Where all my 25V's at current or future?
What is the projectionnfor the availability of this job in the next two years? Really want to go for this or 25M
Hello. Can i ask a question please
Me i go to reclass in May
Going to meps next week!
Can you make Sgt. Major as a photographer?
I was in 1968-71 MOS was 84C20 and 84B20 back then.
Never saw a photographer higher than SSG.
I was a 25R but did 25V COMCAM in Afghanistan 2011. Adventure of a lifetime
This Is Sergeant Major (Ret) Dean. I retired in 1994 but served in this career field my entire career. It's good to see an update from the MOS I experienced and spent over 24 years in. I started out in 1970 and went to Ft Monmouth NJ for my AIT Training in then what was the 84 B MOS. Still photogrpher. On to Alaska for 12 months then back to Ft Monmouth for 84C training. Motion picture spec. was picked up as an instructor and taught the MOS there for over two years. A special assn came open at the Pentagon and White House where I volunteered for and was accepted. Spent 6 years at the Pentagon doing all kinds of exciting documentation in still and video production. Spent alot of time in the US Capital and White House filming all sort of high level events.
From there I volunteered for an overseas assignment to West Berlin Germany with a military Intelligence unit. after 4 years was transferred to DINFOS at that time in Ft Ben Harrision IN. worked as a PJ instructor for 4 years. back to Germany with Air Defense Div as a Public affairs NCO. After making SGM I was transferred to Lowry AFB in Denver at the photo school house. I was on the base closure committee to transfer the schoolhouse to Ft Meade. With over 24 years active service I wa given the choice to transfer to Meade or Retire. My family situation convinced me to retire rather than make another move.
I can say that I absolutely loved almost every minute I spent in this career field. It was exciting and challenging at every assignment. Best of luck to those who choose this career. I'd be happy to answer and questions about my experiences jdean0001@hotmail.com
thats crazy a pog could make E-9... were you a mason?
You made Sgt. Major as a photographer? How did you do that? I was in 1968-71. Never saw a photographer higher than SSG. That's why I didn't stay in. Loved the job! I was 84C20 and 84B20. Made Specialist 4 in 1 -1/2 years. But.... I thought the highest you could get was SSG . Wasn't going to spend the next 17 year's (retirement), and only go up 2 ranks.
@@juanshaftpatel7488 I never heard of a photographer make Sgt. Major. I made E-4 in 1-1/2 years. Highest rank photographer I ever saw was SSG.
Vietnam Vet. 1968-71.
That's why I didn't stay in , wasn't willing to go another 17 year's ( retirement), only to go up 2 more ranks.
@@timvaughn5532 you shoulda joined the masons
I went to the 84B school on Lowry AFB in 1989 so may have been there when you were there. Best time of my life staying in Bldg 1400. Very nice quarters compared to living on the typical Army base. Was sad to hear that Lowry AFB is no longer having had so many great memories of the time I spent there.
I deployed to Iraq as a 25v and I was traveling like crazy all over the country in many types of airplanes and helicopters I never even seen. I was doing missions mostly with the military police, special forces and the infantry. The missions were mostly top secret and they were some wild ones. Sometimes I did 3 missions a day.
This MOS is great. You can be assign to work at the Pentagon, at White House, TV stations in South Korea and even on Navy Ships.
I like this mos and I also would like something 46series
great vid, thanks man. hope u doing good.
Yes sir thanks for watching
Thanks for the insight! This is something I’m going to push for myself and I’ve been trying to do research on this MOS. Can’t wait to see what comes next!
Now is the time to get into this MOS, because it's understrength so go for it! Thanks for watching
Hey SGT, thanks for bringing light on our MOS!
NP, This is one of the main reason I started this channel because when I was about to join I couldn't find much on our MOS online, but outdated stuff. Thanks for watching don't forget to subscribe and like this video!
My MOS was 84C20 and 84B20.
Still and Motion Picture.
Served when Still, Motion Picture, and photo lab were all separate MOS's.
1968-71. Vietnam Vet.
Today, being a photographer in the Army is a lot harder....doing Still, Video, PhotoShop, writing the story ....all in the same MOS.
This is the information I was looking for!
Awesome video, earned my subscription. This is my top pick MOS for when I enlist in a few months. You have great insight, and you're videos are really informative. How do you not have more subscribers? Keep it up man.
CandidElk thanks for watching bro, glad I can help!
This look so fun and ive never though of military as a option until now
Informative video, thank you.
Thanks Ricky, was thinking of this.
This video looks up to date
I seriously need this MOS ! Ugh
Thanks for this video! I want to go this mos but my recruiter told me it was a hard one to get into
Snow Shoveler Hey man keep asking about it remember it’s your career! Thanks for watching and don’t forget to subscribe if you haven’t already 😊
My dude Bowden. Its Anderson, I was with you at Fort Meade. Glad to see youre doing well man.
