- Of all the Star Wars announcements at Celebration 2023, we are most excited for the new movies. One featuring Rey forming a new Jei order 15 years after the Rise of Skywalker, one by James Mangold about the Dawn of the Jedi, and finally a Mandalorian Avengers-like Culminatin film by Dave Filoni, where the New Republic likely faces Grand Admiral Thrawn.

I know, Lucasfilm has given us a lot of false starts, which I’m going to talk about in a second. But it seems like they’ve finally regrouped and have a plan for the future of this galaxy. I’m cautiously optimistic because it looks like Lucasfilm is finally correcting their early mistakes-because let’s face it, the studio has made an enormous amount of errors in the past ten years, and squandered what was the most anticipated Star Wars trilogies ever made.
In a little bit I’m, going to talk to a couple Star wars experts, colton ogburn and dod seitz about this, but first I want to tell you why I’m so excited, and why you should be excited about these announcements, but first, let’s look back at how we got here, so we know exactly what Lucasfilm has done wrong.
So when Disney bought Lucasfilm in 2012, the studio wasn;t ramped up to make a lot of Star Wars content. There were clone wars episodes being created, the usual comics and expanded universe material, and they had also completed several episodes of what appears to be a terrible animated show called Detours [clip].
Lucas had just started to develop a story for Episode 7 with screenwriter Michael Arndyt, who wrote Little Miss Sunshine and toy story 3. You can find accounts of what that story would have been online.
When Lucas sold his company, he thought Lucasfilm would make the trilogy he outlined, but instead they decided to go another way. The work of Arndt was dismissed, and they essentially outsourced the movie to Bad Robot, JJ abrams’ production company. Disney was very bullish about the franchise, saying they planned to make an eerie year, alternating between saga films and spin-off films.
But, and this is key, this new trilogy was not planned out. JJ Abrams is a sponsor of the mystery box storytelling, where the mystery of something is the appeal of the story. Normally, Star Wars movies had 3 years between installments, but the new trilogy only had two years. So Rian Johnson was given carte blanche to continue the story of episode 7, and Jurassic world’s Colin Trevaarow was able to develop episode 9 picking up from there.
And then the spinoff films had massive production problems. Rogue one’s final act was totally re-editing with extensive reshoots, with some accounts saying that Tony Gilroy should have been credited as co-director with Gareth edwards. Solo had completed more than half of principal photography when directors Phil lord and Chris miller left the project for “creative differences,” [clip] Leaving Ron Howard to reshoot huge sections of the movie and even recasting the movie’s villain from Michael K williams to Paul betany. Yes, we almost had Omar in Star wars.
And then other spinoff movies like Josh Trank’s Boba Fett movie were killed in development. Solo was the first star wars movie to arrive to roars of apathy, so Lucasfilm decided that original trilogy characters couldn;t be recast.
Doug: Well that's silly, we just don't care about a young Han solo movie. Doens;t matter who’s playing him.
Exactly. They took the wrong lesson from Solo’s failure. So now we have to squint at deep fake Luke and pretend it's Mark hamill. I mena, they’re trying, but this is not a human being guys.
And the last jedi was one of the best-made star wars films ever, but it was maybe too brave where the force awakens was too timid, and there was massive, very vocal backlash form a minority of fans.
Puppet: What do you ena minority of fans. We are legion!
The movie made 1.3 billion dollars. It Was weird watching Luke milk a sea cow, but most people liked the movie. But still, Lucasfilm knows that Star Wars should be pleasing as many people as possible, so it over-corrected for the last Jedi backlash. - Krátké a kreslené filmy
What did you think of the new movie announcements?
I hope the Rey flick borrows from Anderson's Jedi Academy series
I'm glad. I loved the sequels actually.

Idk where to go to get unbiased Star Award coverage anymore? On one hand you got the Geeks& Gamers/ Nerdrotic crew that just automatically shit on everything Star Wars. Then you got Screen Crush that is the opposite spectrum and hates on Gina Carano and loves the high republic novels. Can we just get middle of the road coverage?

No amount of new movies will ever make up for the fact that we never got to see Luke, Leia and Han together again.
