Can’t wait for this. My answer is simple - pre 33.
Pre-33 is sweet. We made arguments for both!
I like to keep one Pre-33 Double eagle as a reminder that we retain our spirit to extended our middle finger to the government
There ya go! I like it!
Imagine your grandchildren holding a gold coin that survived not only the gold confiscation and great depression, but the coming hyperinflationary depression. Special stuff.
He’s got better prices than A lot of online dealers
He does. I mean, everything shifts from dealer dealer, but Lou is consistent.
New subscriber here from the coast of North Carolina.... this video popped up on my feed, thought I'd give a look and enjoyed! Wish I had a LCS close to me but the closest is over an hour drive. Interesting information here! Looking forward to seeing your next video! 👍👍
Heya, Jim! Always nice to catch up with another local! I’m down the coast quite a bit, in the Atlantic Beach/Morehead City area…and definitely the Outer Banks. Love it out there. Thanks for the feedback, and welcome!
First-time visitors to your channel, I like your format 👍
Thanks for the support! Glad you found the channel! 🤘
Great video on Pre -1933 / Modern Gold coins. I just happened to see your channel pop up on my CZcams home page and I clicked on it.
I mostly stack Pre - 1933 Gold and because of the history behind them. I currently have a few $1.00 , $2.50 gold coins , the $5.00 gold coin ( skipped the $10.00 gold coin for some reason ) and went straight for the $20.00 gold coin. I only have one modern gold coin that I wear as a ring along with 1 gram of gold that's also a ring. and a 1813 twenty francs with Napoleon on the front.
Hey, thanks so much for checking it out! I'm like you, in that I really appreciate the history behind P33. Love my $10's and $20's, but they're all fantastic!
You should buy a little of both. Pre-1933 US Gold has not only bullion value but numismatic value too. Modern gold bullion is also great. Buy both.
Both is always an option that’s on the table. We discuss that aspect in the vid! 😉
Agree
In my humble opinion Gold is Gold!
It is. But, as long as SHTF doesn’t happen, Pre-33 will carry a slight premium over standard gold bullion. 😁
@@SilverGoldStackAttack SHTF is already happening but it's just BUILDING UP. What about pre 1933 foreign gold coins what is your opinion on them? I have 2 pre 1933 foreign gold coins.
@@tripplebrown2132 - Sovereign gold is an AWESOME value! Little less liquidity, but shouldn’t have any problem selling it.
Thanks Stack Attack for helping out the silver & gold stacking community with all your video's and information . Your doing a Great job. I also think adding some Pre-33 Gold to your stack is a great idea. At today's much lower premium levels when compared to several years ago now is the right time to pick some of these up ! Start with the old $5 Liberty and the $10 Liberty heads in circulated condition. $550 & $1,100 or so. If you have the cash go for the $20 Certified ( PCGS/NGC) MS62 or MS63 which today are just over $2,000 . I really don't think anybody would loose money at these price levels. Even if gold drops 20% these classic pre-33 wouldn't drop as much. But modern gold eagles would ! Just my 2 cents worth folks. Coin collector/dealer and stacker since 1974.
Thanks, Lou! Great insight, as always!
Perfect, time to get coffee ☕ 👊
I don't have any American gold coins. But pre-33 or modern, I like all the gold coins 😁
You do have some beautiful stuff from what I’ve seen, though!
@@SilverGoldStackAttack thank you
the very little gold I own is pre33
Still very nice gold to own, my friend!
also a Pre 33 stacker, always enjoy hearing about Pre 33 and what people stack
I’m newer to Pre-33 as far as owning them, but I’ve definitely always admired ‘em. Hooked!
