    Guys, the reason why Sanremo's songs are often over 3 minutes is because there is not such a rule in Sanremo. Singers are competing for the Sanremo contest, not for ESC. Then if you win you may take the chance to go to ESC, but singers are not focused on the Eurovision. As well the public and the vote, we do not vote for the most Eurovision song but for the best Italian song because this is the Festival of the Italian Song. It is not a national selection for the Eurovision, also because Eurovision was a European contest inspired by Sanremo.

  • @ShariSharoin
    @ShariSharoin Před 4 lety +67

    The gorilla was in Occidentali's Karma because the whole song is inspired by the book “The naked ape”, a zoologist's study of the Human as an Animal (whose name was Desmond Morris)
    And yes, you're right: in the future you should to listen to “Fai rumore” from the start to the end without stopping in order to feel emotional, this is that kind of song :)
    P.s. Actually Italy chops Sanremo's songs for ESC every year and there weren't damages in the past, so I don't think there will be some this year!

    • @vilkopoljak7370

      I dont think anyone cares when they watch the song. If they think the song is boring, they will use it for a bathroom break. Simple as that.

  • @eleanorrubert4780
    @eleanorrubert4780 Před 4 lety +129

    I think it bored you because in Sanremo artists bring songs exclusively for the Italian public. Soldi last year was an exception, in fact italians initially didn’t like it so much. Ballads are always been very common in Italy and we do not expect foreigners to understand something wrote for a certain public. Also Sanremo is not a competition for Eurovision, so we don’t have to follow Eurovision’s parameters in writing songs.

    • @eleanorrubert4780
      @eleanorrubert4780 Před 4 lety +20

      kwstas kwsta Initially there were lots of discussions about Soldi in Italy, because it arrived 3’ at the public voting and won thanks to the journalists votes. Now we admire him more because we have seen that foreigners like him. And we send the winner of Sanremo because Sanremo itself costs a lot of money, so it would be really expensive for the Italian tv do another competition, and why should we do another competition if we have Sanremo? Moreover, You can say whatever you want but Sanremo’s songs are quality, for this Italy usually do quite well at Eurovision.

    • @Jessica-mz3ch
      @Jessica-mz3ch Před 4 lety +4

      @kwstas kwsta Actually people made a lot of noise just because he was not the first for the public voting but the first was Ultimo (Ultimo has a lot of young teenager fans in Italy and Mahmood was almost unknown before Sanremo) Ultimo's fans were mad because of this and people started to say a lot of bad things about Mahmood and Soldi but they probably didn' even listen to the song before lol but everyone loves the song and everyone loves Mahmood now. Italy is now starting to be interested in Eurovision but is not a BIG thing for the majority of italians but Sanremo is, the eurovision is just a gift for the Sanremo winner and they can choose to go or not, I kind of agree with the "doing another competition for Eurovision" but at the same time I disagree because Sanremo represent Italy and italian music, don't forget Sanremo gave us Occidentali's Karma, Soldi and more... sometimes other coutry could like the song and sometimes they couldn't like it and it's okay

    • @belgravia85
      @belgravia85 Před 4 lety

      @kwstas kwsta Sanremo winner has the option to go to ESC because Sanremo is broadcast and partially organised by RAI, the national broadcaster. And as you know, the ESC is a project by the European Broadcasting Union, which is why Australia, a non European country, is competing, since one of their broadcasters in the EBU.

    • @pierluigimiscioscia7036
      @pierluigimiscioscia7036 Před 4 lety +4

      @kwstas kwsta Sanremo is a big tradition in Italy. It lasts for an entire week, it's the most viewed tv show in Italy every year. And the week of Sanremo everything stops in Italy, the press and TV only talk about Sanremo forgetting politics and all the rest. Having another contest for Eurovision that should be in the same part of the year because the deadline for the songs is in march would mean having as contestants those refused at Sanremo :)

    • @chiaranotreally1162

    the song explains how a person who suffers from the abscence of a loved one, ends up accepting reality, his fight ( rumor ) becomes a delicious memory.
    It is a universal concept, when one admits reality the soul rises and everything takes on another meaning, the inner demons become angels etc.
    There’s a Buddhist philosophy behind it.There is a beautiful but emotionally harsh film, "Jacob’s Ladder", which explains this universal phenomenon. It’s a very deep personal inner journey.

