    I purchased one this last summer and after 100+ rounds it has ran flawlessly. It kicks like a mule, but I'm not sorry I bought mine, very inexpensive and reliable. I believe the newer production ones have worked out the issues and are much better than they are given credit for (especially by the gun snobs). ~Ken

      +Ken & Ellen Sudduth They can be very reliable little guns. They conceal really well too. Your aren't wrong about the recoil. That is the main reason I replaced mine with a Shield.
      Thanks for watching!

      +OreGear My main EDC is a M&P 9c. I used to have a Shield, it's an awesome pistol but I like the higher capacity of the 9c and I can use full size mags too if I want. I'm a bigger guy (6'2" 240lbs) so the 9c disappears on me using my Galco King Tuck. I bought the PF9 for pocket carry when I have to dress up and don't want to wear my 9c IWB (gives me options). So I only carry it about 15% of the time and my 9c the rest. The recoil is ridiculous on the PF9, but if I ever actually had to use it in a defensive situation I figure that will be the least of my concerns. ~Ken

      I'm in a similar situation, just replace the 9c with a Glock 19. The king tuk was my daily carry option until I switched to appendix carry. Every now and then I'll go back to my king tuk which allows me to carry my backup in the appendix location.

    I’ve had my pf9 for about 4 years. It’s my personal carry. Had some FTE & FTR issues during break in. Polished the feeder ramp and rails on the slide and has run flawlessly for 1000+ rounds. Has a lot of recoil. Not a fun gun to shoot but great for what it is intended.

    I've had mine for about a year now. I didn't think I'd ever want a Kel-Tec....however there is a lot to like about this gun, and not just the $156 I paid. Just got done installing the stainless guide rod, and putting the +1 mag extension on one of my magazines. It makes for a good spare to carry, and use at the range. I'm probably the only person who thinks there's nothing wrong w/the trigger...feels similar to the LCP, or Bodyguard trigger, and tons of ppl carry those. The trigger seems fine for a high stress situation. Even tho this is an older review, u seem very honest abt it. You seem like the kinda person who loves Glock. Mostly Glock folks trash-out Kel-Tec like its the worst gun. I'm certain it's not. It serves it's purpose....my experience has been favourable. I have no doubt if I pulled this gun during self defense, it would fire like it always has.

    First off let me say that this should not have been my first auto loader. Second let me say that after many hours of range time, and a few good blisters on my right hand, I was able to train myself to shoot this gun a lot better, and now I love it. And as an added bonus, I have noticed that when I pick up a bigger gun, I'm way better than I used to be. I'm sure with lots of range time on any gun I would have gotten better, but probably not as good as fast. Since this particular firearm is very unforgiving, it forced me to think about every aspect of my grip, stance, sights, and trigger control for every single shot. The trigger breaks when the hammer gets to the bottom of the frame (where the metal meets the polymer). A little practice by sight and you will get the feel for exactly when your trigger breaks. I didn't get a trigger spring upgrade because there's no safety and I carry mine with the belt clip and not a holster. I have been thinking about a metal trigger and a heavier recoil spring although I'm not sure if that will make it pickier with ammo. I've had this gun for years and so far, it's shot every round I put through it, as long as I keep my thumb away from the mag release. All in all, easy to carry but hard to shoot. This is not a "save the day" gun, it's a last resort.

    A couple of mistakes. The M&P Shield is not the same size as the PF9. The Shield is thicker and heavier. Also, you misunderstood the purpose of the "10 round magazine" in thinking it is in your pistol when the gun is carried concealed. No, it is your SPARE magazine which is concealed elsewhere on your person.

    Trigger can be improved greatly with an MCarbo upgrade.

    I just subscribed to your channel, you did a nice job with this video. I guess these are like high points, folks either lov em or hate em. I watched hank stranges video awhile back when he toured Keltec with Chad and have sort of been a fan since. I have the p32, p3sat, p11 and the pf9 and there are several more I want. My 2 favorite are the p32 and the pf9. The 32 is a blast to shot and weighs practically nothin. I would shoot the 32 everyday if the ammo wasn't so dang expensive. your groups should tighten up with a little more range time, just anticipating recoil to much I guess.It is a little snappy but it doesn't hurt by any means, I can't shoot groups as tight as I can with my Glock 34 or my Kimber 1911 but certainly good enuff at close range to be effective, even with your flyers that would still slow a bad guy to a crawl. I've run about 600 rounds thru mine and no failures of any kind. This is just me but I would not trade it for a shield, which is a fine gun, but it is almost 7 oz heavier, huge difference for me when it comes to carrying. Bore axis is a little high, true enuff but difference in striker and hammer fired. It just takes range time to get comfortable with trigger and bore axis. But these little guns are capable of more accuracy than you might think, check out hickok45's 2 videos on the pf9. This was a good honest video and I really enjoyed it and look forward to watching more.

      Mike McCauley I have since purchased a Shield and a Glock 43 while keeping my PF9. Regardless of how much range time I have I'm not sure I'd be able to close up these groups. The fact that it becomes physically painful after a couple mags makes it almost impossible for my brain to allow me to keep tight groups. Since the video, I've had two more failure to extracts on different kinds of ammo. Considering I can shoot the Shield and 43 far better than the PF9, I don't see any reason for me to continue to cycle it through my EDC. That said, I would not tell someone who likes the PF9 to stop carrying it. If it works for you then more power to you. The thing about firearms is something that doesn't work for one person is the greatest thing in the world for another person. I think that Kel Tec has some great firearms, I'd love to get a KSG at some point and I'm really anxious to see how the new Sub-2000 is when those start getting out.
      Thanks for watching!

    question , when I go to rack the slide to the rear the barrel and guide rod slightly points upward. is that suppose to happen? I bought the gun brand new.

    • @OreGear
      @OreGear  Před 9 lety

      Yes, that is completely normal. The tilt-barrel design is one of the glorious inventions of John Moses Browning. Almost all semi auto pistols use that system. Some guns like high points or the Remington R51 don't do that.

      OreGear thanks! I was arguing with one of my friends about this. He thought it was wrong. and there was something broken inside

      Yeah, it's totally normal. Everyone's gotta start somewhere so theres no stupid questions. I've still got a lot to learn myself.

      All of my semi autos do that. I guess your friend has pellet guns.

  • @paoutdooradventurestv426

    nobody seems to really like these but I love mine good accuracy out to 20yds reliable put about 450rds through it 97% of the ammo I fired went flawless all besides golden saber 147gr jhp other then that no problems mine tends to favor the Winchester usa 115gr fmj and 115gr jhp I have the all black thinking bout buying another in the two tone version their great little pistols for the money and I actually enjoy shooting it

    • @OreGear
      @OreGear  Před 10 lety +1

      They are definitely good for the money. As I said I've only had one failure in 500 rounds and it was with steel cased ammo which a lot of guns have issues with anyway. If it had a better trigger then I would probably have nothing bad to say about it.
