing, doing
You already know how things are going, going, going
I think faster to try to figure out
If you’re going to fool me tomorrow
I have no time to clear things up
‘Cause I finally found out what you are
    It hurts to be alive
    When you lose your pride
You leave home out of the blue
    You, tell me if
You only cared for the money, money
As if you had any money, money
Tell me whether you miss me or you don’t give a damn
You used to ask me how I was doing, doing, doing
Now how are things going, going, going
What you’re supposed to say you haven’t said yet
Betrayal is a bullet in your chest
Keep all the compassion to yourself
You keep lyin’ at home but you know she knows
Sittin’ there she’ll be asking me
Asking me how I’m doing, doing, doing
You already know how things are going, going, going
I think faster to try to figure out
If you’re going to fool me tomorrow
I have no time to clear things up
‘Cause I finally found out what you are
    It hurts to be alive
    When you lose your pride
I figured it out in one second
    That you, from me
    You only wanted money, money
As if I had any money, money
Before you would talk to me till late
You used to ask me how I’m doing, doing, doing
Now how are things going, going, going
My son, my son, darling, come over here
You used to tell me while playing with me looking proud
My son, my son, darling, it seemed real
the desire, the desire to bring things back to what they were
I didn’t ask for your money
    It hurts to be alive
    When you lose your pride
You leave home out of the blue
    You, tell me if
    You only wanted money, money
As if I had any money, money
You leave the city without anybody knowing
Yesterday you were here, where are you now, dad?
You ask me how I’m doing, doing, doing
You already know how things are going, going, going

  • @giorgiosalutogirsang2765

Mahmood father is Egyptian and his mother is Italian and that is why he knows Arabic as majority of Muslims allover the world try their best at learning the Arabic language. Do we know if Mahmood is Muslim? not for sure as he keeps his personal life to a private level. What you see at 3:15 is not a "Jesus thing" but it is a statue of Maryam mother of Isa (Jesus), which to my guess is very symbolic to him as his parents got a divorce when he was 5yo and his mother raised him as a single parent. So it could be a gesture of love towards his mother, or it points out the fact that he is very much Italian since some politicians dont find him Italian enough to represent the country at Eurovision (Politicians & small minded people = hillbillies). The statue also does not mean he is Christian althou Im guessing his mother remained Christian. He could be Agnostic, we dont know. What I deffinetely know is that Alessandro Mahmood is a man of culture, a good example of how an Italian should be, respecting his origins and traditions on both the Egyptian Muslim side and the Cristian Italian, as the Quran says we are allowed to love and marry anyone of an Abrahimic religion. But it is not about that, wheter people like it or not he is half and half but still born and raised in Italy, deffinely more Italian than a full Italian person who is born and raised in another country (not a bad thing). I actually look up to Mahmood as I am a half Italian half Indonesian Muslim (specifically I am 26% Italian, 22% middle-eastern: Turkish/Greek/Lebanese/North African, 1% Subsaharan African, 1%Spanish/French, 19% Indonesian, 6% Dutch, 12.5% Chinese, 12.5% Japanese) I have lived 1/3 of my life in China, Italy, Indonesia, moved to Australia and now I live in UK. at the age of 7yo I lived with my grandma in Milan and she would bring me to church, I fully practiced all religions and learned them very well even the Balinese hinduism, I still practice all of them to a certain extent and bring my grandma to church everytime I visit her in Italy, my family in Indonesia ( the most populeted Muslim country in the world) are for the majority Muslims, same goes for my mother. I moved to Indonesia when I was 14yo practiced Islam in my uncles house, not because I was forced to, no one ever asked me, but because I saw how kind they were to me even after all the crazy things I was doing like getting a boat from and Island to another 3 times a week just to go clubbing haha xD, anyways no one was saying anything but I saw the disapointed loving smile my uncle was giving me, so I started going to mousque with him to make the family a bit more proud of me.
4-5 years later I am a Muslim, like a proper one, not because my mother is, or because I was born a Muslim, but because I made the connection with Islam, but I am also Italian/Indonesian etc and made of all those different cultures an origins that I represent every day of my life, and I am happy and proud about it.
So after writing part of my story maybe you can get a glimpse of Mahmood's life.
Ramadan Kareem to all my brothers and sisters

Soldi means money and the song talks about how his father left them when he was a child and how he was not a fatherly figure in his life. He would come back only to ask them for money. Hello! The video explains very well the meaning of the song actually. Mahmood (real name Alessandro Mahmoud) was abandoned by his father when he was a child. That's basically the reason why there's a kid looking sad while his parents are arguing outside the car and also why the singer looks quite angry. Mahmood grew up with his mother (you can see a female figure carrying the little boy throughout the video). He has explained that "Soldi" (money) doesn't refer to specific money matters but shows how they can change relationships within a family. The Arabic sentence you hear near the end is a memory of something his father used to say to him. The last verse says "Yesterday you were here, where are you now, dad?" That's pretty much how the entire story is revealed.
