    I've spent most of this year helping design and test these rods - and for me, they really are the rods I've always wished I had. Even before BFS - I always wanted to fish with amazing rods. It used to be I couldn't;t afford good gear, and then most of my life it's just been the hunt to find exactly what I wanted.
    These are everything I've ever wanted in a rod, and I believe they might be the best BFS rods int he world.

    Love the collaboration! Have 7 Kistler rods now including 2 Nitraniums and 2 Heliums. Just ordered the 3x 7'0. My first "BFS" setup was a JDM 2016 Scorpion 71 and a Kistler Magnesium 2 and I still have it. I have been using a Gekkabijin and a Kistler Light 'n Fast since it came out as well. I have 5 of the Kistler chromium reels now and bought some of the BFS whiffle spools to use on the BFS setups with the Gekkabijin.

      Very cool! The Light-N-fast uses the same blank as the original 2X BFS prototype. It's a great blank. We just went with a more moderate action on the BFS line per my preferences. mazing company overall - I'm thrilled to be assoicated with them.

    I just broke a BFS rod this weekend and in my search for a new one, I found this video. So order placed. I hope it's as good as it appears. My preference for a BFS rod is a multi-taper, fast tip, moderate middle and stiff at the handle. Based on what I saw, the 3x fits the bill. Thanks for the content.

So the opportunity to help create a line of BFS rods from Kistler has truly been amazing. But I spent nearly 50 years fishing with everything from cane poles to Zebco 33's that had been fished so much the fiberglass was split, to Shimano, Daiwa, Eagle Claw and ugly sticks. Enjoyed pretty much all of it. But these have taken the experience up another level - or two.

    I'm big on multipurpose rods, so you can definitely do treblehook and single hook (ned, micro jigs, ect) on these rods? The less I gotta carry in the truck the better, lol. Thinking of grabbing one of each to cover the whole range of BFS baits.

      I have sucessfully fished everything on them so far - from trout spinners to jigs, swimbaits to cranks, ned rigs to buzz baits and whopper ploppers. They don't do the things BFS doesn't do well - Punch rigs and frogs in heavy cover, for example. They're awesome, but they're not magic. :P

    • @AaronHuntFishing
      @AaronHuntFishing  Před 6 měsíci

      So far my three favorite reels on them are the ones that match the rod performance: the Alderbaran, the CQ BFS, and the Gekkabijin. And the Gekkabijin looks better than i thought it would. I was afraid that red and black would clash with the green rod accents, but it's been fine. If you care about looks. ;P
      I also used the Gekka to throw 0.75 gram flies while trout fishing on the Hunt BFS- it was a tough day and I think the largest fish came on that fly. Maybe that video will come out in January.
      We're also still working on a Kistler BFS reel, but release date is currently unknown.

    One thing you can do ( that some high end manufacturers do) is to use CCS measurements to find intrinsic power and angle of action. Mostly done with fly blanks but is getting over to gear blanks as well. That way we as consumers, have objective data points to use in comparing other rods. Power and action and marketing lingo are company specific and most of the time (if you were take actual measurements), actions and powers aren't even consistent between various product lines within the same company.

    • @AaronHuntFishing

    Hey Aaron, I’m a Ned Rig fanatic. I fish the Susquehanna and finger lakes regularly. BIG Smallmouth are my weakness. I’m wanting a dedicated BFS Rod just for Ned Rigs. Which rod in the new line would you recommend? I’ve found that if a BFS rod is too soft in moving water, a good hook set can not always be achieved.

    • @AaronHuntFishing
      @AaronHuntFishing  Před 10 měsíci

      Always is a pretty absolute term. I have yet to meet an angler who can always get a good hookset. That being said, these rods are softer than many on the market. I'd go with the (3X) 7 foot model for more leverage and ability to fight those larger smallies. Those light wire ned-rig hooks usually don't require a huge hookset in my experience - but you're the Ned-fanatic. :P
      I also hate the feeling of laying into a fish on a mega-hookset ( i used to say "I jerked the Gherkins out of em!") and the line just snapping. Another perk of a slightly softer and longer rod. I've only had that happen on a large Pike so far. And I'm still hunting my first pike...

    • @donaldjudy9887
      @donaldjudy9887 Před 10 měsíci +1

      Funny you say that. Several weeks ago I was playing around with a new BFS setup I bought, just stopped after work to see how it threw a 1/16oz Ned. And wouldn’t you know it, first fish I tie into is a 38” Musky! It took 20min but I did manage to land it. Softness and drag, saved the day!

    • @AaronHuntFishing
      @AaronHuntFishing  Před 10 měsíci