That should have happened 40 yrs ago.
point, if they were together bet fans would have said fan service
@@pretty5793 It did happen 40 years ago... The original ending of RotJ has all 3 of them hugging each and celebrating together, then Luke looks across to see the Force ghosts of Yoda and Obiwan watching on, as his father (Anakin) joins them. It was beautiful.
The Firefly movie was brilliant! It stood on it's own and actually made me go back and look at the show.
What hurt most about the sequels is that Rey, Finn, Poe and even Kylo Ren had such potential and they are played by such fantastic actors, but where let down by bad scripts.
Agreed. I am confused how legacy fans are "toxic" for not liking it, but then the "regular" fans not liking it too is ok?
I do agree actors shouldn't really catch hate unless they actively ruin their portrayal. It really isn't their fault.
@@nicksawrickshaw537 Last jedi fans love to trash OT fans and call them Toxic for not being okay with with the sequel Trilogy 💩💩💩💩

I second Dave Filoni being the secret sauce!
He is the key to everything
That man is our last hope....
No, another there is!
Giving Rey the story we wanted to see for Luke is not going to please the fans. It’s just poking the bear.
Somebody would say you are toxic, but you are not. You are just a realistic and sensible. She is not a bad actress tho, you are pointing out the idiotic writing, like a realistic and sensible person would be doing.
Honestly. The fans will never be happy
Yeah, it's kind of just cementing Luke as a false re-start. I'll give it chance, but my disappointment with the sequel trilogy will be hard to overcome.
Poke it
Thank you exactly!
I... What? I saw Doug's voice come out of Ryan!!!
Ryan is just a puppet of Doug!
I just want more grounded Star Wars works myself. My favourite thing they've done since prequel trilogy is legit the prison scenes in Andor and the stuff on Coruscant with reformed Empire members. It's just so interesting.
More of Tony Gilroy's work would be welcome, but he might've decide to move on already. Andor was awesome.
I think that the Dave Filoni film is going to be based off the Thrawn trilogy ( most likely the last command) if it is I hope that Timothy Zahn is a writer or helps with the production of the film.
He also was involved with the Ahsoka show so I think he will also be involved with the movie
Obsessed with this episode and guests! Stoked to no end with the films announcement!! I'm a 'lifer' and love the films because they give us these fill-in stories. "It's like poetry"
Being at Star Wars celebration seeing everything was amazing the Ahsoka Trailer with thrawn and the Sneak peak at Bad Batch S3 was amazing
You fail to mention that TLJ was on a pace to make force awakens money after the first weekend. But then crapped the bed at the box office after that. Sure there are fans of the movie but it didn’t get enough secondary views from die hard fans or good word of mouth. It made a lot of money mostly because of anticipation and it has Star Wars on the poster
Yeah, box office numbers aren't a good criteria to find popularity, rotten tomatoes is much better.
And the rise of Skywalker only made half of what The Force Awakens made. Plus the Joker movie made more than tros, insert mark hamill joker laugh.
The Last Jedi was a Rain Johnson ego trip, his only interest was to divide the fanbase, ignoring whatever pathetic mystery box crumbs JJ dropped as he stumbled through memberberries New Hope that was TFA.
Disney so badly fucked up star wars that recovery seems unlikely
Andor was the bright hope, but nothing seems to be branching off that, instead we get Rey Mary fucking Sue in another movie I guarantee you will be dire garbage.
My father and i walked into force awakens thinking my god it will be a legacy from my father's time to mine but no hell no we walked out in mid film
Great discussion guys, thanks!!!
Whatever your opinion is of him, Filoni is Lucas's heir. He trained with him, understands him, and shares both positives and negatives of his approach.
hes too stuck on Ashoka but ya
Dave Feloni should own the license
The sequel movies did a huge disservice to the fans, there are many reasons, but most is that the direction just doesn't make sense, the battle hardened rebellion just gives up it's army/navy, Luke and his Jedi school is overthrown by one guy, Luke who believed in the good of Darth VADER just gives up on his nephew and the galaxy, then Kylo Ren who overthrew Luke and the school gets defeated by a young Rey who has never been in a lightsaber fight. And then Palpatine returns which undoes the whole Anakin story arc.