What's up bro! Thanks for watching man!
I'm so glad I found this video thank you for uploading because this is among the jobs/careers I'm interested in! My dream career is film production whether I'm directing, producing, scriptwriting or even video editing. What all Jobs in the army can help you get a career in film production after you're done with the army and what's your best advice on film production?
Logan_TheGreat Same Man! Looking to get into producing/writing. I’m debating this MOS but still looking around. Any advice?
Ricky great stuff bro. Love it. Question for you. If my ultimate goal is to get into the movie studios say something like Disney or Marvel, would you recommend the 25V or the 46R? Based off of your experience.
Thanks for this video. I’m a recruiter who asked for this job. I FOUND him this job, and I thought he would be happy but the 6 year contract obligation scared him away. 😰
I'm in the national guard and in college for film/television production and had no idea about this MOS
Great job my man's I plan on switching braches from AF to Army to become a 25V.
KingSharCon no one switches from AF to ARMY and loves it😫
CIERA MICHELLE all my family is army and im weird as fuck 😂 plus I hate AF test it's ridiculous
Thanks for the insight. I was offered this job and should be going to boot soon. This helped me a bit on what I should look forward to. I will take you motto to heart when I go.... if that's ok lol.. #BeObssessed #OrBeAverage..
Scottie L Bee thanks for watching bro! Good luck with everything.
Will do.. Left a like and subscribed.. Keep up the good work..
I’m thinking about doing this 🤷♀️
Awesome 😎
I'm really interested in this
If you want to deploy go to the 55th combat camera (fort meade) - the only active duty combat camera company in the Army. As far as I know the war is still raging on. Go get some. Contact your branch manager and they will send you there without hesitation.
My best friend is 25v is it hard on the asvab or relatively easy in honest truth yes or no
@@dakotasavage5575 its in the middle not hard not easy
Any details for someone thinking of changing their MOS to a 25v? How are you treated vs a brand new soldier in AIT?
He looks like my old Staff SGT. Shits crazy!
Had this MOS in my contract, but in the 9th week of Basic Training, I was reclassed -- very tricky recruiters
How did that happen, if you had contract and you didn't fail any training you should've still had at. What's your MOS now?
I have recently noticed that this MOS doesn't require a secret clearance. That wasn't the case in 2008. I was brought in to 1SG office and told that I didn't recieve a secret clearance (student loan debt). I got to pick 4 from a small list and they sent me to ft Sam to be a Combat Medic. Shady thing is, I later found out that my clearance was rejected WEEKS before I ever shipped off to basic. Oh well, got a wife and kid and an all expenses paid trip to Afghanistan for it. --Soldier Medic Warrior Spirit
But hey, I'm all doom and gloom, GREAT VIDEO!
HOLD UP!! I GOT RECLASSED FROM 25V TO MEDIC AND YOU GOT RECLASSED FROM MEDIC TO 25V. AINT THAT SOME SHI.......
Hey Ricky, I am currently serving in the reserves while pursuing my degree in film production. My current MOS is 56m but I'm think about either staying in and changing to 25V or getting out. Any advice?
Hey I had a quick question. I'm hoping to enter the army as a 25V. My question is what is the likelihood that I could get with a combat team and actually deploy to places like Syria, Afghanistan etc. I'd like to be in a combat senario at least once. Thanks!
Thinking about going into this MOS. I am enlisting in June. How did you practice videography when you were doing photography and how were you able to practice photography when you were doing videography?
Alex Dill I invested in a camera and started shooting on my own time.
Well, this video is five years old now, and it seems like a pretty cool MOS. You must have seen some pretty cool stuff in your travels. Would you do it again knowing what you know now?
I want this mos ive been shooting since I was 7 its in my nature guns and cameras
Hey there! Thank you for everything you’ve done. I’m studying for the ASVAB now. I’m in Miami, FL & I would love to get out of here to travel the world. What score should I aim for though? I’m focusing on the main four but most importantly mathematics. Please respond :)
Such a great video! How did you get accepted to your last two duty stations you mentioned? AFM and APD?
Leon E. Orange Jr. I essentially re enlisted for AFN, but received a by-name-request for the Pentagon assignment. Thanks for watching!
Damn I wanted this mos! I wasn't aware I needed a secret clearance. Too bad. I guess a grunt is my only choice.
What's stopping you from getting that clearance, it's honestly pretty easy, most things for secret are Waiverable.
What clearance do you need ?
I'm really glad I found someone who actually has this job and not just another go army video. I was orginally trying to go for the 25M mos and, because the job was so small, the job was not available to me. Now, I looked into the 25V a little bit, but my dad is worried that i would be defenseless while in the line of combat (since I will have a camera in my hands not a gun). The thing I wanted to know was how do they train you for that or is there someone that has to have your back?
