Filoni's movie could be great, the problem I'm having right now is that all his shows are having to jump through hoops to make the the sequel trilogy make sense and it is bringing shows like the Mandalorian down. The first two seasons of Mando was great because we just focused on him and Grogu making their way in the Galaxy, but this season has spent a lot of time showing how incompetent the New Republic is to make sense how how the First Order rose up. Also in both Mando and the Bad Batch they are talking a lot about cloning just so the "Some how Palpatine returned" can actually work since it didn't work in that trilogy.

You make a great point about Finn - It's very sad that they decided to go cookie cutter with the writing in episode 9 (although episode 8 was very anti-Finn also). I kept waiting and waiting for Finn to have his moments, and they never came.
I almost guarantee it's because he was on board with controversial writing decisions for his character that China had problems with... They probably fired or deterred anyone with interesting ideas from writing for his character... And I say that as someone who doesn't consider that idea as a great one, it was just so much better than doing nothing, his character was far more interesting than Rey and then episodes 8 and 9 just redoubled his worst traits as though just like Rey he never had a character arc... It is bafflingly terrible character writing, like a writer who got a piece of daytime soap opera writing became a movie writing lead without realizing that keeping characters undeveloped is something you only do if your audience is watching your movie daily.
After hearing the original episode 9 idea, I can't believe they did him dirty. Originally, Finn would lead a group of deserted First Order troopers on Coruscant
First movie had me excited for Finn but then Johnson screwed everything over. There was no recovering from Last Jedi.

Them focusing on specific timelines could backfire though if they end up releasing a bad show or movie in a time period we want to see more of. They'll interpret us not liking it as we just don't want to see any more of that time period.
They didn't exactly listen to a lot fans who don't particularly want to more of the Sequels, so I doubt that will stop them.
It's beyond annoying that they keep milking the Skywalkers, the prequels should've been the last SW content we got from anything related to the Skywalkers, almost every single fucking thing they've put out since then has been related to the goddamn Skywalker legacy, that's why Rogue One, Andor and Mandalorian were so good because they had nothing to do with the Skywalker storyline (Until Mandalorian couldn't help itself and starting dipping it's toes into murky waters, way to make the "Galaxy" feel tiny by having Ahsoka, Luke, Bo Katan, Boba Fett, Cad Bane and everyone show up in an isolated story about a random bounty hunter, all in the name of fan service.) have some fucking originality Disney...

I dream of seeing a four part movie series based off the X-wing books. The rebel alliance playing politics and space battles with the remnants of the empire to unseat the empire from coruscant after return of the jedi. Such a fantastic book series, and really leans into the whole other side of Star Wars. Jedi and sith are fun yes, but so are massive dogfights in space and battleship warfare. Best keep

I have never wanted to be a Sith more in my entire life. Seriously, I do not think a new Rey focused trilogy will ever work unless they fundamentally rework all the issues we saw before.
As for a possible conflict, they have a whole list of stuff from Legends they can bring back in. Uzon-Vong for example.
Maybe they're just going to swap in Rey for Kyle Katarn (I can dream, can't I?)...though sometimes amateurish...I found the EU to be charming...and there's a benefit to not being a veteran writer with a system...amateurs take more chances, throw better twists, and sometimes just write natural conversation better (or at least more interesting)...It's a literal gold mine if they took crews that care about the material and just polish up the old stuff...I'm sure with Disney's money, just letting them back into the universe and re-printing the books would have the authors give Disney their blessing...most of them were fan writers to begin with...and there are so many writers, it's like reading Warhammer 40K, you never know what you are going to get...

Giving Rey a new film (or trilogy) is the final nail in the coffin for this franchise as a whole. The fact that Kathleen Kennedy expects success from any of these projects just proves her ignorance has no bounds.

I think I can speak for most critics when I say this. I DON'T have an issue with diversity casting. I DO have an issue when characters are poorly written, then given a "diversity" sticker slapped on to call it a day.
I loved Vi from Arcane. She's tough, and it feels believable because of what she has to overcome (a traumatic past while trying to protect Powder). She also has internal flaws that have consequences; her hard headedness and anger led to her driving away people like Powder and Caitlyn. At the end of the day, she feels like a human that is growing, and I enjoy watching her journey.
I hated Lady Galadriel from Rings of Power. She's tough, and it doesn't feel believable to me (sure she's old and experienced, but so are her elf colleagues that she's miles better at combat and decision making). She doesn't seem to have internal flaws since she's so physically strong as well as always right. And because of it, there are no consequences that she has to face and grow from. I can't relate to her in any way, and I find her to be very boring.
You want the audience to like your diverse leads? Make the diverse leads well written; that's the same requirement while male leads needed back then.

There's nothing wrong with a diverse cast. However, we need to stop changing characters that were actually a different ethnicity originally. It's lazy and offensive. Making new characters without over or under spotlighting them so they feel equal in importance would be far better.

Perhaps critically. But they just want to bring out productions en MASS, which keeps people checking out their stuff, in theaters, on streaming. Everything these days is about engagement, and it doesn't really matter if it's good or bad. BIG BRAND NAMES is what keeps people returning, even people who "got burned" by the supposed "bad ones". Most people just can't help themselves and they NEED to see it. - So it's quantity over quality and they just need to have things out to appease the business side of things. - And it's not going anywhere that way, it will keep going as long as there is engagement, which won't just go away because of negative criticism. Otherwise the Star Wars franchise would already have ended with the last trilogy, perhaps even the prequels, and also the MCU would have ended because of the many mediocre movies they put out (really, many sit around 6 to 7 on IMDb, which isn't particularly good, just good enough to not lose most engagement).
Imagine a star wars trilogy about Finn where he is a serious clone trooper but having doubts about the orders he's given and then he finds out he's force sensitive. He escapes the First Order with Poe and they both end up getting help from a junk scrapper pilot, Rey, and the entire thing kind of becomes the three of them joining the resistance, finding their place in the galaxy, and fighting the baddies.

