For Ryan in particular the investment into Wrexham wasn't really about the club per se...at least originally. It was how he could leverage the club to provide a boost to the community. That was his initial focus because he never really cared about sports. You can actually see the moment he becomes a football fan in Season 1 of the documentary. He attended a game at The Racecourse and Wrexham managed to score an equalizer in the last minutes and win the game in injury time. At the end of the match, Ryan was just slumped over in the corner overcome with emotion. Since their takeover North Wales as a whole has benefited. After all Wrexham of all places is now a tourist destination for people from around the world. Those tourists need lodgings to stay in and restaurants to eat at. That means more business for the places in and around Wrexham. Those places will need to hire more staff to cope with the additional business. That means more jobs for the people in and around Wrexham. Those newly employed local people now have more money to spend in and around Wrexham.

Having promotion and relegation in a sport changes the mentality of the sport and makes it more realistic because in real life people are promoted and relegated. I'm an American but I stopped watching NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB years ago because it's boring and it's been the same teams at the top for years now. It's great having MLS in the United States but we need at least two more leagues so that relegation and promotion can be added. There are a lot of talented futbol players in the U.S. Definitely enough to create two more leagues. If Wrexham can make it to the Premier League that would be a great accomplishment but staying in the Premier League is a completely different story. ^ ^ KC

In fact, they've had serious skin in the game for a while, so their experience is 10 fold a normal spectator's. Hopefully the inevitable correction that's bound to happen (progress is never linear), they won't get stressed out of their minds and start to become too hands-on. The way they do it now is perfect, so they need to stick with it through the good and bad times. They're really unto something and if they keep this up, there's really nothing to stop them from breaking into the EPL. They have a fan catchment area of the whole of North Wales, international fans coming over thanks to the TV show exposure which opens up another revenue stream, the owners make stadium improvements and community involvement a top priority and acquire players very sensibly and don't rush or splash crazy money for overpriced overhyped players.
I'm sure if you asked the majority of Luton Town fans who when they got relegated from the football league in 2009 and nearly bankrupted would believe you if you said that you will be playing Premiership football by 2023. Swansea City came one game away from getting relegated to the football league but fans took over the club and began to run it sensibly making steady progress until they made the Premiership and won a League Cup , there are dozens of other examples of this.
Wrexham have a great chance of making the Premiership and could do so by the end of this decade if they continue to build as well as they have so far because other teams with less means than them have done it.
