    Great video, another Home theater gamer here. Finding this channel is a treat. You should definitely grow out your beard. I went with the PB 2000 pro since my room is moderate size, I contemplated the two but pb-3000 pro cost way more. Overall, I dialed it in fairly well, so now it's awesome. Once I buy a new house probably will go with pb 3000 pros

    The size of the sub woofer is important, however then there is integrating(tuning) the sub into the system and room. A small well tuned sub is far more pleasing than a huge sub that is "boomy, bloated and/or out of time with the other speakers. A poorly setup sub is like having an angry bear in your room. My bear isn't 100% tame yet, but getting real close. 😁

      It's a slippery slope for sure, Kevin! I actually haven't had the time to do tweaks I've wanted to do for some time now because I end up spending HOURS. There are things I've been reading up on/watching videos on that I want to do to my audio system (basically a full manual calibration and time alignment of all speakers), but I KNOW that it won't be a quick process so I haven't done it haha.

      @@HomeTheaterGamer Brad, It sure does take a ton of time to dial everything in just right. I was thinking I might be missing some audio details with my crossovers being too high. Yup, sure was. I lowered my ear level to 50hz and my ceiling mounted pair(Atmos) to 60 and what a surprise! Every sound is much more accurate and the deep base is tighter. Going from 100hz on the ceiling to 60 made the most difference. Might not work for everyone, but sure helped here.
      I wish I had the money and time I'd come over and give you a hand. It would great fun to learn from the master. Besides, you might have a better pizza joint than I do.

    the PB-3000 is a better sub all around than its 2000 brother but it's the mid bass where it really flexes. it's basically 6 dB louder across the board from 31.5 hz up and the critical 40-80 hz bands where we can really get slammed in the chest shines through.

    @hometheatergamer thank you for the great review. Also perfect timing as I’m looking at adding another sub. I currently have a pb2000 pro in a dedicated theater room (11x13x8). I listen at 75-80db. Would you recommend adding a second pb-2000 pro or maybe 2 sb 3000s (due to space limitations). Either way I plan on using REW with mini dsp to tune it using your videos!
    Any thoughts are much appreciated.

    • @HomeTheaterGamer
      @HomeTheaterGamer  Před rokem +2

      Thanks for the comment! Our dedicated theater rooms are around the same size, and while the PB-2000 Pros sound great in the room, the added "oomph" and low frequency extension of the PB-3000s were noticeable. Dual PB-2000 Pros will be able to pressurize that room if set up correctly, but the PB-3000s will hit harder at louder volumes. So in all honesty, either will work with the PB-3000s offering more output, but that's also going to depend on how loud you like to listen to stuff at. If you tend to listen at louder volumes, then I'd go with a 3000 series subwoofer personally.

    Curious if you have thoughts on PB-2000 vs SB-3000 (mostly for movies). They are the same price and wish I saw a better comparison of these two. It looks like the SB “only” gets down to 18hz vs 16hz for the PB. But practically, wonder how perceptible that is. And would the 20% larger woofer area and higher wattage, split voice coil execution would overall make the SB-3000 just as impactful/enjoyable. Also it’s smaller package (considering I’m planing to go dual subs) is a really nice bonus for a small-ish to mid size room. Though one question is that would I need to run the SB at higher gain levels and loudness to get the same type of impact I might get from a ported PB-2000. As much as I enjoy deep tactile base, I don’t want to have to share the shear volume with my neighbor (more than necessary 😂). Anyone’s thoughts on this comparison would be greatly appreciated.

    I've gotten the PB 3000 a little over a month ago and got it calibrate using the auddessey editor app and it sounds alright but I think I can get more out of it. My room is 12x12x9 and running a 5.1.4 setup. I've also seen your video using the mini DSP and Rew. Do I need to use those tools to get more out of my Sub or is there something else I can do without those tools. I do 99% home theater and just want to get the most from my sub with out making things worse.

    • @HomeTheaterGamer
      @HomeTheaterGamer  Před rokem +2

      Thanks for watching and commenting! For a single subwoofer, a miniDSP really isn't required outside of for select circumstances (mainly people who want a lot more customization and control), however REW and a calibrated microphone is pretty essential to getting the most out of your subwoofer. It's really, really difficult determine if you're making things worse just by using your ears, especially when it comes to bass and subwoofers. The EQ before/after results in the Editor app are also rough approximations at best, so using something like REW will get you a much more accurate result and let you know what's going on in your room. But using REW can also be very time consuming, so it's up to you to decide if you want to go further down the rabbit hole or if you're content/happy with how your subwoofer currently sounds.
      In the past when I was only running a single subwoofer, I too was always trying to get more out of it. It sounded good but I always felt like something was missing. Turns out, what I really needed was to add a second subwoofer. Not saying that's what you need/want, but if you're constantly feeling as though you could get more out of your subwoofer, then more than likely it's because you have some pretty nasty nulls in your frequency response that can really only be smoothed out/fixed by added additional subwoofers.

      Thanks for responding back so quickly. I also have the Klipsch SPL 150 that stopped working and I had to take it back to audio advice where I bought it from (luckily it was still under warranty) but that's why I got the PB 3000 while I'm waiting to get it back. I guess when that happens is when I'll have to incorporate it in to my system and journey down that rabbit hole. Thanks to all video's you have to help me along the way.

    So the 3000 has same rated extension as the 2000 pro but it does so at a higher SPL, which probably explains why you felt the 3000 more. I’m not an expert either, but I feel like manufacturers should include SPL with their measurements?

    • @HomeTheaterGamer
      @HomeTheaterGamer  Před rokem +1

      SVS actually does include SPL measurements in their graphs on each subwoofer page and you can see the increase in output of the PB-3000 really easily. I thought I had included those graphs in the video, but for some reason those 2 layers got turned off in Premiere Pro so they didn’t make it into the video. Apologies for that.

    2:01 “..if you are listening to Bladerunner 2049 at reference level..”. Can you be more specific about “reference level”?

    • @HomeTheaterGamer
      @HomeTheaterGamer  Před rokem +1

      So I wasn't more descriptive. Reference level is a calibration term. If you run Audyssey, Dirac, YPAO, etc., your "reference level" is commonly at 0dB (decibels) on the receiver. That means that at 0dB on your receiver, each speaker reads 75dB (which is also what the media industry defines as reference level). This is really, REALLY loud for homes in smaller spaces and non-treated rooms, so most people don't listen at this volume level. But this is what the audio denotes as reference level, so it's typically used as a standard for volume calibration of each speaker.
      It's also worth mentioning that many receivers allow you to change the volume scale from Relative (using the dB scale as mentioned) or Absolute (using a simple 0-98 number scale with no correlation to decibel level).