They have a perfect parallel material to draw inspiration from in Star Wars legends for the New Jedi Order. In KOTOR 2 (canonically) Meetra Surik was a female Jedi who had to completely rebuild the Jedi from the ground up. Incredible story that focused heavily on the companion characters and the world left recovering from previous events. DONâT focus on Rey, bring FIN back, and focus on the story elements that made previous Jedi startups interesting.
It's too late, they would have to de-cannonise the sequel trilogy and stop hiring liberal woke writers and directors.

Aside from that, i want a Sith-centric movie or series to show thier pov and show the good and bad sith struggle for power and control against each other. A sort of game of thrones-like set in the sith empire at the time of the old republic or even earlier than that.
Maybe when they get to the days of the Old Republic in about, oh, never.

Just a small correction; Bioware did the games of the Old Republic but the studio that did the cinematics was Blur Studio, masters at doing epic cinematics. Also the Josh Trank F4 fiasco was because of studio intervention, don't blame the artists unless they had full control.

You know there was this plot line in the Fate of the Jedi series where this sect of Sith known as the Lost Tribe of the Sith made their way back to the known galaxy due to an ancient Sith ship that basically charted the map for them. The Sith are all descendants from ancient Sith that fled the galaxy during the first Sith vs Jedi war. Though I doubt Disney is smart enough to use that source for their movies. Probably donât even know it exist
What made Star Wars great is the storytelling , good characters, and interesting world building. George Lucas planned out his own trilogy. But now that Disney bought Star Wars, I just can't help but to think they're just milking money just to make a cash grab.

Would it be possible to see some kind of survivor horror movie in Star Wars? Aren't there creatures who are immune to the force, aren't affected by lightsabers and hunt force users? What if Rey and Finn create a jedi order out of desperation to fight these creatures? Just throwing some ideas around.

For Dawn of the Jedi, the director already has some bases since in Clone Wars, Anakin met The Father, The Son and the Daughter, if they don't touch those characters it think it will create a bigger mess.

If you have a problem with an all white male hetero cast then you are the racist and sexist. And dont start with "representation". If you cant relate to the struggles and arch of a character and his journey because of his skin color or sex... or you need a black superman because otherwise you are unable to have a hero that you can relate to... guess what: You are the racist.
Diversity for the sake of diversity is probably a bad thing. To fuck up historical things is also bad (black queen of england ffs or making all white red haired women black with dreads). Its definately bad if it takes up room in your script to force it down the throats of your audience to ensure they get that character XY is a black non-binary lesbian.... its bad writing and has no place or purpose in the story that you are telling. Good diversity is not perceived. Its invisible since its organic. Look at "Arcane" for example. You don't notice ANY of that stuff. You have a diverse cast with strong female leads and you dont notice shit. Thats good writing or having the correct priorities. Story and having proper characters.

100 Space Wizards running around the galaxy is still a lot. I liked it when Yoda, Obi-Wan, and Luke are the only ones left. It gives the story tension, sadness, dread. If there's 100 Space Wizards left, they can just invent any Jedi they want, say Master Ronald McDonald from The Outer Rim. It destroys the feeling of extinction.

Wookie Jedi were a big thing in the original Legends continuity until for some reason in the mid 90s George Lucas de-canonised them rather publicly for no apparent reason. Nice to see them back.

Daisy Ridley was never the problem for me, the writing never gave her enough of an arc. I think if she could get better writing then it could definitely work. As far as Fynn, John Boyegga may not even want to come back. I love Star Wars, so I'm excited for all of the new content. I mean when Revenge of the Sith came out I thought that was going to be it with the exception of books and video games.

@@KhanMann66 A lot of people said that about Hayden Christensen as Anakin, now 20ish years later those that grew up watching those movies were beyond excited to see him return in Obiwan. By the time the Rey movie comes out in 2025 a lot of kids who saw the Force Awakens in 2016 will be teenagers or young adults. Could it be bad? Absolutely. But I wanna be optimistic cause this is a franchise that means so much to me, it's something I share with family and even during the lows it doesn't "destroy my childhood".

There are so many ideas that realistically I can see myself looking forward to and enjoying any of them. And at the same time I have absolutely no faith in the writing at Disney at this point that all of them could be crap. They should just get the team behind Andor to do all of it and at least I'd have abit more faith.
It's all about the director and writing team. I wasn't overly interested in Andor but because of the team behind it, it was sensational. Get a top level director, producer and writers on it then I'm sold on anything.

Here's how you fix Star Wars. Seriously I have the correct answer. The movie starts with with "flash backs" of The last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker. Then Finn wakes up in the healing tank and goes OMG what a horrible and vivid nightmare. Then we're right back after the end of The Force Awakens. REDO that doesn't suck GOGO!
It should include Finn, because in the Lego (yes i know i said Lego) Holiday special that was a key part of the plot where Rey was teaching Finn how to be a jedi. But John Boyega might not want to come back to disney.
