    I’m glad to see competition in the 1/24 crawler market, I own an SCX24 and love it! I put a light smear of bad horsey diff locking grease in my dampers and settled it way out. Definitely want to use it sparingly so as not to kill the rebound. 🤙🏼

    Rgt bowler. 120$ on eBay. Best crawler you can get for the money if you want full-size. Completely my opinion but it keeps up very well with my trx4 for a fraction of the cost. I think you could do a good job of shedding light to it

      The HobbyPlus CR-18 are great! I have the "Convoy" pick-up and the "Rushmore" scout. Wider versions of the same CR-24 axle, same transmission with a slower motor with more torque, better plastics for the links and drive shafts with metal universals.

  • @johnroddy931

  • @Spoo76
    @Spoo76 Před 4 lety

    If you want these to have more torque and crawl slower upgrade the 54t spur gear to a 64t Spur gear from a ECX Barrage/RGT Adventurer/FTX Outback 1.0 along with a 9t .3 mod pinion from a Losi Micro.
    Swap the motor for the 88turn in the HobbyPlus upgrade kit or the high turn RC4WD 1/18 motor (comes with metal pinion) and it gets even better.
    These mods work on all version of the HobbyPlus CR-24 and the versions sold as the FTX Outback 2.0 as well as the HobbyPlus CR-18, though it already has the upgraded motor

    also called a ftx outback mini 2.0 in uk/amewi AMX24 in germany/hobby plus cr-24 or d1rc or uruav24 in asia. you can get an upgrade kit for the electric stuff as pointed out. also do ali shox,and metal driveshafts. [1 guy as installed the mil weights to the wheels] there is a mod you can do to stop the dog-bones popping out. the bumpers fit so much better on the other bodies[land-rover/jeep] it is fully waterproof as well. there are future updates planned for it as well? for a few bucks more u can get a 2nd 600 1s. comparing this to the axial scx24 is hard. the scx24 is a rock crawler,with larger-tyres/chassis/wb. where this is more of a scale/trail crawler. this and the scx24 are great value for money. also there are no lhs in europe that stock the scx24[need to import from usa] thanks for the review!

    I think 1/24 scale could be epic fun if a manufacturer could put together a chassis and electronics with a low enough profile to use 1/24 model hardbodies with their interiors and engine bays. I’ve seen a few running modified model bodies without interiors. Could be a fantastic option for scalers.

    Just thinking about it, if you guys are looking for crawlers under $200 RTR that don't totally suck...Look into the brands RGT, REMO (Actually has some nice stuff that would challenge Axial etc), VRX etc. They are not 1st rate machines but an RGT Rock Cruiser for $169 RTR really is not bad as a starter. Of course you have the Redcat Gen7 Sport now and their offshoot Danchee. Happy hunting!

    The first time running it it came apart; the dog bones came out of the front wheel hub

    • @JRNagle
      @JRNagle Před 4 lety

      That's just because the wheel hub is held by a screw that they didn't tighten enough from factory. I just slipped mine back in and retightened it, maybe with some Loctite would be good. Hope this helps

    • @Spoo76
      @Spoo76 Před 4 lety

      Yes the wheels and tires are smaller than 1.0" wheels commonly used. But the bead lock wheels will fit the tires from the RGT/Adventurer FTX Outback. The wheel hex is the standard 7mm and will work with typical 1.0 wheels from Gear Head and RC4WD

  • @jeff2633
    @jeff2633 Před 4 lety

    The Rgt Defender or Adventurer with the esc from the Axial SCX24 and a MG90S servo is pretty decent. The SCX24 will still crawl better in my opinion though. But I do have mine set up with rear steer and other mods so not a stock comparison.

    No no no...as good as this looks, I have two 1/24th Rocksta's from Basher, HobbyKing's brand. MOA, 4 wheel steering, cage style body with stainless steel body panels etc. $70 RTR aside for battery. The early models used plastic gears in the trans and had issues. That was updated to metal gears shortly after it's release...so if you hear about transmission issues, that's been dead for years.

    • @JViello
      @JViello Před 4 lety

      @@scarce331 Weelllll, there is no mention of it having to be "scale" in the video. In fact, I believe he reference several TVP style trucks. If this was the Scale Builders Guild channel I would agree with you. But it's not. They are/were talking mini/micro crawlers that are good. In that light the Rocksta is hard to beat. It would climb circles around this CR-24 for about $20 less. Yes, if someone wants "scale" they should go for the CR-24. But if they want capability for the best price, the Rocksta is the vehicle to go to IMO.
      I didn't say it was the best outright (Although it might be or be close.). I'm saying it's the best $70 micro crawler you will find.

      Slightly smaller than 1.0" and doesn't work with RC4WD tires. It won't lock onto the bead. These bead locks are the same size as the 1/24 ECX Barrage/RGT Adventurer/FTX Outback.
      However it does use a standard 7mm hex so you can swap the whole wheel and tire
