Do you ever get deployed in combat, and photograph actual firefights?
Dude! Really? First, thank you for joining, and welcome to the brotherhood (goes to the women also) safe journeys.
That being said,
You haven't been in the Army long enough to know a couple of VERY old adages "Hurry up and wait" & "Recruiters lie!" (Or at the least stretch the truth). Did you expect that you were going to show up on Tuesday and start class Weds.? Are you the ONLY troop in the class? Think, man; orders take time. Paperwork takes time, appointments to get gear issued takes time. Think of a chess match. To win, it takes a lot of moves, and you're not the one making the moves. You are just a pawn on the board. E-1s - 0-7 are ALL pieces on the board. So all you can do is follow orders, be where you're supposed to be, and lead by example. (Yes, even as an E-2) I know there's an adage never to volunteer. Sometimes there are exceptions to old sayings that old farts like me toss around. Good luck young.man!

Well, then this MOS would be perfect. You already have camera and editing experience so you should pick up fast and probably would learn some more things to make your videos even better. Not to mention all the amazing army videos you can start adding to your channel!
25v is no longer available because I am in one of the last classes. The closes to it is 46s now. The army is changing the mos.
As a reservist, would you say that your work schedule generally sticks to the advertised "One weekend a month, two consecutive weeks per year" formula? Or do they call you in for more work if they need it?

This is a super late response, but for me, no. My AT is typically 3+ weeks long and my drills are either 3-4 days and a few 2 days mixed in there, but I've been in several units and this one specifically is like that-- others are more straight forward.
I planned to go 25v but damn that shit never comes up lol. ive been waiting since july..
What camera do you get?
So I was also interested in this mos but, since I am trying to attend school after the army, I was not sure if going active duty for 6 years was really the good path. Now, is being in the reserves a whole different experience? Also, do you know what the coverage of the GI bill is for a reservist?
Sorry for the late response. Yes you get the GI bill if your a reservist and its about 350 a month.

Would you say enlistment as a 25V is worth it if you already have a bachelors in videography and media?
Well if you have a bachelor in videography and media then you must enjoy that field so you should make your job in the army something that you enjoy. As for as the AIT classes go however you would probably know everything 90% of everything they teach. But the experience of capturing images in different parts of the world and different business will be new. The equipment you will be using will be new to you.
nerdsq do you do any kind of of combat training / or have the option to do combat training since it is a potential combat job?
During my AIT I signed up for combative 1 and was able to do combative 2. At my reserve station we are able to do airborne, land nav, air assault, and many other training. But no even though it is combat camera there is no combat training. We do the same basic training as everyone else and during AIT it is just regular classes dealing with photography.
Is the contract for 25v 4 years active duty?
If you plan on going Active it is a 6 year contract but remember 1 year is just completing basic and AIT.

You sure you are looking at the right MOS? Because I can assure you that it is not 13 weeks

Yes but not right away. You have to phase up to get those privileges.

about 4 weeks if your not getting in trouble.

I sadly don't know that answer. I do know though you need to be able to pass a clearance to get this MOS.
