Exactly what i was looking for! You did every single thing that ive been wanting to do to mine (wich i dont own yet, im getting it next year) it looks great man. Goodjob
I would consider adding a grenade launcher and possibly a bayonet Then again for salt watter ops you may want to chrome line the barell and slap a small searchlight to the trigger guard..just a couple more practical upgrade ideas for your 12 oz sub compact single stack!!
I am purchasing a Kel-tec PF9 tomorrow. I own 4 Kahr pistols and they break too. Expensive guns and not good customer service. I will be doing some of the mods that you described. Thanks for posting.
I don't know if you still have the PF9 but you can now upgrade the trigger with a Macarbo. Also Crimson trace has a dedicated laser activated on just squeezing the grip.
@crailberry Yeah, I have seen others have this issue. Unfortunately, I think the only way to fix it is to change how the weapon is held. Search youtube for "Todd Jarrett on pistol shooting" (without quotations). I changed my grip about a year ago to this style and in doing so I have become more accurate and can gain target acquisition quicker. If you choose to hold the weapon this way the mag release button is not touched so the issue goes away. I hope this helps. Happy shooting!
I got one of these from my Grandfather I plan to carry. That light looks very weak in lumens.. would have loved to see a night shot. You basically stated what I am reading all over.. these guns have to be worked on to be reliable. Thank you for the explanation of your mods. I have already done most of what you suggested and have the same modifications.. grip, mag extnesion, steel guide rod.. Looking forward to carrying it.
My Dad past one of these on to me and I put a Hogue HandAll Beavertail Grip Sleeve for Glock 42/43 (18200) to mitigate the snappy recoil and am going to do a couple other mods to it. I have used this grip on another pretty snappy single stack 9mm and it worked out great. This will be my "camping" gun I can be super active with because it just tucks away on my waist and yet delivers 9mm ballistics.
He just used any bolt larger than the guide rod. He didn't "mill" it because you don't use a milling machine. He turned it on a lathe. Interesting, because anyone who has the basic skill to machine knows the terminology.
I recently picked up a PF9, and I have a major issue with it. The magazine release button. When I first got it, I would only hit the button a few times out of 150 rounds. But now, EVERY SINGLE TIME i fire the damn weapon, my thumb hits the release button and out pops the mag. It is driving me insane. Do you not have this issue? I would love to carry this firearm, but obviously that would currently be a bad idea. Any recommendations?
If you are activating the magazine release when firing the weapon, you are gripping the weapon incorrectly. with a properly cleared weapon, grip it as you would to shoot, then analyze the way your hand wraps the weapon. Then change your grip to eliminate touching the magazine release without compromising the grip. Practice this until it works well. Dry fire your weapon for practice also.
i'm so confused how your thumb is positioned with that much force to push it in and release the mag lol. when holding mine, my pointer finger is on the trigger obviously, but my thumb pretty much rests on top my middle finger...i was trying to see how you were having issues so i positioned my thumb over the button but i don't have any force on it. my thumb just sits there lightly with no force or grip on the gun...my other two fingers gripping the grip and my pinky is on the bottom of the mag...my thumb is like that with a regular size pistol as well, just rests, no force on the gun
Lasers aren't for distance shooting like you are implying. They are quicker for target acquisition since you don't have to try to line up your sights. They are also superior in dim light situations where you may not see your sights at all.
I have a kel tec pf9 no issue at all had it 5 years now.

what kind of bolt did you use for the guide rod

Get a Shield.

Been a while since you done this have you upgraded your recoil spring to a 20 lbs spring instead of the factory 16lbs spring?
You got to be kidding me how are you going to carry all that ?the laser on a Kel- tec what are you shooting ?