I find Screen Crush let's say a bit Optimistic etc When it comes to The Disney Sequels and TV Shows! And I Agree with You! Disney/KK/JJA Had the opportunity to put the OG's All together in the 1st Film and Failed Miserably! It was the same As A New Hope But with a Planet as The Death Star n New Republic/Empire! I mean is THIS The Best they could come up with!? Lol Seriously No Outline of an Arc over 3 Films! What where the writers on? A Fuckin HUGE Disservice! And Luke lol I could go ON! But I'm gonna eat my dinner 🍽 Anyway Well Said Cheers Mate 🍻
Totally agree
Dave Filoni is the fixer. I think it has been the plan all along that the sequel trilogy was just painting the broad strokes to get a new generation into Star Wars. Now the master Dave Filoni can fill in the gaps and flesh out the stories of the characters of this era. And mark my words it going to blow your mind and it’s going to make the sequel trilogy seem awesome!
I hope you’re right. But I think he will end up redoing the sequels, but with the same characters. Just in a better way. And I don’t know how, but I heard this beautiful theory that the death of Ahsoka will be used to show what would happen. So the sequels happen if she dies in the duel with Vader. The new version of the sequels will be what happens if she lived . Kinda like that. Gives the sequel gang a new lease on life and better films and allows for legacy characters to say goodbye how Tony stark did in endgame. I want to be in the cinema auditorium cheering for the Avengers of Star Wars. This is what this franchise deserves 🎉
I don't think those movies are saveable, no matter what Filoni or Favrou are doing, there are too much cringe and pointless content in it. Part 7 is watchable for me though. The rest not.
Nah, the Sequel trilogy will always be trash. You can't polish a turd... Just as the Prequels will always be disappointing, despite having a good story, because Lucas botched the telling of it.
Filoni can be trusted to keep Star Wars on the right track, but he's no George Lucas, he's more like his Padawan. Also, the SWU is too large for him to be involved in each and every project. Instead, he will hopefully oversee the overall direction of the franchise to ensure there's a coherent vision going forwards. We'll have to wait and see. 🤞
@@nmg3282 I think the idea of using the "World between Worlds" as a way to reboot the future timeline is popular with disgruntled fans, but even if it could be used this way, the Sequels aren't going to be replaced as long as Kathleen Kennedy is in charge at Lucasfilm and she's just announced more films intended to progress Rey's story, which doesn't make sense if they're planning to reboot it...
Great video guys! 🙂👍🏾
I trust more Dave than John, John this season is more involved than Dave on s3 of Mandalorian. Dave and John were co writers on s.1 And s.2. Dave this season was busy working on Ahsoka
As I commented the celebration had very hearted fans who are very devoted even a few dressed up as Rey, so why criticize a franchise, they are so fand who are full of hate, they even said how they hate the mandalorian,
Filoni cowrote two episodes of the show. Favreau wrote twenty-four episodes, six without a co-writer at all.
Dave had little to Nadia this season, that’s true, he was filming Ahsoka
Thank you guys, for making me little less anxious and depressed 😊
I've been deep diving a lot of your Starwars videos and having been appreciating your breakdowns of things and enjoying the videos a lot. I just wanted to comment to throw this out there that it seems your videos are at a quieter volume than other videos on CZcams. I don't know how CZcams sets up there audio compression but I like to have your videos run while doing things around the house and (on my laptop speakers so not the best) I have a hard time hearing sometimes. But other videos I have a less of a hard time. So just throwing that out there as something to possibly try to see if you can level the audio higher and if that would help other listeners as well. Again love the content!
There is a new hope. There seems to be a balance now. Only time will tell. Nothing defeats the fact of the excitement for the countless Star Wars fans. Great talk here. When it comes to the new movies I'm really looking forward to Dawn of the Jedi! I love that idea and feel it will make for one interesting story that has to be told.

Great example of franchises not respecting their own neighbours was how the Director of Multiverse of Madness didn't bother watching Wandavision; even though Wanda was the main antagonist in his film.
That's why the story went out the window.