    You know that Sanremo is not a national final for our song in ESC, but maybe you don't know how BIG is Sanremo.
    In that week of February all the evening TV programs stop, every newspaper, newscast, hairdresser talk about Sanremo. Start in the morning with the press conference to see the audience the night before, then there is the pre festival, 3-4-5h of Sanremo, some years the after festival and the other channels, radios, social media that discuss about Sanremo. And every single year a new meaningless controversy that continues for weeks.
    ESC is important, but a singer writes a song to classify well in Sanremo, he doesn't think about Eurovision. That's why it's difficult for us to win: usually classical, strong, beautiful songs, but nothing special. For example, I love Nina Zilli, the Italian singer in ESC 2012, but that year she classified 7° in Sanremo!
    If we have not won with Mahmood it is difficult to win in the next few years.

    Guys, you're so lovely, I'm glad I ran into this reaction!
    I feel like stopping a moment and addressing your doubts about 2017 and 2018 entries. There was a gorilla on the scene because a main point in the lyrics was "the naked ape is dancing"; this is a reference to zoologist Dennis Morris's "The Naked Ape: A Zoologist's Study of the Human Animal". The song is about humankind in modern days, the way we act in the world, how sort of frivolous and mindless we are in spite of all things happening at planet level (cough cough Storm Ciara cough); the title translates to "Westerners' karma"; the naked ape is Man (or Woman), dancing its awareness away. "Non Mi Avete Fatto Niente" is a reference to terrorism acts from recent years, it translates to "You haven't done anything to me", meaning, whatever you throw at me I'm still standing untouched, your violence won't bring me down, it won't even scrape me.
    I've seen quite a few of this same confusion in reactors from the UK or other English-speaking countries and, if you don't mind me saying this, I'm a little disappointed by it; ESC provides lyrics and translations for all songs, people interested have the means to find out more about what the lyrics are about even if they're not in your native language; if you don't try to understand them of course you might not get them, but the beauty and the point of this contest is to bring different cultures together. Italy almost always (or is it every single time in ESC history?) brings songs in Italian; no country should be penalised for bringing songs in their native language. Please, consider checking out the lyrics, they're there for you. And if you haven't checked out Mahmood's lyrics, please do; the song is at a whole new level when you know what it's actually saying.

    That I shouldn't be thinking
    That if I think (of myself), I'm an animal
    And if I think of you, you are a soul
    But maybe it's this storm
    Which leads me to you
    And I know I shouldn't find myself
    Without an umbrella
    Though I realized that
    As much as I run away
    I always come back to you
    [Refrain]
    You who are making noise here
    And I don't know if it's good for me
    If your noise suits me
    But make noise, yes
    That I can't bear it
    This unnatural silence
    Between me and you
    [Verse 2]
    And I go around without speaking
    Without a place to go to
    I wear out my shoes
    And maybe my shoes
    They know where to go
    As I find myself in the same places
    Just those places I had to avoid
    And I pretend I don't remember
    And I pretend to forget

    This song is about the end of a love due to lack of communication. He is now alone and silent, but she still rumbles in his head and in his heart , because “fai rumore” means “ you make noise” or better “you make rumbles “ . He tries to foget her but then he remembers her, he Walks aimless but his feet take him to their special places. He’s not sure if it’s better the rumbles inside him or the silent around him. In this Lockdown weeks (coronavirus) it has Also taken on enother meaning: we have to make “noise” because squares, streets, alleys are too empty and silent. This song is heartbreaking! His performance was in the Arena di Verona complitly empty! Ps: to everyone: stay safe!

    Che mi ritrovo negli stessi posti
