in my version of this rig I've been adding a small shrink tube kicker and having just a couple mm stripped behind the kicker for a little movement. do you think that would have a negative effect on the mechanics of the rig??

Couldn't you just use a bait screw in place of the floss and swivel mate?
James I was doing that today with a wafter and had absolutely perfect hookhold in the middle of the bottom lip .

@aorticmonkey from 50 years of fishing you should know barbed hooks do less damage to a fishes mouth, logic & common sense really