Multiverse of Madness was rubbish. It was such a crushingly disappointing sequel to the excellent Dr Strange. However, I think it had to be that bad to be consistent with the rest of Marvel's awful Phase 4.
00:15 that was funny, you forgot to insert the dog, finally, we know it's you!!!
There's no possible way for a Rey movie, set after the sequels, to fix the sequels. It isn't like the prequels, that needed blanks filled in, in between films.
I think it will “fix” them in the sense that this new movie will be a soft reboot that barely references the sequels beyond some familiar core characters. The time jump allows them to sort of create new characters out of these familiar names and faces; characters that are _actually_ proper characters. That’s what I’m hopeful for.
They really painted themselves into a corner. They literally have to spend multiple shows to try and set up the sequel films to be what they are, on top of the fact that they have to make the new Republic a bunch of bumbling baphoons like the people who took over Seattle for a month a few years ago.
On top of that, they are entrusting the Rey spinoff to a director that did two Ms. marvel episodes and a female empowerment documentary.
I’d have to survive a severe brain injury before I’d look back on the sequel trilogy fondly.

Because the Force is Female. It's Kathleen Kennedy who wants to bring her back and she's only interested in using the franchise to promote her own brand of militant feminism.
Daisy Ridley did her best to portray Rey, but her character is rubbish and her story is even worse. What a waste of potential. Just as it was so disappointing how Issac's Poe and Boyega's Finn were underused.
She’s a palpatine.

Filoni doesn't actually produce all of these shows, you know that right? He has the George Lucas Executive Producer credit, the one where he shows up on set and corrects the length of the head tails.
10:09 since the sequels were so lacking in a sensible core plot that wasnt seriously thought out, it will be very difficult to "fix" that era the way the clones wars did with the prequels. No amount of memes can fix the broken plot the sequels dumped on us imo
I get the sense that this new feature with Rey will be sort of a soft reboot. For a long time after the prequels, the events and many characters in those movies were never mentioned or referenced. I get the sense that this new movie will take the same approach and not really reference much of what occurred in the sequels. It will essentially just be like, “yeah, those things happened, but let’s talk about what _will_ happen, not what _has_ happened.”
I'm willing to bet that Disney are going to give it a damn good try.
Pure hubris. How are they going to convince Hasbro to make shelf warmers for a 4th time?
I agree, personally I loved the prequels but it wasn't until the clone wars before I truly understood them. I don't think we can go back and tell stories to make things cohesive.
it also hurts matters that no matter how much cool stuff we see in the New Republic Era (sounds so much better than "Mandoverse"!), we all already know the downer ending it's all going to. Personally, every cool thing I see from that time, lasts only as long as it takes for me to be reminded that, "Oh, right...it all ends in fire and ashes..." and my excitement dies away. I never bought into the desparate hope that they would decanonize the ST, but man, did I HOPE that was true! But nope, we just have to live with this massive black hole on the face of the franchise from now on...Hopefully, the next movies will be enough to carry it on to a better future at least.
Awesome video! Got me excited about the future of Star Wars
Hi Ryan. Love your channel! Is there any chance you could raise the volume on your interviews? It gets very quiet as soon as you start them

WE are doomed! I can't believe what KK says, but bring Rey back, no that ain't fixing nothing, all that does is split the base even more.

Star Wars under Disney has been a mixed bag, so it's unsurprising this has divided fans, who are legitimately unhappy with how beloved characters have been mishandled by clueless writers like Jar Jar Abrams and Ruin Johnson, who don't even understand the universe their stories are set in.
Thankfully, there's still talent like Filoni, Favreau and Gilroy at Lucasfilm. Hopefully, they'll attract like minded fans and creative artists who want to tell original stories set in the SWU.
Lmaooo I didn’t know you just make the dog voice as you’re going 😩😂😂
I am ecstatic!!! I love Star Wars and have been waiting for certain legends storylines to be adapted or atleast intertwined into the new modern narrative. I genuinely didn’t expect Disney to have faith in Dave filoni despite his obvious success and quality but man am I glad
The problem with the sequel trilogy was a lack of understanding of story arcs. This unknown period where Rey rebuilds the Jedi Order was what was supposed to happen with Luke. But instead of having a period of stability and building toward a climax by the third movie, Force Awakens started with a superweapon bigger and badder than any ever before, Luke's entire new jedi order having been killed off screen, and the almost complete destruction of the New Republic in one fell swoop. There was way too much death and destruction out of the gate. It's like dealing with all those plot details was too much of a burden for JJ, so he just killed all those things off so he could tell the story he wanted. It tried to escalate on the stakes of Episode 6 rather than being a slow build toward a new crisis that culminated in episode 9.
