Nerf Blaster Jangular
Disassembling something with a ton of screws and then reassembling it and realizing I forgot to put some parts back in really gets me sometimes
Definitely done that before, usually gets me to take a break from it lol
The "Unfun" aspects of my hobbies generally pertain to three things: low progression of disposable funds; lack of space for playtime and display; and keeping them maintained and tidy. So the first one is the root of all the unfun areas of my hobbies, followed by the second one, because ideally, I would add another room to my domicile dedicated to my hobbies to solve the second unfun reason. But then, I'll need more funds to fill the room with display furnitures that can both showcase my hobbies and still be accessible to be enjoyed by others and myself. Even if the second pet peeve gets resolved, cleaning and maintenance can sometimes be a chore that I'd rather not do. Yet again, more funds are needed to acquire cleaning and maintenance utensils. Whether it's after an afternoon of enjoying my hobbies or just to keep them from accumulating dust, swapping the dirty clear plastic dome or vacuum formed Lexan that's covering dioramas with a clean one, wiping the exterior clear walls of display cases, or making sure things are still in working order, these are my least favorite activities when it comes to my hobbies (Yes, I would have at least one clean spare covering to avoid dust settling on the display while I clean the dirty one and yes they would have to be materials that are not free flowing like clear sheets or drop cloths so they can be taken off easily without dispersing the accumulated dust and/or knocking over parts of the display that are not permanently affixed to it and messing up the diorama, and the covering must also be easily put back on). Although, I don't mind doing the cleaning and maintenance when I'm adding recently acquisitioned items to my hobbies or rearranging the layouts to suit a specific visual story telling aesthetic. Thank you Jangular for pointing out the most important reason why we should not take the "Unfun" parts of our hobby for granted, and that is; without the "Unfun" layers of our hobbies, we would not be able to enjoy our hobbies for as long as our hobbies are able to let us. Sorry for yet another long comment. Have a blessed day Bruh.
I try to look at the tedious tasks as a form of "Productive Laziness". Spend an hour doing it today to save 3 hours tomorrow.
That's a solid perspective to have!
This whole video has been my entire mood for about 6 months now. Ugh...I think this was a great concept for a video that not a lot of people talk about though! I really like the way you approach these things and cast a little light on them to bring discussion. Hope you've been doing well!
Thank you, I hope you've been doing well even with lack of motivation lately, and that you can find that for the things you want!
There are tedious parts of all hobbies. I personally go insane over catch springs when modding a blaster. I just remind myself that I have to walk away, calm down and then finish the blaster. And there's nothing quite like firing a modded blaster and having it work. That satisfaction is worth the frustration
Kid you not. Gave up on moddibg springers for that
Oh yeah, definitely spent some time looking for catch springs that fly out lol.
For me that’s the modding aspect of the hobby, I’m just more of a player
I can relate, I started out that way and definitely prefer playing over modding still.
I have a handful of hardware kits for blasters I want to play with, but I can't bring myself to build them. I don't like that part. -Addy
My half built Spring Thunder from over a year ago can relate lol
@@Jangular So can my White-Out Maverick I got from Goodwill almost 5 years ago (swapping out broken and worn out parts to make the blaster functional again). :)
I saw you were on the announcement video for orange mod works, do you have you hear anything about the cybertek line. Its well past release date. And no word on them. Worried they have just taken $100+ and run
You might shoot orange modworks an email, I heard earlier this week it may be cancelled.
@@matthewbecker2544 yeah did that a week or so ago, no response. Thanks tho
@@matthewbecker2544 I have been emailing them once a month since September asking for any updates. No reply.
Currently I don't have any information, if I ever do it'll end up on a video on their channel since that's what they contract me for.
@@Jangular thank you Jang. Appreciate your reply 🙏
I don't find much things unenjoyable, I find most hibbying is enjoying when I blast some metal and eat crackers.
my problem is lack of motivation, after school it just feels so much easier to sit on my phone, and now schoolwork is increasing so is my lack of motivation. I could go on for ages on why I hate the school system, I just want to paint some minis, but school says no.
