Really enjoyed the video! getting back into the carp fishing again myself had a 15 year break for

Yep a good rig David.
Would love more of these 'how to' videos, i need a video on how to set a chod rig with using tungsten tubing
We'll try and get that on the list!
Hi John another very informative video. I'll try them this weekend 👌
Do mainline still make liver and marine base mix and the Grange boilies 👍
Sorry Wayne both of those baits/products have been discontinued.

Afternoon John and the team... Fishing for me Monday 48hr session at the local lake....
Good luck Jay!
Good video followed and liked 👍🏻
Thank you 👍
Even though I have my personal preferences when it comes to rigs, I find your rig videos very interesting. Keep them coming!
PS: One suggestion if I may: there is an easier and much faster way to tie the "figure of 8 knot". Instead of going around with your "end loop", twist the other one 180 degrees.
Thanks Marcin, yep thats a good way at tying a figure of eight - I've just always done it this way and now thats what comes natural to me. Glad you're enjoying the videos!
Excellent ,thanks
Glad you liked it!
Fantastic ill give this a go as jist made it while watching
Nice - glad you found it good to follow Peter!
@@MainlineBaitsCarpFishingTV yeah brilliant thanks and it worked a treat got a nice 15lb common in the net so mega happy with them rigs
@@peterhulse7742 Nice - well done Peter!
Well described 🎣👍👍
Thanks 👍
The coated braid is a bit stiff and limits the hook movement into the fish mouth, i belive it would be a great ideea to remove the coating to the point that it meets the tungsten sincker so the hook can move more freely.
I created this rig today, same 25 lb coated braid and noticed how stiff that was and made me change my mind about keeping that coat next to the hook
My top rig
THANK YOU
👏👏👏👏👍👍👍 brilliant
Thank you! Cheers!
Great video, extremely useful for a new, young angler like myself!
Glad it was helpful!
@@MainlineBaitsCarpFishingTV Are you planning any new bait focuses? And any new flavour's of bait coming soon? I'd love to see a Pear flavour.
@@Jammy98 Yep I think will be cover some more baits that way this year - we have a Pear and Banana Response Flavour that is awesome in custom pop-ups.
@@MainlineBaitsCarpFishingTV I think i'll have to go get some :)
Awesome video
Glad you enjoyed it
Very clear.
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent
Thank you! Cheers!
Watched several of these videos now as I. Fairly new to carp and barbel fishing thanks allvery helpful
I would like to see a “how to “ on a loop & loop with tail for lead and spomb etc as shown on weed fishing video of yours
Thanks Andy!
German rig is my go to bottom bait rig, my preference is a beak point hook and a 30lb dark matter braid, pva on the hook to assist separation on the cast 👌
Nice!
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it!
very good
Good vid 👍
Thanks Ashley!
Top rig been using it along time, checkout the German turbo rig... it’s definitely upped my catch rate this winter.
Thanks for the tip!
I just started carp fishing and absolutely loving these videos! Got one question though: where/how do you store your rigs? I would love to prepare tons of these before going on a trip, but don’t have a proper way to store them.
Thats great news! Glad you're enjoying the videos! Okay there are lot of rigs boards out there, but the one I use and recommend is the Korda Rig Safe.
Another fantastic video very informative . Never seen this rig before but gonna make some up to give it a go
I want to order some mainline clothing am i too late to get it before christmas 👍🏻👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed the video! The last clothing orders go out this Wednesday, so if you order Monday you should be okay.