It's great that they learned that lesson and all, but it took an almost nonsensical progression of episodes rife with plot holes and contradicting narratives that actively undermined and disrespected the achievements of key characters in the universe to get there. They NEED to plan these movies on a longer time scale. You can't just show up on the day and freestyle it.
Believe it or not, Marvel is actually doing this well right now and its going over most people's heads. They saw Endgame and I guess expected 'Endgame 2' levels of a excitement as an immediate followup, but didn't realize that phase four is essentially phase one all over again. This is a building period where the threads between these characters are starting to intertwine and connect and will culminate in phase 6. These same people that are highly critical of the movies being 'boring' right now are gonna be the ones same ones screaming and clapping the loudest in the theaters during Secret Wars.
It's just basic knowledge of how to write stories and the sequel trilogy of Star Wars didn't do it right. I have a lot of respect for the Last Jedi because it was the only movie in that trilogy that was bold and tried to tell a new story, to narratively push things forward instead of digging in its heels and placating the audience with cameo appearances and retreading well worn ground. It wasn't perfect either and still could have used a bit more perfecting and tuning, but it tried to set the record straight that this trilogy wasn't about the things that came before, but the characters in the here and now, firmly establishing that this was a conflict between Kylo and Rey and I liked that they did that. It did the best that it could as the connecting thread between two episodes of 'all flash and no substance'.
But of course then we can snap cut from there to "Somehow Palpatine returned" and all that effort goes straight down the drain.
I can't believe they had a different person behind every film! Why would you not atleast have a simple layout of were the story is supposed to go? Crazy they hinted at Reys parents in force awakens but did not know what her lineage was yet?? That's crazy and just stupid way to write a Trilogy
@BK Beatty I know a lot of people blame Rian Johnson for Luke's position in the sequel trilogy, but what was he supposed to do? He was handed a story where Luke failed to establish a new Jedi Order and all his padawan learners were killed by Kylo Ren and he went into hiding to escape from it all. That wasn't Rian that did that, it was JJ.
All he did was take the pieces of that and move things along into telling a story that wasn't about Luke anymore and his successes or failures. It was about Rey's personal journey and her conflict with Ren as she was the one sort of destined to contend with him. Kylo Ren very clearly states this. "Let the past die." He doesn't want to think about it anymore, he only wants to deal with what's in front of him, and I think that was his attempt to sort of steer the narrative direction of the trilogy, a set of instructions that went unheeded with the ridiculous revival of Palpatine in the follow-up.
At least Rian Johnson tried to follow the story of Force Awakens and build off of it. (Even if you believe some of the things he built off were things you didn't agree with) Episode 9 is so bafflingly full of holes I literally cannot believe that they allowed it to release in the state it was in.
@@Father_Daniel It just demonstrated the lack of understanding they had for the fandom. For as much love as the Force Awakens gets, JJ literally handed off a smoking ruin of a universe and said 'you guys deal with it now' which is such a weird thing to do in the first part of a trilogy.
It was like a crazy game of Mad Lib where they just expected the next director to fill in blanks of all the hanging plot threads. I'd love to know for example what the original plan was for Snoke.
Both JJ and Johnson are guilty of crimes against Star Wars

I always loved the Old Republic. The time period could be more free with out worrying about the Skywalker sagas.
Daisey is one of the most talented actress in Star Wars. And she couldn't find a job after finishing the Sequel Trilogy.
The OT is filled with memorable stand out scenes with Luke. I'd be hard pressed to think of anything that stands out from the sequels featuring Rey. She's a wholly generic and bland character.
