  • This is a short video on how to remove a 2007-2017 Jeep Wrangler JK dash panel/bezel. You may need to remove your Jeep Wangler dash for a multitude of reasons like, running wires, new radio, adding switches. Removing the dash cover makes it super easy to run wires and hide them like a pro!

    Thank you so much for this video. I need to check on two bare wires that I just found leading to some kind of a box behind that panel below the steering wheel. Was afraid to pull with as much force as you did. so your video is helpful for me in 2020.

    My grandad willed me my JK. I plan to keep it forever like my 68C10.
    I can see I have 2 options. Stock up on new in the box plastic dash board panels, or rip out all the old cracking plastic and fabricate a metal front dash with aftermarket steering column one day.
    I sure miss the old steel dashes.

I'm going to be adding some window/hood lights and the only thing I need to access would be the stock OEM switch panel (2015 JK), do I have to take all this stuff off to access it? Or can I use a few tools and just pop it out? Thanks!

    Great video, I dont think there is really any difference for the 2010 JK, right? Also another question, there is a metal plate where you put your amplifier (original plate), is that necessary to have something bolted between those two vertical metal posts? I am planning on mounting light switches in the plastic cover below the steer wheel and a couple relays so the wiring will not allow the metal plate to remain in place. Do you think this is alright? Thanks.

    Question: I'm looking at adding a light pod/bar switch to the empty switch spots where the Electronic Sway Bar Disconnect and Locker buttons would be on a Rubicon. They are located above the left speaker. Any tips or tricks to get those out? Would you still need to take apart the dash to get to that area?

    • @RockyXTV
      @RockyXTV  Před 5 lety

      I can't say for sure as I do not have a Rubicon so I think my panels are just a little different on that side. I can say that if you pop the lower knee plate trim panel off (under steering wheel) there should be a few 7mm bolts behind there, those may help you get your switch/button panel out.

    • @robertfassett1018
      @robertfassett1018 Před 5 lety +1

      @@RockyXTV Your video helped a lot. I was able to get in to the exact area I wanted to: the switch bay under the AC controls. However, I found that those are not independent switch locations.. there's a housing that holds all those switches together and is harnessed in. So I wasn't able to get the switch installed there. So I cut a whole where the mesh speaker cover is on the left side. Easy cuts (since there's already tiny holes) and the switch looks good there.

    I need to get into the side panel of my dashboard. Does that crescent shaped side panel pop out or do I have to remove the entire dashboard like you did? The reason I ask is that I have a switch installed to the left side of my steering wheel in the dash.that switch has gone bad and the only way I can get to it is by taking off either that small panel or the whole dash. The switch won't pop out

    Im looking for a place under my dash to put the remote box for my CB radio. How do I remove the passenger side dash to see if theres room under there ?

      I don't think I've removed that section, at least not that I remember. As far as room over there, it would be limited as you have the air bag, glove box, heater box and a few other odds and ends. Sorry I couldn't be of an help, thanks for watching though!

    What if you want to take out the passenger side dash panel how do you do that?

    • @RockyXTV
      @RockyXTV  Před 4 lety

      That is a little more of a process as you have the airbag to deal with over there. Unfortunately I don't have a video on that side.

      I don't recall if I ever removed that side. Unfortunately I no longer have a Wrangler, so I can't experiment for you. I'm really sorry I couldn't be of any help.

    My JK doesn't look like this.?.

  • @dallass749
    @dallass749 Před 2 lety

    Would like to note a 2009 JK does not have this style, there is no center switch to pull out and the drivers side and the radio console are separate, the title to his should be corrected to show the correct years.

    That is not the center dash for a 2007-2011 Jeep JK. You need to modify your title.
