      Apparently If you say realistic things even when it is critical like Piers does, you are not a true Gooner and you get hated for being true. Apparently you need to be a good fan, shut up and blindly follow Wenger and don't question anything even when he does things badly. Now it seems Wenger is doing something in the transfer market and seems to realise to compete you have to spend.

    Piers is right. I'm not an Arsenal fan but the whole stadium excuse seems to me like a convenient myth. Wengers Arsenal lacked ambition, and the ambitious players realised that and left. Wenger showed too much respect towards his players feelings and granted them wishes. Are you telling me you couldn't have kept Van Persie and financed the stadium over a few more years? I understand that you'll get hit with more interest but not enough to approve of losing a player that could've helped you win titles (prize money) and more global exposure (fan money).

    • @66kaisersoza
      @66kaisersoza Před 9 lety

      Exactly! When you sell you're top players it sends a message to the other players at the club, if those players have an ounce of ambition in them it will only have a negative effect.

    • @majade13
      @majade13 Před 9 lety +1

      GainsbourgSerge
      I'm sorry but I hear the same unbalanced view from Arsenal fans. OK, I understand the stadium ideology, but Arsenal arent the only team to have built a new stadium. A team the size of Arsenal can/should be able to refinance accounting for 20m instead of selling marquee players.
      Van Persie owed Arsenal nothing. He decided to leave cos Arsene kept on selling all his players, what message does that send to Robin? How many years of struggle should he stay loyal for, at his age he wanted something to show for it,

    • @majade13
      @majade13 Před 9 lety

      GainsbourgSerge
      A club the size of Arsenal can refinance their stadium over one more year or more to cover the need to recoup a measley 20m in player funds.
      If it wasn't for Arsene RVP would of been at Vitesse? Nonsense. Its the natural hierachy of football. Left for a better team at the time. Just as Ramsey, Cazorla, Giroud did to join Arsenal. Where was Walcotts/Ox's repayment of belief shown by Soton? You complain about RVP yet Arsenal openly welcome back a player who left for nothing at his peak yet now still gets backing in Flamini.

    • @majade13
      @majade13 Před 9 lety

      GainsbourgSerge
      Hey, lets not pretend like Arsene didn't have a reason to keep RVP. Where was this faith in Fran Merida, jeffers, reyes etc.
      And judging by the value of new endorsements and TV right deals, the premier league didn't suffer from recession. Refinancing the stadium over a few more years would barely have made a ripple at a club the size of Arsenals.

      66kaisersoza Does that change his value as a player?

    • @mandatory055
      @mandatory055 Před 9 lety +3

      ***** Well yes, as buying a player from another club is effectively like buying the remainder of his contract out, and adding on the clubs valuation of the player onto that. Look at Toni Kroos, he would have been invaluable to Bayern Munich, but he was unwilling to re-sign a new contract, and only had one year left, so he was "worth less" to sell as you cannot convince Real Madrid to pay more than 40 million pounds to sign a player with one year left on his contract. Also Persie was an injury prone 29 year old, who wanted either a huge money contract after only one decent injury free season, or a move to a more illustrious, and recently more successful club.

    • @Slow-wipe
      @Slow-wipe Před 9 lety +1

      ***** Of course it does. It doesn't change his quality as a player, but of course it changes the value we can sell it for, as with any player on the market.

      @jamess6787 Před 9 lety +1

And when you've got bold opinions...when you get it wrong you look very stupid. most of the time i don't agree with him...but i think he poses valid arguments based on what he sees. and for that i respect him. Having said that, i've never doubted arsene wenger...he has made a few mistakes since 2004 but he has over the past 10 years got us to this position we're in now, and we're on course to do very good things with this club.

    Most fans of small clubs (like Tottenham) would kill their grandmas to earn a CL spot every season. Wenger's problem is, paradoxically enough, that he had so much success early in his Arsenal career, and he hasn't managed to recreate that era, yet anyway.
    I think Piers Morgan and many like him, who have been criticizing Wenger every chance they've got the last four of five years, are ignorant to the fact that we just haven't been able to compete with the soulless money clubs.
    I honestly think that has changed now, we're contenders again!

    Arsenal selling RVP to Man Utd is a disgrace and something that Man Utd fans make a joke out of. Could Wenger embarrass us anymore than he did. It made us look like an official feeder club, this was our captain for heaven's sake. I've still not forgiven Wenger for this, he didn't learn from Adebayor, he ended up selling Clichy and Nasri to Man City, without reinvesting the money. It is just completely unacceptable, but I will move on if he signs some more world class players this summer.

Hes putting the clubs long term success before his time here. Instead of signing players for a crazy amount of money so he'll win trophies and be a well achieved manager he's thinking of the big picture . Obviously Twitter is just an online social networking site for a bit of hype and banter, but he's talking a lot of facts here especially the transition from invincibles to emulating Barca in which Wenger failed so terribly with which I have been ranting on about for years. And the RVP case I completely agree with him 100%! In fact you could probably argue that the title we gave to Fergie as his retirement present is most likely the main reason why United will now catapult back to competing, because of this biggest sponsorship kit deal in the history of the EPL, whilst using the Moyes season as a slip.

    When he left, Arsenal seemed in a steep decline. The team was in an extended trophy drought and was struggling to finish fourth each season in order to keep their Champions League streak alive. Their best players, including Cesc Fabregas, were leaving the team and no big-money players were being bought to replace them.RVP only had one year to go on his contract, and wanted to leave. They sold him much too cheaply, especially given the jump in transfer fees that was about to take place, and they shouldn't have sold him to Manchester United, despite what he wanted. That handed ManU last year's Premier League title on a silver platter.If they had gone to Van Persie and said they were willing to spend, which they did a year later with the signing of Mesut Ozil, he might have very well stayed. With RVP in the lineup instead of Olivier Giroud, Arsenal would have been a strong contender for the 2011-12 title, and would be favorites for the 2012-13 title.

      A strong contender for the 2011-12 title? Err Van Persie was at Arsenal then, he was amazing, he scored 37 goals that season (was top scorer in the league with 30) and we still finished 19 points behind Man City and Man Utd. Also in the two summer transfer windows before RVP left (June 2011- August 2012), we spent 98 mil on players, so it's a complete myth that Arsenal weren't spending money. You need to do some research.

    To be fair to Piers Morgan he doesn't talk utter crap you can understand why fans wanted Wenger out and so could I even know I've never wanted him out.

  • @SquareHeadify
    @SquareHeadify Před 9 lety

    Piers is spot on with the claim that finishing below 1st is a failure. Years and years of 4th is not good enough and it obviously shows the lack of ambition within the club.

  • @84Static
    @84Static Před 9 lety

    Mr, Morgan Van Persie wanted to go himself "JUDAS" wenger never intended to sell him he was the one giving statements questioning Arsenal's ambitions.