3:36 I went to see The Last Jedi because I really enjoyed Rogue One and I was curious what happened after Episode 7. I had emotional whiplash going from Rogue being my favorite Star Wars movie to The Last Jedi being the most divisive and my very least favorite of the franchise. I wish I could get my money back. I decided to skip out on watching Solo in the movie theater because of that movie.
I watched and liked Solo when it had it's home release. I liked the actor who played him too. Hope he'll come back in the Lando show.
No Cap, solo is probably my second favorite Disney star wars movie after Rogue One. TLJ and TROS retroactively made me not like TFA because the sets in TFA go nowhere.
Rogue One and Solo are the only good Disney Star Wars movies. 👍
I always thought someone else voiced Doug. Good to see Ryan's many talents 🙌
Dave Filoni’s Film will be so great it’ll have the same hype as an MCU film and what’s great about watching movies and shows prior is that they give connectivity and makes the films more worth it
Couldn't care less about the new Rey movie, but I'll give the other two a chance.
I’m optimistic that this new Rey movie will be sort of a soft reboot that doesn’t reference or acknowledge much of the events of the sequel trilogy beyond a few core characters. This will potentially allow them to fix a lot of the poor decisions they made with those sequels where we’ll basically get a brand new Rey; one that is a proper character.
@@eyespy3001 here's hoping. But maybe they should have waited an actual 15 years for this new movie. For now, the character is burned if they don't do some major reboot, like you say.

I think it may be a little tough for Star Wars fans who became fans with the OG trilogy to change their opinion of the sequels given what they did to Luke and the OG characters. I’m fine with getting new characters to get to know and love but retconning our original heroes of the movies to do that doesn’t work for me. I love Star Wars and still watch anything they put out. But I’ll never be a big fan of the sequels past episode 7.
Exactly! The prequels did not completely destroy some of the previous beloved characters. Now they're coming out with a Rey movie where she is starting the Jedi order and does it successfully instead of Luke. That's going to rub many many Star Wars fans the wrong way and rightfully so.
@BK Beatty I'm actually not bothered by that because Harrison Ford wanted to get killed off in Empire and Lucas wouldn't let him.
The comparison isn't with what they did with the characters but how the prequels and sequels were hated by the fandom. Despite all of that hate the prequels ended up being redeemed by the subsequent shows, films, games and books made about them and now people love them! The same can be done for the ST, despite the reasons for the hate being different. There were also a ton of people who hated the prequels 18 years ago who now love what they've spawned and can stomach them better, though still not like them, despite them not destroying previously est. characters like you said, which is beside the point.
@@FunnieApple the prequels at least had a cohesive story to work with though, even if it wasn’t executed that well. The sequels don’t even have a clean story told across three movies. The shows were able to flesh out a prequel story that was already there. What they’re doing now is justifying sloppy sequel choices with additional uneven story telling.
@@FunnieApple Honestly I have no idea why there was so much hate past maybe ep1. I can see why some people may not like TPM but AOTC is great, especially with Yoda and Dooku's duel and the start of the Clone Wars. The main highlights of the Prequel area were The Clone Wars, Revenge of the Sith(def my fav SW movie), and the Bad Batch.
The Doug ventriloquism was amazing!
Loved the guests this time and heartwarming to see their positivity -- please more of Colton and Dod! (And less of Mark, Heather and Paul whinging)
Rebels is some of the best Sw, if not the best SW out there, Ryan!! The exploration of the force itself is better than anything before or since.
I'm rewatching Rebels for like the 10th time after watching Celebration. It is even better as it ages -and is truly an underrated show. Every single main character is explored, and Kanan's journey is just fantastic-start to finish. 🤌
Rey is a no go for me. I'm not ripping the band aid off that wound.
After watching this it definitely got me thinking. I am now excited to see how the galaxy plays out in the Rey movie that’s coming. Basically we haven’t know the galaxy without the empire or the republic being present so it’s going to be interesting to see what happens. Will all the systems at this point be independent? Will it be like WW1 where in the Star Wars universe multiple systems start building up their own armies? At that point we’re really starting to dive into the Warhammer 40k type of thing where everyone is fighting to be top of the chain. A lot of interesting stuff. Also the prequel movie is going to be very exciting, maybe we can possibly move forward eventually to the Old Republic era.