HEDGE YOUR BET USE PRE-33 GOLD
If the economy grows the historic & collector value will grow, but if the economy crashes the gold will hold the valve it is the only win/win 🤯💸
There is much less historical upside on modern eagles if the economy grows 🤔😮
I do ❤ both though 👍🏻
What Historical Event has even happened with Modern Eagles or Maples 🤔 …none, but Pre 33s have and awesome story to tell 😊 🇺🇸
If they could only talk, my friend. If only…😉
@@SilverGoldStackAttack between the settling of the Wild West to the Gilded Age of the men that build American Industry to the Gagsters of the 20s these gold coins are American 🇺🇸 History ❤️
I have one pre-33 $5 1882 Liberty head. I almost bought the 81 with it. I definitely love the pre-33 gold. I intend on at least one or two more coins this year, and a modern Eagle.
Stack um up! 😁
Sounds like a plan to me! Keep it up! Thanks for watching!
No more pre33 will be made, there is a limited amount. Modern gold coins, it seems as an unlimited amount. Many are made every year and will continue to be made. Pre33 for sure.
Yup. Only a finite amount available, plus the history behind it.
Should we stack pre-33 or modern gold? Yes!
🤣 I like the way you think!
OK, you got me going with your radio playing Brian Adams. But, I love pre-1933 Gold. That stuff is so nice, and it's hard to believe that it was real currency. Real money.
Hey, that was Don Henley! 😉 And I feel the same way…hard to believe these were once circulating for purchases and whatnot.
@@SilverGoldStackAttack OK, I hear Don Henley now! Still a good song!
Thank you for your video. Regarding 9:39, Louis Gouchie misspoke when he said that a modern American Gold Eagle coin contains 10% copper. Instead a modern American Gold Eagle coin has 22 karat purity and contains 5.33% copper + 3% silver + 91.67% gold ever since they began being minted in 1986.. On the other hand, pre-1933 gold coins contain 10% copper + 90% gold.
Thanks for watching! He actually made that purity point just a bit before that, and did quote incorrectly on the line you’re referring to. It was his first time being recorded…might’ve been a bit nervous! He does thoroughly know his craft, though. I can assure you of that. Nice catch!
Also, the American Gold Eagle bullion 1 oz coin CONTAINS 1 oz of gold. The copper mix results in coin that weighs a little bit more than 1 oz.
The 5 dollar liberties are cheaper by a few bucks than the 1/4 oz AGE…no question thats an excellent value
Totally agree! I absolutely love the stuff.
did not your mom tell you, that you get what you pay for.
5 dollar liberties are cheaper because they are cheaper, of course.
you are deluding yourself about the value. everything sells for what it is worth, all the time, everytime, dont trust me, ask your mom.
Advantages to both! Ill take both : )
Right there with ya!
I’m a fan of the pre 33 gold just holding the history in my hand is worth it to me
You can’t go wrong as long as you have gold and silver in your hands no matter what form it’s in
Buy within your budget and get what you like
Agree with you on the history. Wish they could tell their story! 😉
Good video presentation. I've never purchased a pre-33, however they are interesting. I've hit the pause button on purchases and currently stacking cash. Recently viewed a nice collection of pre-33 slab graded gold and it made my mouth water. I've always liked the St Gaudens but I find the $10 Indian impressive after holding one. Guess I'll have to start window shopping for when I jump back on board.
Once you get them on the brain, they're tough to stay away from! I had no interest in them until I did this video with my LCS. Beautiful, and packed with history and numismatic value above gold. Can't beat 'em!
Modern day works best for me when it comes right down to it but I do love some pre 33..
Yup. Tough to choose one or the other.
$1,000 for the MS62 $10 Indian head is a deal.
Yeah, it was. Back then! 😉 Everything went up!
Nice video! Just liked and subbed! I will be enjoying your other vids! Most of my gold stack is bullion, but I bought a 1914 St. Gaudens double eagle in VF last year, and it is breathtaking to behold. You just have to see these things in person to really get the full impact. I just bought a Liberty double eagle in BU that hasn't arrived yet - probably a 1904, of course. For the slight difference in price, I'd say to get what you like, or get both, but these pre-33 coins are just so beautiful it would be a shame for any stacker not to check them out. They are a nice piece of history, and have that numismatic value to consider too. It's believed that only about 3 percent of all that were minted survived the confiscation and meltdown. Also, I like that I'm not afraid to handle them, since they are much harder than .999 and were made to be circulated. (I know the modern eagles and a few other modern coins are around .90 too, but the pure bullion ones are so soft I'm almost afraid to even take them out of their caps!)
