How does the SB 4000 compare to the sb3000?.
I got my PB3000 the day before and I must admit it is a killing machine in terms of bass.
I have never heard something like this in my life. We Mauritian. We lack set up and brand. We must get same imported where it cost us lots in terms of shipping and taxes but frankly the PB3000 rock. I wonder how the pb16 ultra must be. Oh God can't even imagine.

I really enjoyed your test, the sealed subwoofers appear to have a more controlled response, I prefer the ported subwoofers with lower bass frequencies. I loved your video today.
Sounds very nice! Congrats! I just bought dual sb12-nsd's this past Saturday, they should be arriving Friday. Finally popped my svs cherry! Currently have Klipsch duals. Nice demos, R.P.O is my go to demo for now. But damnnnnn that blade runner 2049 is both a visual and audio masterpiece!! One of the best looking and sounding 4k blurays I've ever owned, not just the bass, but the actual soundtrack takes full advantage if the surround sound and atmos effect, especially if u have in/on ceiling speakers.

Except for all the rattling coming through my speakers it was well done. Sounded good with my sb4000. I had to get up to confirm the rattling wasn't my room😁. Luckily it was yours.

Hi and thanks for this video-demos, if you always have this setup, I think if you put the column speaker at *the edge of* (tomorrow 😁oups >>>) *your carpet* and this fabulous subwoofer turn at your listen point (turned towards you), you've get a better feel for the blast of explosions like the film Openheimmer for example.😉

That PB3000 really sticks out on your entertainment set up. That's a big boy! Don't forget to also compare SB3000 to SB4000 please! Curious if the SB3000 18hz compared to the SB4000 19Hz make any difference in movie watching. Another great video.
If one got a limited budget would two worse quality subs beat one good one? Since one no matter how it is just one.
I've been debating on 1 of these or dual PB-2000? I already have a PB-1000...I could also just buy an extra PB-1000, but not sure how that would stack up to a single PB-3000?
I purchased these after watching your video. After going back and forth between sealed and ported I have temporarily settled in Sealed Mode with these. It removes any hollow sound and the gunshots and explosions seem to have more "in the chest" transience , they shake the couch and walls with authority. I originally planned to get Sealed SB3000's but they did not seem to have nearly the same output as the PB3000's even when in sealed mode. In sealed mode the REW seemed to produce a more even response as well.
The SB3000's would have fit much better in my room and I would have got the Piano black to match my SVS Prime Towers. Upon putting the sub in the compromised final position I had lost a bit of the punch I had when they were both facing at me but did work with the EQ Wizard, Phase and REW to correct much of it. Still not sure if I would have been better with SB3000's facing directly at me vs the PB3000's sealed at 90 degrees from my listening position. But these things are beasts. When I bump the bass and watch movies like Knight and Day when the jet crashed it sounded like it happened in my living room. When there are Gun shots it has the same impact as being at the range and someone shooting in the next booth over.
The funny thing about owning these is you will no longer be satisfied with the bass you get when you go to see a movie at the Cinemas. Supposed to be better there but not even close!
I'm looking at dual PB-3000s. I think the pb-3000 is an excellent performer in sealed mode simply because of the larger enclosure size. I've read different forum posts and it seems to be able to compete with sb-16. In ported it definitely beats out the higher sealed line models in output.

That’s a tough one. The 3000s have more power and more output, but duals beat a single sub any day of the week.

Villa man! Will you end up keeping the PB3000? I hate that how big the sw box is... but damn I'm sure that low end power is worth it. I currently have the PB2000 and tested the SB3000. The SB3000 didn't have that low frequency response I was looking for. Really wanted to like it. Will be getting the PB3000 to test. But damn I hate how much floor space it takes! Love your videos. Interstellar doesn’t have Dolby Atmos encoding, Edge of Tomorrow has only been released as a streaming UHD version. Were you playing these clips through an ATV? Would be interesting to watch an updated version of this video, this time without upmixing and with an UHD disc as the source. For Edge of Tomorrow, the SDR Blu ray would be fine as it has uncompressed HD audio.
I just upgraded to dual PB-3000s and I'm still breaking them in. Lots of output for sure.

