Peckys Big Carp Buzz - Combi-Rig Slip D (As seen on Bluebell)

  • The Big Carp Buzz series is designed to inspire you to go fishing! It's non technical and non instructional but, there are always people asking in the comment section for details about what Darrell is using.
    Both the Slip D and Combi rig are very popular to use but overtime, Darrell has managed to construct a single rig that reaps the benefits of both. Bringing the quick hook change property to the rig also makes this one of his personal favourites!

    I use this rig with a size 6 wide gape X, 15lb IQ2, 50lb braid (just what I’ve got in my tackle bag) and a brown medium kicker. I tie the braid way shorter, this is so I can use a popup, wafter or bottom bait, and the popup sits just off the deck similar to a ronnie rig. Also I add putty around the knot instead to help the hook turn into the bottom lip. Landed my secon biggest carp on this a few weeks ago at 21lb 9oz on a 14mm popup. Not a monster I know but to me it’s a massive achievement. And that’s how I fish this rig

      If a rig catches small carp, its good to go for the biggest carp in the lake. There is no "big carp" rig lol You got a couple of thirties and 1 40 last year tops on it because they happen to pick it up first, not because only big carp will lol

    I've made this rig and found a problem, when I pull, the hook loop goes all the way to shrink tube and further bcs there is no knot. The tube can't hold the braid. In this case I need to change the whole rig after every fish?

    Nothing wrong with a soft braided rig falling straight down on top of the lead... in fact I've always had my best hookholds (1"+ back, plum centre) with that, compared to all sorts of weird and weak hookholds with stiff rigs that push away from the lead. But I'm sure Darrell knows that already really ; )

  • @alexfox5834
    @alexfox5834 Před rokem

    I really like this rig but only down side is you have to shrink the tubing down with a kettle so it isn’t really that quick to change hooks, hopefully Korda bring out a kicker that is the same shape and length as the shrink tube in this video

    Another rig to add to the already existing thousands. Again unnecessary. A simple knot less knot to a curve shank hook will do me just fine as it has done for the last 10 years. Plus I don’t need £40 worth of end tackle to tie it like you do with this rig 😉

      The argument is that it’s totally reusable so you would ONLY need to spend 40 bucks once I’m not saying your wrong but most hook links are 10 bucks a pop. if you change your hooks as often as he appears to (and no normal angler does) you would soon be out of pocket… for me the quick change goes out of the window with all that steaming…if you’re putting the kettle on I’ll have a cup of tea !!!
