  • SIMPLE WAFTER RIG For Catching MORE Carp! How To Tie A Wafter Rig - Mainline Baits Carp Fishing TV
    Fishing wafters and tying up effective rigs for these hookbaits may seem tricky or complicated, but it really doesn't need to be difficult. As we demonstrate here it couldn't be easier with the use of our Balanced Wafter hookbaits, which are easy counter-balanced by the weight of your hook - all you really need to do is tie a simple rig that will flip, react quickly when mouthed by carp and catch you more fish!

    Absolteuly Fantastic Video! Easily one of the best Rig Making Channels on You Tube! I would also just like to see how the rig is attached. This is where many have problems as it is the most over looked part, i know when i was a beginner, This was always the biggest question mark, ive swivels, clip on type swivels (never use again as i have had fish somehow pull rig from swivel) and now i find the simple loop to loop to be the most all round friendly wa yof attaching rigs, but im still learning. Thank you for these great videos, keep up the good work.

    Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit czcams.com/users/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.

    After 40 years of river and canals...I've succumbed to lakes ( done very many in Denmark, Ireland...they do not have carp in them tho') anyway.....some success but still not old or wise enough to take some info on board. For many a year there has been a bit of a pff....peh... meh attitude between match and carp anglers...I was one of them. What strikes me though is the remarkable similiarity to which despite the difference in hook, line, bait size......it is the same thing...us match guys fish with finer detail... but at the same time...the carp guys who you have just shewn..are doing exactly the same but just at a slightly bigger level. All these years of me thinking you just turned up at my local river, made a noise, threw bag fulls of boilies in, fiddle about for 30 mins mucking about with an alarm then sat about playing music from a phone... or with shazza wanting to know where her 'bae' is...has had me all wrong!

      Hi, yes all the components used are from Korda, reason being these are the bits I use and the bits that came straight from my tackle bag used for my own fishing - these are the items I'm using and so the ones I have confidence in demonstrated to anyone wishing to tie this rig. Personally I don't think it'd be fair to be using tackle in any type of video that I'm not actually using myself on the bank. Of course many other company make end tackle such as coated braids, putty or anti tangle sleeves for example and so anyone can use these components from another brand that them may already be using and confident with - its one of the nice things about this rig, the components are very general and not exclusive to any one tackle brand. I hope this adds some transparency to my personal choice of items, and I hope you still managed to enjoy the video. Thanks for your comment!

  • @millwallfan06
    @millwallfan06 Před 3 lety +1

    Hi mate, might sound like a beginner question but where you position putty does that determine how high up the hook bait sits from the lake bed? My friend used a basic Knotless knot rig the other day but didn’t use any putty or split shot and caught a beautiful 24 pound carp, just wondering him doing this did it sit up the whole length of the rig I.e sitting a lot higher than a normal pop up rig? If you could get back to me that would be great thank you

    • @MainlineBaitsCarpFishingTV
      @MainlineBaitsCarpFishingTV  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi, the putty is there on this particular rig to add a little weight and resistance just in front of the hook down the hooklink. This means that when the wafter hookbait is sucked up by the carp the hook will turn a bit quicker to a good hooking position with the hook point aiming down toward the bottom lip of the carp. As I've said this rig uses a wafting hookbait designed to slowly sink to the lakebed by the counter balance weight of the hook - pop-ups on the other hand are far more buoyant and will need to addition of putty or a split shot to sink them, counter balance their buoyancy and so set the height they sit off the bottom. Hope this helps and good luck!

    • @MainlineBaitsCarpFishingTV
      @MainlineBaitsCarpFishingTV  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Darrell, sometimes wafters will contain a little air from the rolling process that can effect buoyancy - giving the hookbait a squeeze can expel the air, I'd also advice trimming a little. A size six Kurve plus kicker and the putty should be very close if not perfect for these hookbaits.

      I'm numb to it now and I'm pleased to say that the guilt no longer bothers me, however I do sneak new purchases in the house and stuff it in with the pile of gear before she sees, it's hard enough working out the use for all the stuff myself without having to explain how it works to my Mrs. I mostly get blank looks, questions and finally the crushing judgement that it's a waste of money after I fail to convince her.
      Also, that's why these videos are good because they do break down everything you need to buy, it's a minefield out there for new guys, my mate has bundles of stuff that I never see him using. Considering the biggest fish I've ever seen was caught with just paste molded round a hook and dropped down the side of the lake wall it's best not to let things get out of control in terms of tackle, even if you've got the dough it can become too complicated.

      It can really difficult to keep the marginal differences to a minimum with 'semi' buoyant baits as some with dry out (over time) and become more buoyant etc. we will be putting a video together soon with tips on adjusting and tweaking the balance of wafter rigs to overcome these issues.

    Shame its all Korda tackle-overcharged and unnecessary!!! So much more on the market,which does exactly the same,at half the price.

      Yes James, no reason why anyone can't use another brand - we just simply used what came from our tackle bag.

      Shame its Korda though,everything seems to be korda !! When there is so much more to use and so much cheaper.They have made a name for themselves now,right across the board as "expensive tackle" and they will loose alot of trade because of it.....

      @@JAY.POT.502 We live in good times though - lots of brands, lots of tackle and loads of choice.

      Yes,but korda think they are the best and continue to promote their products and try and monopolise advertising in the fishing arena.But its transparent,because people can see through what they are doing and wont buy into it.They also use sponsors to do the same and its done to the extent that people aren't interested,except for those who don't care or are brainwashed or have loads of money and continue to line their pockets.
      But its unfair on kids who don't have money and think they need this stuff,as korda continue to push their products and are only interested in MONEY ! Shame......

      Korda N-TRAP which you advertise,by using £12-£13 a throw-absolute joke.
      So many other hooklinks you can use,combilinks ect,which won't cost nearly as much as that stuff........