Mr. Villaman, I've noticed in some of your videos that you only run 1 sub, and I've heard other reviewers stress about running dual subs...I've always had a single sub, and I've always had cheap entry level subs, but I just ordered a PB3000, and a SB3000 to see which one I want to keep, but what do you say about using a single sub? I was going to buy the PB4000 on this past Cyber Monday deal SVS had, but the weight and dimensions forced me to choose the 3000 series. I'm just curious on your thoughts about a single sub?
Hey! Im actually running 2 sealed subs-- my SB4000 and a smaller Pioneer Elite sub as backup. I completely agree with having multiple subs to even out the bass response, because even with this much less capable Pioneer acting as backup to the SVS, it helps a ton.
That said, I'd choose the PB over the SB because it has more output and a ported sub can be plugged to mimic a sealed sub, but a sealed sub can't mimic a ported one. Hope that helped!

I rewatched blade runner 2049 up to last night on my dual pc2000's and it was awesome. I could only imagine what dual pb 3000's would sound like 😀

What levels do you have it at? Was it calibrated in your receiver?
Sub is set to -10 movie and receiver set at -1db speakers all set to small at 80hz
Well its sounds better when actually watching 4k disks vs movies on Netflix and Amazon
Gabe Salinas set the dB to -3.5 - 2.5 max . I called svs and receiver calibrates it wrong so change it yourself

Ahh man I’ve been going back and forth between purchasing a ported sub vs sealed... good sealed subs are expensive especially when you’re trying to find one that can get down to those deep sub 30Hzs, SVS is pricy so I’m starting to lean towards a BIC PL-200 II. And then down the line getting a sealed sub for Music... I’ll run both for movies and games and run the sealed sub when I’m to just listening to Music.
It’s not a good idea to run a sealed and ported subs together. Phase issues and all that.
I’d say save some more and get a ported sub. A ported sub can be sealed. A sealed sub can’t be ported.
tHa_vilLaMaN oh yeah never thought about the phase issue between 2 different kinds of subs... good point! Have you heard or know anything about the BIC PL-200 II? A lot of people say it’s a great sub for $300 and better than many subs that are pricier... it’s range gets down to 21Hz which is a bit more than most subs I’ve seen in that price range.
Mike Parana the bic pl-200s and the bic f12’s are great for the money and perform great. I had a f12 and loved it before upgrading to a svs pb1000

I'm planning to get 1 SVS PB 3000 just to hear how it sounds and feel but after reading your comment I decided not to get it per your suggestion. Question from a nooby, am I right in assuming the sub is powered so it does not go to the amp route thru the receiver the rest of the speakers go to the amp and then to the receiver. I know that is a long run on sentence , not sure how else to ask the question lol. But good video
Hey, we all have those kinda questions. Yea there’s a built in (800W) amp in the receiver. There’s a subwoofer out on your receiver and an LFE in port on the sub. You connect them with an RCA cable

So I would think if they block it, they are losing out on possible buyers of the movie. (At least that's how my brain sees it)

Hi Villaman, I've always followed your great reviews. Thank you. Please could you tell me if there's any sound output difference between the pb3000 in its sealed mode vs the sb3000 ? Would the pb3000 in sealed mode produce the same tighter, cleaner and natural bass like the sb3000 without an over exaggeration from the pb3000?
You've said, with a ported you get both sealed and ported. What I think (I could be wrong) is that the two foam plugs or inserts that transform a ported into sealed means the pb3000 really isn't as sealed as the sb3000 because there is a possibility of some level of air moving in and out hence foam consists of thousands of tiny holes as opposed to a sub that's completely sealed.
I'll give you the benefit of any doubt because unless i purchase both subwoofers, I do not have the opportunity to test them. Thanks you bro.