I just found your channel btw, I live need and 40k so a combination of those two in one channel is amazing!
I'm glad you enjoy both of those hobbies, and totally true that after work/school it can be hard to start things, but I hope you can find the way to do it!
Have you seen the drop tops from Dr tabletop? Pop onto GW pots and turn them into droppers
I haven't, I'll have to look into those, thanks for the heads up!
I love/have loved all of my hobbies in my life but I can also name the one part which is the worst for all of the hobbies I've been involved with....
Unpacking your car and getting your gear / materials back inside the house and organizing
Totally a draining feeling when you get home and you're already tired lol
For me it's the fact that I live in Austria. No games. Yay
I really hate painting it's just not my thing so I just don't. lots of people say that you have to paint mods even if it's just "functional" to hid epoxy and stuff but I totally disagree. As for the lipos my favourite method of discharging is to put it in salt water basically add 30g of salt per litre then leave the lipo in it for about 3 days to a week and it should discharge your lipo fairly easy and you don't need a whole lot of materials.
As long as you aren't impacting the way someone else hobbies or putting people in danger etc, you hobby the way you want to.
Yes jang, after paintball, we get home tired, and we have a pile of dirty and smelly gear laundry to wash. The buying of somewhat pricey cases of paint.
Oh yeah, the cost of paint is definitely a disappointing thing, gotta imagine it makes practicing expensive, even with more affordable practice paint.
Hey man I feel you. My 3d printer started not working right a while back and we've meant to cold pull it and clean it but it's just been on the backburner forever. I totally get this I have so many mod plans but not a lot of motivation bc all our things are cancelled anyways
That lack of events definitely adds to lack of motivation, I hope you can get it fixed and printing again though!
@@Jangular yeah we just got the firmware updated! Just need to do the cleaning now
I watch hour long videos of Markiplier and jacksepticeye to keep me entertained while I do a boring task such as homework or when I clean my shop
Things like that can definitely help!
For me with Gunpla it's definitely making legs, Idk why, but I just hate building them.
For 3D printing I hate to slice them because they take forever.
Volleyball is doing reps, but they of course make sense to do.
Understandable things, everyone has their own, but always hope the end result is worth it.
I have my good days and bad. I miss going out to source the parts I need for my various hobbies. That excites me to use them. Having to order everything from the internet feels like work and those things are more likely to sit unused.
I can see that, missing an element you enjoy can make things harder.
I used to like modding more than playing, then the lockdowns hit. And now they apparently found a new strain in the uk and new York wants to stay in lock down until the end of 2022.
Did someone say sanding epoxy putty? Sanding and sanding and sanding....
And sanding some more!
Yeah, perler beads are almost all “unfun” but the end product is so nice
I can imagine, but definitely produces cool things!
Sanding blaster shells is unfun. As a mainly cosmetic modder I have to sand a lot and I hate it but it does lead to the fun stuff so a necessary part of it unfortunately.
I feel that so much, sanding is so valuable but so time consuming.
Would a pipet dropper help with your paint time.
I've tried that and it didn't quite work for me unfortunately, may just be because I wasn't thinning things down enough, but got to a point I was concerned I was using too much. Thanks for the thought though!
Run a mag of darts through your blaster once a week. Been using the same lipos for almost 3 years.
Seems like an idea to try, just have to remember haha.
Kakashi dance
Picking up darts
Definitely isn't the most fun part.
This dripper bottle method intrigues me. Can you elaborate or point me in a direction? I've never heard of this, and I've thrown away more than a little money in dried out paint...
Basically you can buy empty dropper bottles in a similar size to the vallejo paint bottles and transfer your gw paints into them, but if you want it to be a smooth process you want to thin the paints so they flow easier etc.
1st world problems
What is this, a funnel for ants? I do wonder if using a small syringe to transfer paint would be faster
I tried pipets, a syringe may be a little different though, could look into it.
