PRE 33 Gold Purchased AT SPOT - PRE33 Gold Coin Stacking Overview

  • In this video I talk about pre 33 gold and I unbox some pre 33 gold coins which I purchaed at spot. Pre33 gold is getting harder to find at a reasonable price. If you can find pre 33 gold coins close to spot then you should pick them up to add to your gold stack. I also talk about pre 33 gold vs. bullion and show how double eagles, eagles, and half eagles compare to American gold eagles. If you want to be stacking pre 33 gold then there are some types you need to avoid like the quarter eagle and the $1 and $3 FV gold coins. My pre 33 gold collection is small, but I hope to be picking up more in the future. Good luck finding some good deals on pre 33 gold coins out there!

      I'm going the other way. When pre-33 is at/near spot and well below red/blue book value, that tells me folks are not collecting but instead they are stacking. You can get some beautiful 1800's European silver/gold at-or-near spot too. Nice to have a variety. Maybe someday more folks will start collecting again... If you want something that's taking off for collectors, check out the annual Perth Mint Kookaburra Kilos, they are really nice looking and big hunk of encased silver that might look good on display as a piece of artwork.

    My dad did paper routs as a kid in like the late 60s early 70s and some people tipped him Morgan dollars and peace dollars, best thing I saw that he got was a $5 gold Indian double eagle.

    Getting old gold at spot is fantastic. I haven't gotten any in a while but it's a great way to stack if you can. Also, private sales are very good, you just have to watch more closely since you're not dealing with a reputable business. Thanks!

    Pre 33s are my fav cause they aint making no mo! Premiums are higher on nice 2 1/2 and 5$ cause they actually got used/circulated for money, so most are not in good shape. 20 and 10$ are better value.

    I really don't like pre 33 because they are not a whole number of weight. You mentioned on line, I don't like that either due to shipping charges and credit card fees, I'll stick with lcs for my purchase. Great video, I'll rethink pre 33 for my stack, thanks

    10 years ago I was buying a house and had to sell some of my stack. I quickly found out that LCS in my city didn’t want to even touch pre 33. He said it’s impossible to resell. Now I stay away. Only maples and buffaloes, just can’t go wrong with24k gold.
    We stack Gold to one day sell it. Every one buys maples and buffalos. In Asia they don’t buy anything less the 24k. Greetings from 🇨🇦

    I find all the various eagles confusing.. the eagle, double eagle, pre 1933 vs current eagle. Have you done a video about the history and differences of the eagle?

    • @snd3054
      @snd3054 Před 2 lety

      I think the original US coinage was meant to have units of "mills" (tenth of a cent) and cents (tenth of a "disme", or dime) - both in copper; dimes (tenth of a dollar) and dollars (tenth of an 'eagle') - both in silver; and gold 'eagles' (10 dollars). Coins were often known by their fractional names e.g. 5-cent pieces were "half-dimes", 25-cent pieces were "quarter dollars". The same applied to divisions of the eagle; a 5-dollar coin was known as a "half-eagle", while the $20 piece was a double-eagle. The US stopped minting gold coins for circulation in 1933. Many years later (1986, according to Wikipedia) the US started minting gold bullion coins, with the 1 ounce coin being called an "eagle", along with coins for various fractions of an ounce. So a "pre-33" eagle (or fraction of an eagle) refers to a coin minted prior to 1933, intended for circulation (or to back gold certificates). A modern eagle is a bullion investment coin, not intended to circulate.
