    Hey everyone,
    I’ll speak more on this next week but I immediately want to clear up any misconceptions.
    I don’t think Tate is a good person or a positive influence. Our conversation was a lot longer and parts were edited down so I think my explanations are coming across like justifications.
    Regardless I have no issue saying Tate isn’t a good person. Additionally I was trying inject some humor here and there but it was poorly timed.
    I understand if this was upsetting to see and I want to assure you all Im not in agreement/support of Tate’s ideology.

      Edit: obviously he’s said more controversial things but despite that, I’ve watched a lot of content and I believe Tate loves women, and many women love him back. It’s not his fault if actual woman-haters use it to justify their misogyny. Tate generalizes and exaggerates often for attention. He hasn’t said anything that warrants deplatforming, especially when his mindset and self development advice is helpful for so many. So, really the issue is that you people are irrationally sensitive to words and ideas that go against what you perceive as normal, and you then dedicate your time to trying to cancel someone for voicing his ideas. It’s pathetic

    I think Noel’s humor about Tate is jarring because it really hits home that even though guys like Noel of course don’t agree with Tate’s stupid, dangerous ideas about women, they still don’t *understand* how actually scary it is for someone with that rhetoric to be very popular right now, because they’re not the ones scared of men like him. It’s hard to be satirical about a guy who said he moved to a different country because it had less restrictive r*pe laws. It’s not all that funny when it comes down to it. But that’s all it is, not funny. Noel’s clearly doesn’t agree with him.

      100% this. It's extremely hard for me to listen to men who don't seem to take Tate and those who watch him seriously as a threat to women's safety. Pretty disheartening to hear. I hope Noel takes all of this criticism and learns from it that a better idea would be to take an extremely hard line against someone who doesnt even see women as people. I hope he also realizes that many women are absolutely terrified because of dangerous people like Tate and joking around about them doesn't actually help anyone or do anything in the long run.

      I agree as a man, that many men are largely oblivious to the intricacies of womens issues, and that’s something that guys like Tate frustratingly perpetuate. I fundamentally disagree with every single thing Tate says, however the very reason he’s popular points to a lack of effective role models and validation of young men’s issues. Women’s issues, while often overlooked, are very very publicly known and topical especially now as they should be. The reason Tate successfully garners the attention of young men is that in between his blatant misogyny, he validates their issues of isolation, loneliness and lack of meaning that society places on young men. I think the only way to ensure people like Tate don’t continue to grow in popularity is to not neglect mens and womens issues, and to provide constructive frameworks for both that can validate their issues in ways that aren’t toxic. That’s just my take

As a young woman who has passionately supported you, donated to you, and told other people to support you for so many years, I’m really disappointed at the passivity that was displayed in this episode. As a long-time watcher of the pod and someone who usually appreciates Noel's humour, his take on this was just straight up goofy. You aren't anti-tate because you don't believe that he'll have a harmful enough impact on the lives of women before the earth burns up? Or that misogyny isn't a big enough issue to be "fired up" about? I feel like Noel believes that the implications of andrew tate's views don't make it past the internet but there is real world violence against women that comes from tate's rhetoric and its not just something that women can "swipe left on and forget about." I just think that Noel's nihilistic view on this issue allows for neutrality and passivity on an issue that very objectively calls for condemnation. It's also hilarious to me that Noel has such a defeatist attitude towards misogyny when he's never actually had to live through it himself.

      I appreciate Noels pinned comment (saw it before the ep actually), but I just hope he sees that his joke about these young men learning that this "doesn't work in real world" is hinged upon the experiences of young women being traumatised by these guys and having long lasting issues as a result. These guys find out it "doesn't work" because they'll try it on young girls, who will be terrified and horrified to discover that a significant portion of young men out there view them as animals to be bartered over and conquered sexually. To critique Tate is to try and nip the problem in the bud so that these other young women don't bear the burden of teaching these men that it doesn't work. Personal experience: I was SA'd by a man who believed in the same things Tate spouts, and thought I owed him sex. I haven't been able to be intimate with a man since, I have delved into self harm, and I'm generally frightened of men as a result of that experience. This rhetoric has real world consequences and while I enjoy this podcast thoroughly, I think choosing to include these clips is just horrifically tone deaf. Noel, you say you had a longer conversation that was cut down, which I accept but it echoes of "it wasn't me, it was the editing." You are still the cohost and its up to you to approve what goes in. I fear for the young girls who will be assaulted or harassed by Tate followers before these followers realise it "doesn't work." It is not our responsibility to fix men, and even joking about it is really hard to hear from someone who's content I enjoy.

    The thing is, followers of Tate aren't going to go out into the 'real world' and instantly lose the misogyny they've grown up thinking is ok cause of Tate. They're just entering a system/workforce which is already broken with regards to matters of gender, and it gives them the power to treat all women around them like that. The issue with men like Tate, Jordan Peterson or the guys on various alpha podcasts is that they're teaching young guys that their success and stature is directly linked to the devaluation of minorities (women, members of the LGBTQ+ community and people with disabilities). It IS the sort of mindset from the 70s that's still nurtured and exists today (with a much larger platform), which is why major events like the striking down of Roe vs. Wade has happened.

    Not to Kid Cudi this but there's definitely a bigger picture to Tate. Millions of boys and men who view women as property and subhuman leads to violence against women. Even if it's just one, any is unacceptable. Noel is being really dismissive of a wider issue. Its easy to say women will ignore men like this but plenty of women will tell you that men will pretend to be someone they're not until one day they reveal themselves to be just like Tate. Also Tate is talking to teen boys who are talking to teen girls who aren't all going to just "unmatch" them because its a whole different level of maturity and social pressure than being a grown woman. Plus a lot of these grown men aren't going for the grown women anyway.

    • @babygrinchbinch
      @babygrinchbinch Před rokem +52

      also, the act of “ignoring” or “unmatching” men who are gross to you to you is not as simple as it sounds. nor does it keep them from going on to be gross to the next woman! not to mention the potential escalation into violence. it doesn’t give me much comfort that they’ll look like a loser when they try to pick up women, we’ll still have to deal with their harassment

    • @joshbotha283
      @joshbotha283 Před rokem +3

      While Tate's message can be very problematic and your concerns that his effect on young men and teenage boys could be harmful to the women they interact with are understandable,
      Tate is merely a symptom of a much larger and extremely complicated problem. There are not enough good masculine role models for young men and teenage boys.
      Andrew Tate is the the physical embodiment of what the progressive world calls toxic masculinity but simply defining him as problematic, toxic or dangerous overlooks any of the good he does for young men E.g. building confidence and allowing men to be proud of being men.
      Strong, hard working, self confident men are a good thing for everyone.
      Although his message is deeply flawed Tate is inspiring men to be these things and it is important that we acknowledge where he has merit as well as where he is problematic.
      And I believe that is what Noel was trying to do.
      The real solution to the demand for people like Andrew Tate is to provide young men with better masculine role models.

      @@IZZY-hi2gq I don’t think he’s TELLING men to hit women. I think he’s encouraging a mindset that does not view women as people who should be respected. That is a mindset that leads to violence. I’m not saying there are not additional issues at play but Tate is not a neutral influence. He validates these dangerous mindsets.

      Agree that men need more positive role models, this is a continuation of a larger problem, men should be allowed to feel strong and confident, but I will be overlooking the “good” because his harm is far more impactful and destructive.
      Many of the good positive role models get bulldozed as “soft” or “simps” by people like Tate and his followers