11:48 up until the space Mary Poppins and the hyperspace cutting the ship I had never before said “yea right” while watching Star Wars.
That stuff took me out of the universe way more than deep fake Tarkin or whatever. It’s always been space fantasy, but that stuff cross a line.
Hi-five for that near perfect impression of Doug.
What about Andor?? That series gave me hope. Not into the animation series at all. I guess star wars is going to be fragmented more and more.
Nope. Quite the opposite.
I’m most excited about these announcements because how sustainable they are. Dave Filoni is not going anywhere, so even if the movie peters out, there’s room for a Netflix/Marvel Defenders team up on Disney+. Mangold has a relationship with Lucasfilm with Indy 5, so they’re less likely to just walk away from it, but even if they do, it’s not a false start for the saga because it’s a 25,000 year flashback, so there’s no hurry to tell the story. Rey restarting the Jedi is an interesting project because there’s so much flexibility. If it lumbers across the finish line, then it can be a one-off. If they really like it and it has legs, it can be Episode X!
Have you ever tried going to a Walmart or Target and asking if they have a set that has not been released yet (For example Mandoo Fang fighter vs Tie interceptor)
I’m always exited for new Star Wars. I haven’t loved everything put out but that’s OK. I see it all as one big experiment in storytelling. I’m really excited for Dawn of the Jedi!
I love this channel
3:20 such fkn gold
People talk about how crazy the CGI Luke and Leia look and I feel like I have to some level of face blindness because to me they look absolutely fine in short spurts. Lips are noticeably different, I suppose, but I just can't see the differences that well and I feel crazy for it lol.
I hope that movie tanks. Hard
Dave Filoni is the best thing that happened to Star Wars since George Lucas. I'm really looking forward to
Filoni's movie, and I'm glad he's getting rewarded for his amazing work.
I know some people look like their dogs but that was amazing you look and sound just like Doug LOL
i loved the space marry poppins scene!!!
Correction- SOME vfx artists are great. The fact the one man made that shot better in one month than a whole team could in a year was embarrassing. Cool for him though, because Lucasfilm hired him to make the much better Luke seen in The Book Of Boba Fett.
It was a flaw of the technique, not the individual people.
@@Progger11 but people used the technique.
Disney has crammed so much Star Wars down my throat in the last few years that I can't even pass gas without lightsaber noises escaping.
Please, no more...
There's too much...
No one forces you to watch, cupcake.
Don't watch any then
Where can I find that video of filoni talking with Jon favreau and others?
I think the uncertainty of the last few years was due to the uncertainty of how strongly theaters would rebound after the pandemic. The shift from theater entertainment to home entertainment was clearly that and little more.
Seeing to what degreee theaters have recovered, it seems logical to re incorporate movies into the bigger picture plan.
Love they way they're weaving everything together.
You guys are key to how they can change the way we view "prerequisite" viewing. I don't need to have seen Clone Wars/Rebels, because after watching each new TV episode (whateve series), I can watch videos on YT that fill in the relevant details and add more to the experience.
The service you provide, makes new material, more enjoyable by people who haven't made the investment of time to the tertiary story lines.
🤘🧙♂️🤘
Rich the Ancient Metal Beast
Easy to fix, Rey discovers a temple like the one on lothal then goes back in time aborts herself killing her grandfather before she is even conceived but does all this after assuring that the first order doesn't look like an army of Afflack commercials waddling their disgraced Donald duck uniforms across the galaxy by killing Kathleen Kennedy and the director of episode 8 who both are obvious double agents only working at Disney to hurt the franchise and kill most of our child hood in the interest of demoralizing the world. Anyways episode 7-9 undone give the keys to Sam,Dave, and John and just walk way getting rich off their fan service.
The very first Star Wars movie was considered by most people to be a one off. The studio did not think sequels were going to happen until it exploded into the public consciousness. Lucas used it as a showcase of what movie making could achieve technically and built a complete story to make that happen. A New Hope was in essence a really catchy jingle made to get people interested in the technology used to make the film and the merchandise that afforded Lucas the independence to create how he wanted. The jingle was very compelling and drew the crowds it intended but it was very contained. Ever since then Lucasfilm has been trying to turn the jingle into an ever growing symphony. That requires great finesse and cohesion to work, at least for the masses, but the overall attempt has been a bit maclunkey.
