Thank you!!
You’re welcome Beth, good luck with it mate 👍Kent
Thank you so much I removed mine instantly with in 5 minutes mine was off. I wanted to post a pic, but not sure how to add it.
Oh wow that’s awesome Namib, glad it was a success for you, thanks 👌Kent
It works thank you
Hey Raquel, did you use heat or scraper? Kent
@@InspireDIY I use hair dryer it did work
Ta comrade. A good straight forward vid & from Oz. Ours is baked on. Was going to try turps or isopropyl alcohol for the residual glue? Worth it? Quicker?
Hey Grittsy, yeah I would be interested to know how the alcohol goes, I haven’t had any luck with turps. Best of luck, Kent
Cheers @@InspireDIY Will keep you posted.
Great video. Would it be beneficial to spray the tint with a solution and let it soak overnight? I'm about to remove tint on 20 windows and want it to go as fast as possible. Thanks!
Hey Robin Hood, that sounds like a great sugggestion, but what solution would penetrate through the film and break down the adhesive?
@@InspireDIY yeah I don’t know. I was hoping you had the insight. I didn’t see it on ur channel so thought I would ask. Thanks again. Great video.
Thanks
Hey Eitashi, thanks for leaving a comment.. 👍 Kent
+ floor steamer will do
- Karcher SC3
+ plastic razor blade
> start with a corner edge
> two layers of film, if you can just remove the tinting later, much easier and just glides off. This will leave the base/security layer which is see through. From my experience about 80% of the time you get lucky and just the outer layer comes off only with no further steaming necessary. If both layers come away then keep steaming and pull the sheet once you have enough to have a good hold of the film
Well done a 👌 great advice mate
I removed tint today with 5 inch SS Blades, and moisture. I was thinking there must be a better way. Your description was almost exactly what i was imagining, should be the way of doing it. Im looking into that Karcher now. What industry are you in?
Thanks
Hey trang, you are welcome mate🤙Kent
You will be use break oil on this glue then apply soap water it will be remove easy
Does the scraper that you used scratch the glass? My windows have tint that will not come off at all!
Hey Audrey, a clean sharp blade in the scraper left zero scratches on my glass. Let us know how you get on, best of luck. Kent
Goo Gone won’t work on making the adhesive/glue come off easier?
Good to know... any suggested products or techniques you've tried? Cheers, Kent
paint thinner will eat that adhesive very quickly. Be careful to not soak it to much, you dont want the paint thinner running down into the rubber seals or paint around the window. however very effective.
Cheers for the tip, and the warning Marco! 🤙 Kent
Also how do you avoid scratching the window with the scraper? I’m afraid of scratching my windows. Thanks!
Hey Kate, a razor blade style scraper used the right way won’t scratch the glass! 100% safe to use. Have a look at one like this.. www.amazon.com.au/dp/B097YXVJLH/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_glt_i_04MQJEDZDBVSRJE628HP?linkCode=ml2&tag=inspirediy-22 Best of luck 👍Kent
The same way you don't cut yourself shaving your legs 😄
Do you think solar screens or tint works better?
Hey steve. I’ve never used solar screens, do you have an opinion? Kent
i have tinted film baked on the outside of the window. my floor is high up in the 14th floor. is there any good way to take off the film from the outside of the window?
Hey CM, not that I know of.. hopefully you find a solution 🤞 Kent
What kind of scraper? Is it a razor blade scraper?
Hey Kate, yes a razor blade type, one like this
SRUDOKIN Razor Blade Scraper amzn.to/3zJP8uY 👍Kent
Why Detergent? can you use baby shampoo and water to remove it?
Hello again JoyBoy, yeah mate baby shampoo is fine👍
🔝
Cheers axel 🤙 Kent
I placed a film on my window and after a couple of days I noticed along the top and bottom edges it started to shrink a bit.
Hey Cora, thats no good! What brand? Kent
I am going to try this. Got a bedroom window, the tint has all crumpled up etc
Ok Prosper, let me know how you get on.. any questions, just ask! Thanks, Kent
I found that using a steamer works a little better
Hey Erica, thanks for that tip, I just got given an old steamer.. I’m going to try it on the last set on windows I have to remove old tint from. 👍Kent
What is "detergent"? That's laundry soap in America. Window cleaner like Windex?
Hey Andrew, haha that’s funny - lost in translation I guess. I meant the liquid soap you would use to wash the dishes. 👍Kent
Have tried goo gone?
Hey rn pl, no I haven't, I have my daughter's windows to do next.. I will try it out if you recommend it, have you used it?
I tried it and it didn't work for me.
Huh, that's interesting! I also tried it on adhesive residue (not window tint glue though) and didn't work for me either 🤷♂️. I wonder if anyone has had success..
That moment when you see the tint is actually on the inside and you’re looking back at your window, that’s six feet up the wall and over stairs. 😖
Ohh, time to build a scaffold?
I’m a window cleaner!
Good job!
But….
Your scratching the window that way I promise you!
Hey Edgar, none of them appear scratched. how would you attack this differently? Would love your input👍 Kent
its a lot easier to steam them off
Hey Drewroni1. …especially if I owned a steamer🤔
You damn sure don't low ball removal @ 1 a ft !!! & use a much bigger scraper
Haha Louis, I think a bigger scraper is on the cards for the next one! Am about to try a chemical film adhesive removal😮 video coming up! Thanks mate, Kent