Sunrain Bowshine only a select few actually go into hardcore combat, you’ll be just fine and this is the best job in the Army period!
And there's no control as to who gets selected, its just kind of a roll of the dice type situation? But I was really interested in this job, I just wasn't completely sold when it came to the part about me not being able to defend myself. How long have you been in the service now with this mos?
Sunrain Bowshine 8 years and I’ve never been deployed 🤷🏿♂️ I’ve done all kind of cool things in my career and picked up a highly marketable skill set.
@@TheOfficialRickyBowden okay well I appreciate your feedback. I feel a little bit better about this mos now
Sunrain Bowshine well hit me up anytime on IG @theofficial_rickybowden if you have any further questions.
Great video definitely informative I NEED to switch my mos asap😫
Now is a good time as we are a STAR MOS meaning we're understrength. Thanks for watching.
Awesome video bro! Quick question, if I were to buy a Sony a7sii, what one specific lens would you recommend? I wouldn't be able to buy multiple lenses until later on. I've heard a 50mm native lens would be the way to go
Thel Vadam My recommendation would be the sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 if you’re looking for that one lens. The link is in the description
Thel Vadam 24-70 or something like a 18-105. A good zoom lens that would enable you to do a variety of projects until you can get area specific lens
I just got this job today at meps was shocked lol my recruiters seemed to be too
Rain welcome to the best job in the Army!
Rain Going To MEPS tomorrow fingers crossed I get this MOS🤞🏽
This video was great, really informed me on the position. Now, I am soon to be graduating from NYU with a bachelor's in Film and Television. After speaking with my local recruiter, he told me that I might be a good fit as an officer. I would like to know what would a communications officer be doing compared to the 25V mos? I really want to be behind the camera but I'm not sure if i'll be getting that experience as an officer.
Zack Margaret as an Officer you will most likely not be behind or in front of the camera. You’d have to become a signal or public affairs officer to be in our career field and it’ll be mostly administrative duties if you become an officer.
You don't get to pick your career field as an officer thru OCS unless you are at the top of your class. (My brother was an officer - US Army) in other words - you are "needs of the army"
Hey Ricky, thanks for all the information. I am currently in PA in the Lehigh Valley area and wanted to know if the 25V mos is available here. Thanks in advance for all assistance!
I’m 28 going on 29 years old now and have earned my bachelors in Audio production but I feel like this MOS would help me sharpen my skills over all with my passion for media and entertainment production. What advice would you give to someone in my situation at this point attempting to possibly join the military for a better foundation and future?
SirCleophas Beats go Officer route
That’s me at @ 4:02
Now I'm a 19k but I hace a bachellor degree in TV Production. How much do you need of GT score to be in this MOS? Do you guys do rotations to Europe?
Portrait work is very slow since Covid. I’m honestly thinking about taking the leap. :/ Covid killed my dreams man.
Hey man so im actually about to reclass to 25V i know that it just merged with 25M but i am going from 25B anyway i could get more info on what you guys do now?
What steps did you take after high school into your career?
After High School I took zero steps, I joined the Army at 31 and went from there.
Do you know how often these guys deploy as reservists? Is there an option to volunteer for a deployment while as a reservist?
I am really intrested in becoming a 25V or 11X i really want to become a photographer when i get out after i join but i really want to join the infantry i have never wanted to do something more and be so certain than joining the infantry. Do you have any advice?
You think this is a good gateway to Hollywood? I’m currently in college with 1 year left in film school but the connections I have made are not good enough to get a job I want. Have you met film producers and or directors?
Hit up warner bros and take the paid 2 year apprenticeship and maneuver around to get to where you want to be
I'm a small business owner doing Videography and photography and I'm already trained in it. Would love to be able to do this.
Is there anything you can do to help improve chances of being deployed? And are you allowed to use your own equipment or only what the army gives you?
Jacob Bowen it all depends on where you’re stationed, but your chances can be greater if you’re airborne qualified
I'm thinking AB doing this for the Ohio National Guard
Is this easy to pass on the asvab
Dakota Savage yes very easy
Anyway you can get Airborne in your contract as 25V? Looking at this MOS right now and I'm pretty interested in it.
Fishing With Grizzly I am sure you can because I’m airborne and will getting this job
Talk to your recruiter about getting it in your initial contract. I wasn’t able to, but while in AIT my Drill Sargent (yes, you have Drills in ait) made a packet for me and I’m in Airborne as soon as I graduated from the 25v course
How much did you know about videography/photography when you joined ?
I actually re-classed from 68W into this MOS. I did a video on on it: czcams.com/video/Hi8huXho6Kc/video.html Thanks for watching!