Wait... are you telling me Ryan is the voice of Doug!? MIND BLOWN!
I'm so excited for these three movies!
Grogu will most likely be part of rey's jedi order I would put money on that.
"A lot of people liked the movie" best line of this video😂
As a fan that watches the films and shows, reads the books and comics and plays the games, I could not be more excited about the Dawn of the Jedi movie! I hope to see my fav force-hound Xesh in the movie!
Ryan magically grows a beard halfway through! Doug also takes over his body briefly too
There are no "sides" to the force, there's how much you give into it. Like Yoda said, if you give in to the quick and easy path, that's the way to the dark side. The force is an eldrich horror; it uses force adepts as conduits. The deeper you go, the more you let it control your being, the worse it gets for you, until you're trapped in the dark side, holding yourself together with only rage, with no choice but to exist as a conduit for the dark side. The dark side isn't the reverse of a coin, it's the deep end of the ocean. The Jedi use discipline, meditation, talent and martial prowess so that they aren't tempted to rely on things like force lightning and death fields, which are the TRUE face of the force.
I've thought something similar. No other kind of "energy field" has "sides." It's how and why you use it that matters.
The Force is The Force. The battle of Light vs Dark is in you.
X Doubt. There’s a lot of weirdness going on over there. Been that way for years. Doesn’t matter what you think of the previous career of a certain creative… it’s painfully clear they were not cut out for this position they currently hold. It’s been chaos over and over. We keep getting told it’s other people’s problem. Maybe that was true one or even twice. But at this point one cannot kid themselves about where the fault lies any more. That one position MUST change so that any further movement can be made.
Okay James bond
@@abishaipaul2298 Uh…. Sure thing, Knight Rider?!?!?? Not even sure what we’re talking about.
Did you forget to insert Doug at the start? 🤣
In Filoni we trust 🙏🏽
I'm most hyped for the Dawn of the Jedi. I'm also surprisingly excited for the Rey trilogy with the 15-year time jump. That's a bold announcement. Let's just hope this plan works out better than before.
Love that Daisy Ridley is getting another shot, really upset that John Boyega probably wouldn't do another Star Wars if they begged him. He got a super raw deal in regards to how Finn was treated and I would have loved for them to do more with him.
100% agree. Cautiaously optimistic
Was anyone else’s favorite part when Ryan didn’t cut to Doug for the voice over?
Love how you use Doug, just teasing!
The prequels were bad in aspects of quality, but the narrative was solid… the sequals were good in aspects of quality but the narrative is outright broken… it’s extremely difficult to move forward on the basis of a broken story as opposed to moving “away” from it…
They would probably best served to barely refer to 7, 8 and 9 in the newest film but instead, I can see them spending half the run time trying to explain it. The thing is, there is literally nothing they can do to explain 9, so don't bother. We all accept that it happened and want to move on, so just give us a cool story that starts with Episode 10 and is engaging.
Technically it’s not a era post Palpatine since she’s….you know…. a Palpatine.
Honestly she’s one of the most controversial characters as well, so we’ll have to see.
that's a cool point! certainly a point of struggle for Rey. that information becoming public could be similar to what Leia faced when the universe found out she was Vader's daughter
Rey's father was apparently a strand cast and her mothers heritage was never mentioned. I think if anything they need to clear that part up . She could invent a new name or try to discover who her mother actually was. It's probably just as spiteful to call her Palpatine as it is to call her skywalker. She is Rey strand ,I guess ,or Rey Searcher ....
@@KYWAN_MURPHY_O.G.N.C. in my opinion they should’ve made Rey a Kenobi or they shouldn’t of killed off Ben.
I'm literally putting in the foot work to watch and learn all things starwars.
"where the fuck is Ben!!" Lol
Them bringing back Rey feels like they are poking a hornets nest that they should be leaving alone but we shall see how it goes.
Dog voice!!!! You ate Doug! 0:16
Great as always but you forgot to cut to the dog when you did the voice.
