  • Hey fellow BFS Addicts! Join me on an exciting winter adventure as I dive into BFS Trout Fishing.
    In this video, I share my strategy for planning fishing trips based on weather forecasts, emphasizing the importance of milder temperatures. I discuss my go-to lures, including Smith bottom knock swimmers, Dynamic Lure's HD trout, and Smith ARS Spinners.
    Facing challenges like frozen shorelines and icy waters, I show how I adapt my techniques, exploring options like float rigs with mule jigs and soft plastics. The highlight of the trip? Landing two beautiful trout despite the tough conditions.
    Throughout the video, I rely on my trusty Kistler Hunt BFS Rods, designed for precision in bait finesse situations. These rods offer the perfect balance for light baits and finesse presentations, enhancing the overall fishing experience.
    And hey, speaking of Kistler Hunt BFS Rods, if you're interested in elevating your BFS Trout Fishing game, check out these fantastic rods:

    I didn't see any "failures". What I saw was someone lucky enough to be out enjoying mother nature while the rest of the world is chained to the grind stone. As Charlie once said, "WINNER"!

    That kistler hunt rod is very neat titanium guides, progressive blank system, its a great concept and am happy to see the jdm market trickling over. 350$ is just so much for it 😞 if it goes on sale let us know!!! (Or if marketing changes and we get the jdm style gear with the jdm pricetag)

      There have been a few sales, but still kind of hard to keep in stock. Hand made in USA. But I get it - which is why I cover other priced products too. The Kistler rods are the best rods I've ever fished. Helium or Hunt.

      @AaronHuntFishing ah I see, the made in U.S.A will do it! Manufacturing regulations and wages definitely will boost the cost compared to building the rod in vietnam or china.

      @AaronHuntFishing I see, use them in still water, I saw you had a few tearos, those are solid, use them at that one place you went to a few weeks ago with still water creek stocked trout! That's what they are built for, don't twitch them or jerk them, they are designed to get bites only on a steady retrieve.
      They work, and where designed for super thin line and spinning reels
      (P.s your t grovel is a bottom style lure!)

    • @AaronHuntFishing
      @AaronHuntFishing  Pƙed 7 měsĂci

      I find that the farther away from the rod tip my lure is, the less accurate the casting. I’ll probably pull out a spinning setup for some crappie float fishing at some point.

    @arnemueller2112 Pƙed 7 měsĂci +1

    Great scenery! Hard work payed off 👍 I noticed, that at the beginning of the season in the small stream I fish, trout respond by far better to something with a metal blade (tiny jig spinner, tin inline spinner and so on). Small wobbler get them when the water temps are higher (summer to fall). Seems that your experience is a bit different

    • @AaronHuntFishing
      @AaronHuntFishing  Pƙed 7 měsĂci +1

      It might depend on the natural forage. I know there are a lot of minnows in this stream. I have other streams where the HD trout doesn't produce for me. The inline spinner almost always gets at least one though. Except in the larger rivers. I often have days where a spinner won't even get bit - gotta be minnow or bug patterns on them. Even my Helgrammite/ned rig catches trout in some of those spots.

    • @arnemueller2112
      @arnemueller2112 Pƙed 7 měsĂci +1

      @@AaronHuntFishing yes, you‘re right, I would totally agree. What‘s confusing me is, that in my understanding a jig spinner or an inline spinner mimics a small bait fish as well as obviously a wobbler does. Why do my trout prefer so significantly one type over the other at different times?

    • @AaronHuntFishing
      @AaronHuntFishing  Pƙed 7 měsĂci +1

      @@arnemueller2112 That's the beauty of fishing. Unlike a sport like gold where you control most fo the outcomes, we are battling a living creature. FLy fisherman always say "match the hatch", and there's probably something else that is the trout's preferred food source at each time different lures are working for you. It could also be your presentation at various times of year too. So many factors. Smallmouth are similar - what works on one water won't catch a fish the same day on a different body of water 20 minutes away for me.

    Eyeing the 6ft 4x for my upgraded shimano Slx bfs with roro spool and bearing or Acura hicc50 can’t afford 350 tho

    • @AaronHuntFishing
      @AaronHuntFishing  Pƙed 6 měsĂci

      The SLX would probably be better on the 3x or 2x. The 4X rod maxed out at around 6 grams, so the SLX would limit you to a very narropw band of weights and not take advantage of the rod's low-weight capabilities. Acura would work just fine.
      Keep an eye out for sales. When they happen, I post them in the communitytab. there was a nice one at Christmas...
      Kistler is a sponsor at the Bassmaster Classic this year, so maybe in March? Between that and Easter, could be a special. But I have no inside info. So maybe not.

    this my first year fishing in the colorado winter. i learned the fast way to not go out unless its over 32 degrees. gear failure is real under that.
    side note: does the hd trout suspend or sink? i cant find no info on it.

    • @AaronHuntFishing
      @AaronHuntFishing  Pƙed 7 měsĂci

      Because I fish it mainline in fairly swift water, it acts like a suspending, but it's truly a slow sinking. I should check it out in the lake one day, but it seems to be VERY slow sinking - but for wahetever reason I really only throw it in moving water. Probably beacuse I rarely trout fish in lakes...
      The water in this creek is typically is shallow enough that sinking lures like the Duo Ryuki frequently hang, but this doesn't. While it didn't produce on this trip, it has pulled some beautiful fish out of skinny riffles for me - as well as deeper pockets.
      And I don't think i went back to it at the one hole that did produce. Another fail...

      @@AaronHuntFishing i noticed quite a few people use the hd trout in my local rivers. its gotta be a good bait. and im sure it would slay multiple species in lakes or even saltwater bays.
