I just recently watched all the videos on the Whittaker family and it's honestly just sad. These people didn't ask to be born this way, and they clearly have some other medical issues on top of the inbreeding. Most of them are also non-verbal and should probably live with full-time caretakers, but this is America and the healthcare system sucks. Ray is such an absolute jewel though. Even though he can't speak, the way he tries to communicate and the ray of sunshine he radiates through his smiles makes me happy every time.
I think about Ray often. last video i watched he seemed very distressed and i remember reading that the guy who makes those videos (despite raising money to help them fix up their land) doesn't interfere or something? so i've avoided looking into updates in case Ray's health has declined.