Welcome! I’m glad you enjoyed the video! Wishing you all the best with your stacking!
Pre-33 is my favorite because at one point in time some of it was turned in to the government, so I like to think I have some gold that was hidden and there’s a story behind it. Plus it’s just better gold I feel like .
The history of Pre-33 really works for me as well. I love that part of it. Modern gold bullion is cool, but it doesn't have that history going for it!
i love the modern buffalo and eagle, but i’ve got a soft spot for those incuse $5 indians. i’m still working on finishing up a tube
I like both Indian designs. They’re beautiful!
Great job breaking down the advantages of both the pre ‘33 and modern gold. Looks like you’ve got a great LCS there in Raleigh. Thanks brother!
Thank ya, my friend. Lou’s the man!
I love pre33 designs. Maybe one day. Premiums seem to high for me right now. I need to learn more about them first.
History in your hands, for sure. They’re pretty awesome!
Definitely Beautiful coins. Thinking for the price I'd want pure Gold. But a pre 33 would be nice to fondle 🤭
Yup. Buffs are best for the pure gold aspect for sure!
❤ Pre33. Thanks for taking the time to make this video, great job as always 😊
Much appreciated! Thanks for checking it out!
But...an AU $5 Lib Half Eagle is $573 today at SD. I bought a BU $5 Commemorative from Liberty Coin this morning for $463. Same amount of gold. Im gonna keep buying Comms over pre-33.
It all boils down to preference: Numismatic vs bullion. Can’t go wrong, either way! 🤘
I don’t think he’s checked prices lately. 😂
Great video. The modern American eagle you should note that although they are 22k they still contain 1 FULL oz of pure gold.
Yup, just a lower purity than the Buffalo! Thanks for checking out the vid!
Buffalo and maples all day.
Buffs are amazing. Can’t beat that pure gold color!
The Indian head is on the bucket list… maybe one day.
The regular, or the incuse? They’re both amazing!
@@SilverGoldStackAttack
Incuse for sure!
@@fromontario6954 - Good one!
Gold and fiat were 20.67 versus $20. Paper. In 1933,however
TODAY ONE OUNCE BULLION $50. Coin is $1,900.NOT THE SAME 🖖
They’re definitely not the same, but there are advantages to each in their own right. The old gold was more indicative of the gold content, dollar-wise. Today’s gold has a denomination, but we all know that has absolutely zero relevancy. It’s a token denomination.
Both! Some of each.
I’m with ya!
Great video!! I love both, but want to get more Pre-33 this year
I’m with you! Definitely a little more focus on P-33 this year!
holding pre '33 gold/constitutional silver is holding american original. today's mints are just "constitutional law "... 🤔
It's history in your hand, for sure! Love that about it.
I love these history lessons and it blows my mind that a lot of people are so complacent to think that dark history can't happen again, and that's just another reason I choose to stack. I would REALLY love to add some pre 33 to the stack but I have other things im working on first. Great video buddy. Some beautiful pieces he showed.
Let’s hope history doesn’t repeat itself in this case, my friend. Thanks so much for checking it out!
A lot of people like to fear monger that it could happen again, but here's the deal. The US is not on a gold standard anymore, there would be no point. On top of that there was no door to door confiscation, loads of people just hid theirs and nothing bad happened to them (hence why a bunch of pre 33 gold still exists), the gov just got the stuff in the banks signed over. Third, there is more gold in electronics than ever, and it would be impractical to try and limit that or recycling operations. And of course, if the government ever wanted to hold onto more gold the first thing they would do is cease all production and selling of gold bullion to the public, there's zero sign of that happening.
I'm one of them. There are easier ways to confiscate wealth.
Good video. That was a good discussion.
Thanks, Spokane! Appreciate the visit!
$500? Doesn't sound like much numismatic premium to me
He has fantastic prices!