Hey what category is 25v for the new pt test gold, gray, or black? I was thinking about switching from 12b to 25v and wanted to know
Denny moments not sure
Depends on the unit you are with. For traditional army, the standard (As of right now) is Gold, but if you are assigned as a 25V to a USASOC unit, the standard is that of usasoc (Black).
I’d love to do this job but I want to deploy. Is there a way to up your chances of getting deployed in this mos?
Tyler Sip yes we deploy! There will plenty opportunities especially at the 55th Combat Camera unit on Fort Meade, Md.
How many years do you have in now? Great videos, and very informative.
What's up Will! I've been for 8 years. Thanks for watching bro!
Is it still 25V?
46v
Would I have a choice of where I wanted to be deployed?
Depends on where you are, most cases they'll be multiple missions and you may get a say on which one you go
on.
Shout out to psyop 3rd battalion homie
Oh shit, Yall also are in 3rd Bat? what company?
If I were to get this job could I request to be more of a front line type job instead of news studio or something o that matter?
It mostly depends on where you're stationed, most likely your first assignment will be at a duty station where there will be opportunities to deploy. One you're in for a while you'll have some say in where you're stationed. Thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe!
Hey What's the minimum amount of years you have to stay in this mos. 2 years? 3?
+UNHEALTHY BOY COLLECTIVE 6 years I believe. Don’t quote me on it tho.
Hey My name is jaiquan and i'm very interested in video and photography i have my own business in both fields im currently 18 and i have been doing video and photography since i was 14 and want to connect with you regarding the military/MOS
If you are deployed what would you have to do there and how close to the front lines would you be?
I was a 25R but deployed to Afghanistan as a 25V (COMCAM). My job was to film action and the Afghan-US partnership.
I earned my Combat Action Badge within my first 48 hours outside the wire. You sorta become become infantry but with a camera and M4/M16. You have to be careful. There were times I didn’t even use my camera because I needed my M4.
These combat documentation MOS are serious business if you are in theatre.
How many promotion points are needed to become a sargent?
Google Army Promotion Cut off scores
Hey Ricky, I found your channel from Ty over there on Flashfilm academy. I'm interested in joining the Army and I want my MOS to be 25V. But i saw in the comment section of another video that 25V is combining with 25R. I can't find any information on that and my recruiter doesn't know about that either. What's the new MOS and how do I get it? Thanks for all your awesome content! -Jacob
Jacob Bradford 25S
@@TheOfficialRickyBowden Thanks, when I go to the army website it says 25S is Satellite Communication Systems Operator. Is the website just outdated?
Jacob Bradford let me check on it for you, I’ll get back to you on it.
@@TheOfficialRickyBowden Much appreciated!
@Jacob Bradford Hi Bradford, I am a current 25R and I work along side many 25V. We just got briefed on this a few weeks ago. 25R is not combining with 25V any time soon. 25R is more of a jack of all trades for the 25 series, and will remain separate. 25V is, however, merging/ just merged with the 25M (Illustrator) and 46A (Public Affairs) mos. So in combination with Photo and video, 25V are now learning multi platform illustration and how to implement it all into social media and news broadcast. AIT training for the MOS is now just over a year long as well. 25S is still Satellite and is totally separate. @The Official Ricky Bowden
93 in electronics, sheesh man i just took a practice test and i failed it lol i know nothing about ohms and voltage and circuit models and series parallel circuits! like why man? just why?
Procab focus on math and vocabulary don’t worry about that other crap
Down load the app Asvab 2019 itll help you with all the sections
What is the difference between a 25v and a 46s?
46s is 5 months ait 46v(25v) is 11 months
Is there chances of being deployed?
It's almost certain that you will deploy, especially under the current world climate. Thanks for watching.
Do you need to be an officer or can you be enlisted. Would being an officer make a big difference in what you do.
thanks. Leif!
Capture The World you don’t need to be an Officer, however if you are a Signal Officer in most cases you will not be doing this job. If you’re enlisted as ac25V you will most definitely be doing this job.
@@TheOfficialRickyBowden Thanks so much for the information.
So have you ever been to combat
No, I have not
@@TheOfficialRickyBowden that's a good thing.
How long is 25V training?
Gordon So 26 weeks

Currently a 31B (Yes I know y'all hate me lol), but anyway really not liking this MOS. Just not what I was expecting. Really looking into getting something like this.
Russell Wojciechowski check the in and out calls and if you qualify all it takes is a 4187. Good luck! Thanks for watching
@@TheOfficialRickyBowden Do you know if by chance if I can possibly switch while still under my current contract, is re-enlisting my only option?
Do you think this would be a good mos to set you up for a career in civilian life when you get out? I really love this type of stuff and can see myself doing it but I want to set myself for when I get out also.
It's absolutely a great MOS and transfers well to the civilian world. Thanks for watching
did this job lead to photography in the civilian world? is it a good transferable skill?[