Happy new year!
Oh John you beauty love these vids mate the German thats one of my 3 go to rigs I love the slimpcity of it and you can use wafter or bottom bait 👌
Glad you enjoyed this one!
Nice video man very simple to follow and that's what I need 😂 just wanted to ask on my local water we can only use size 10 max and wanted to know would this work with that size hook? Thanks 😁
You could down scale everything and maybe trim the wafter a little.
This looks like it could be a good rig for catfish as well.
Yep it could work Mike.
This may sound really dumb but could you use this rig inside a PVA bag?
Do you have any preference on when you should be using a wafter over a pop up? Been using pop ups and not had much success so far
Hi Daniel, great question! I use both, although my preference or what I find myself fishing most is various types of wafters. Because in most cases I'll be trying to locate clean areas on the lakebed to fish such as gravel, clay or firm silt - in this situation the carp are investigating the hookbait as they would be feeding on the other freebies, so a wafter provides a good match and being a light, balanced hookbait will react really quickly too. Where this is not possible where weed or other lakebed debris is present or I want my hookbait to sit above thick silt that could effect the taste/flavour of the hookbait I'll use a pop-up - to ensure the hookbait is clear of anything that could prohibit the functioning of the rig. I'll also use pop-ups when casting a showing fish or in the spring when the carp are most curious and times when i want the hookbait to grab the attention of the fish.
My figure 8 knot breaks when i pull tight, and yes i moisture it and i slowly bring up the tension (because friction) so thats not the issue anyone has tips?
Which size pop up ist good for this rig? Thanks
Great video, are these rigs only supposed to be used with wafters and pop ups?
You can also use them with bottom baits, but a wafter would be our first choice.
Great rig I like to use it, but only when is not to much breams. They often come to investigate and prick them self even with large boilies.
Like it! Bream can be a nightmare sometimes!
The first rig set up looks fantastic!! Can you actually buy them already made? To save time ?
Not sure Martin, but they're very easy to put together - so I'd suggest tying a few at home ahead of your session to save time.
@@MainlineBaitsCarpFishingTV thank you!! I’ve been having a go and off to the lakes this weekend!
@@martingoesfishing5762 Good luck!
Would these be good for pva bag method? If not what is the best rig for pva? Thanks
You could use this rig - but a supple braid rig is preferred. Here's a link to a video showing you how: czcams.com/video/1yyQuvuYFZ8/video.html
Would these still work with other baits? Like corn or dough for example
It would be possible if you ensure a secure attachment of the hookbait.
Great vid! What’s the difference between this and a KD rig please?
Both very similar and very simple to tie, the main difference would be the KD Rig having a Hair so there can be more separation between the hookbait and hook, where as the German Rig gives more of a blowback effect with the bait screw or micro swivel running on the hook.
@@MainlineBaitsCarpFishingTV Which would be more effective and in what situations? Loving the tutorials as a recently returning angler.
bait floss is the best dont ask me why but seems to act better for me
Hi does anyone know if it is possible to shrink the kicker mine spins round and pulls up and down?
I have used German rig , I don't take any coating off , fish it Ian mcmillan style
Thats another good way!
What size is the baitscrew please?
Very good rig, only question I have is, how can it be effective if the hook is laying down flat? surely that just allows the carp to play around with the bait without getting hooked. I’ve just starting fishing myself so who knows it could be a ridiculous question 🤷🏻♂️
The reason you use that little kicker is so that when a fish picks up your bait it will reset the hook to an aggressive hold, sure it might be laying flat and not hookable on the ground but as soon as that bait is lifted the hook will set nice
Which lead arrangement can you use this for? Can you use this on a helicopter lead set up?
Yes you can or a lead clip system.
Can these be used with any other hook pattern and only say with a bottom bait on a running rig setup
Hi Jane, The only hook to really avoid is a Chod type hook with an out turned eye.
@@MainlineBaitsCarpFishingTV so a wide gape will be fine..and also I use a running rig set up for all my fishing will this be OK...your videos are fantastic for newbies like myself
@@janeconnolly506 Yes a wide gape will be okay and a running rig set-up will be okay with this rig. Glad the videos are helping!
Can i use this in a solid PVA bag, if so what would i have to change?
Yes, you could - you'd probably want to shorten the rig a little to say 5 inches and also use a soft, uncoated braid.
Подобная презентация будет работать на осторожную рыбу?😮
What size wafters are you useing John
These are Pastel Barrel Wafters which are roughly 14mm by 12mm - this rig will also work as well with out 15mm Balanced Wafters or Cork Dust Wafters.
Great video as usual, mainline what happend to Assassain-8? they was a deadly bait...tiny 10m frozen me and my dad caught biggest fish out of every lake near me back in the day. You stopped making them and Maple-8 and still make Active-8 which are sh** compared to either, especially the new active8
Unfortunately Assin-8 was discontinued, as other new baits come along.
@@MainlineBaitsCarpFishingTV any chance of the ingredients or part of them? my dad would love it, cheers
@@daleHarrison93 Sorry can't reveal our secret recipes!
I always strip a bit more coating of so from the sinker to the hook would be uncoated i feel it can turn in much easier that way. Just me or anyone agree?
This rig any good for good silt?
Rivers?
Yes its suitable for those situations.
Would it work with a 14mm balanced wafter
Yes it would.
Can i use size 8 hooks for this rig, a lot of places i fish is size 8 max,?
Yes you can - the balance of the hookbait should still be okay, but always check in the margin and if needed trim the hookbait a little.
@@MainlineBaitsCarpFishingTV thanks guys, keep up the fantastic work
What hook beans do you use, I always find they slip on the cast so the hookbait is too close to the barb of the hook, especially with larger snowman
Its a Korda hook bead.
I use Korda aswell. Just steam them.
@@SeacryBlastsAloT so this will grip the hook better will it, nice one mate i'll give it a go 👌👍
@@paulthomas4859 you can also use a tini tyni drop of super glue or a lighter. just dont bring the lighter near the mainline. whenever you are using a lighter I would wet everything close what could get damaged.
cheers
@@SeacryBlastsAloT Super Glue makes the bead go brittle and breaks on cast 🤬😡🤯
What size hooks are you using with those baits?
Thats a size 6 Kurv.
Класс 👍👍👍...!
Thanks!
What size hook would i use for 16lb carp
A size 8-6 hook should be fine Rhys.
Did you try german rig with fluorocarbon?
Can you use with a pop up?
It can be adapted for pop-ups yes.
can u do just a simple bottom bait rig ?
Hi Sam, yep we can do that!
Great videos, helpful and well presented. Why is it called the German? 🤷🏼♂️
Thanks glad you're finding them helpful - I believe the name came about as the rig was developed by German angler Christian Kessler.
Because he uses a DUMBell😂
Just kidding
EASY
I use the German as a pop up rig
Sounds good Dylan!
What hook are you useing and what size plz John
This is a size 6 Kurv.