I like both! 💪😎👍💰🇺🇸🙏
Same! But, I’m starting to lean more toward P33. Just drawn to the symbolism, history and art of them, I guess.
Thanks enjoyed
Thanks for stopping by to check it out!
Good educational content! Attended a coin show over the weekend and picked up a 09 UHR double eagle!
😳 Wow! Slabbed, or loose? You spent some $$$ on that one!
@@SilverGoldStackAttack NGC ms 70. Shout out to H&N collectibles(eBay seller but local -ish to me) for also giving me the original packaging and box to go with it.
@@pyrocouple5703 - Sweet pickup, for sure!
Wish he would have spent at least as much time answering the question in depth as he did promoting himself. Still, picked up a couple nuggets of knowledge such as the 25 piece sale threshold. .
I mean...he sponsored the vid, so...I always give the courtesy of a plug whenever they give me their time for an interview. Fair's fair! 😁 I thought he covered things pretty well...he described each coin, the purity, the gold content and a ballpark figure for price.
Some Don Henley music makes any drive, even during crappy weather, just a bit better. I just go for modern bullion. I figured I would take my chances on any gold confiscation. Premiums are a bit lower for modern bullion, so I would rather go with those.
I do like some of his music. And you’re right about the premiums; it all just depends on what means more, I suppose.
Am a Brit and don't like the modern dark copper like colour which coming out of the royal mint.
Yeah, but those gold Britannias are insanely beautiful!
thats why i like Kruger rands and maple leafs for purity and also familiarity. Pree -33 is fine IF you can buy it reasonably priced. cuz to me in the end the amount of gold inside the coin will make things matter , BUT if you have to make a choice of losing your house , or cashing in your pre-33 for the same gold in modern value , what will you do?
Don’t forget the numismatic value behind P33; Even though a Double Eagle has slightly less than an ounce of gold, it still sells for more than a standard gold Eagle or gold Buffalo! Now, if everything hits the fan, and gold is gold, then all bets are off for P33. Their numismatic value won’t matter, at that point. Appreciate the comment! 🤘 PS: As far as purity goes, the Krug has a gold purity of 91.67%, or 22k. Same as the gold Eagle. Maples and Buffaloes have a higher purity.
are we "stacking" for a multiple on numismatic value or are we stacking for a multiple on maximum intrinsic store of value?
Depends on who’s spending the money, I suppose. I do realize there aren’t many folks “stacking” Pre-33. 😉
Geez, I'm so behind on everything. Great video with this comparison. I'm picking up numismatics for the most part this year. Pre '33 just might end up being on of investments.
I'm adding some Pre-33 tomorrow, my friend. I think I've gotten the bug. This is gonna hurt...my wallet. Oy. 🙄
@@SilverGoldStackAttack you'll be fine. Just don't get ahead of yourself. It's a transition of budget. Silver is easy, gold is rewarding.
Pre 33 Gold coins ARE NOT ROTH IRA ELIGIBLE 🙀 EAGLES ARE ELIGIBLE 🤔
Correct. One advantage we failed to cover!
"Stackers" buy modern bullion. Coin collectors buy pre-1933 gold coins.
It’s all semantics, really. Just like with my modern gold, I’m “stacking” Pre-33 as a higher-end payout when I decide to sell. I’m definitely not collecting them. Everyone’s different, I suppose. 😉
So what did you in up getting?
😔 Nothing. I absolutely blew up the PM budget this week in a huge way already! 🤣 Next time. It’ll be Pre-33 for sure.
For some reason every time I have the change to buy pre 33 I never seem to go that route.
Understandable. The premiums are definitely higher, but I believe their additional numismatic value makes that difference worthwhile. I’m adding Pre-33 slowly as I go.
Indian head is too high. I prefer Liberty.
Too spendy to buy, and lcs won't offer much, if any, over spot when it's time to sell
Depends on where silver’s price is at the time. You’re right, though; spot or barely above, if you sell to the shops. Better off selling peer to peer. Just takes longer and more hassle.
