Surprisingly Mendy was my MOTM. CARVAHAL played a tough game so credit but for me , once Madrid adjusted to cover the right , he ensured nothing came down his side and this limited City to a more predictable attack. With it only coming in from the left, and with Silva being restricted to cutting un on a weak angle, Madrid could afford - and expect - go absorb pressure knowing it wasn't really dangerous.
I think Ancelotti came for a draw and just took chances with that goal same way Barcelona stop it against Chelsea in their infamous 1-1 draw At the Bridge in 08/09. In those days teams went out to win on away goals . I guess after the goal Ancelotti set up to win on this.

I guess he told his team to survive that and then take their chances of stealing it by exploiting gaps that would emerge as City chase goals
Yep had to have a good think about the game. My insist was to say Madrid rode their luck. Ancelotti took from their previous season Hammering by trying to prevent City playing for the first 20 minutes. My problem is that if City scored people would have piled praise on City. As it stands this reminded me of Palace vs Liverpool. City hit the bar from a mistake and scored from a mistake whereas Madrid exploited a long kick to score a quality goal holding on to the lead using a great defensive display.
If people get a chance listen to 20 year old Bellingham post match. His level of insight was above majority of English pundits. Evidently he and others thought through and played much of the game in their heads. He was later praised for his endless running.
Even Ancelotti said he knew his team would have to "suffer" today so here's my thinking...
Unlike the 4-0 last season where Madrid were shell shocked , he not only came to concede possession but expected his team to hang in there. Either get them on a potential break or realistically cut out danger and take chances with penalties. For me that isn't a strategy.

Surprisingly Mendy was my MOTM . I knew Madrid tactics was to defend the whole game. Once Rodrigo got subbed out, it was obvious they were going to play defensively. Pep should've subbed out Grealish in the beginning of second half. Doku is way faster and can dribble past defender easily. Carvajal is old to even match the speed of Doku which Pep could've taken advantage off way earlier. I would've subbed out Haaland as well and subbed in Alvarez for a better chance to score long range goals. Either way Madrid knew that they had better chance in penalty because that's what they are know for in the UCL. I could see them doing this against Bayern if they struggle.

That's why Kdb is not even half of half of half of Modric
Modric can die for our badge and for his country as well
If his physio comes to him and says "Luka if you play in the Euros full 90 you'll lose your legs"
He'll still play for his nation for his motherland
Just watch Croatia reaching the semis!

The thing about Ancelotti and Madrid you are not going to beat them twice. They learn from their mistakes and get better

Lunin should hand in a transfer request after season ends. He's proven he deserves to be a starter in La Liga or any other top 4 league (ger, eng, ita). Otherwise he'd be on bench watching the big Belgian play almost entire next season. Unless injury again or big fall off in form to the top man. I'm sure there'd be a few clubs interested.

As much as I enjoy bantering Arsenal. This is getting ridiculous Saka literally didn’t even play tonight and is receiving heavy criticism.

He was on the field for 90 plus minutes but you’re right he was so bad it’s like he didn’t play

Towards end of game priority for both teams was not to concede. Pep sacrifice debryune and halaand because real madrid had also taken out their attackers
