Touchscreen, on the other hand, personally, it is more dangerous as some infotainments can be clunky and lags which can be frustrating - based on experience too.

Next year in 2025 there is a new CX-5 coming out, with a rumored hybrid from Toyota. This car because it is so old is known for it rock solid reliability. If you want to have a reliable SUV that will last 200,000 miles, this is your car. You want something more modern and maybe not as long-term reliability, look elsewhere. We just looked at the CX-5, Honda CRV, Toyota RAV4, and Hyundai Tucson. The interior of the CX-5 and ride sold my wife on the Mazda. If we can get one for the right price, we will probably buy one next year.

Wife's car was 2016 Mazda 3 GS. I fell in love with it while I had a 2016 Tucson and a 2018 Tiguan. Tiguan crapped out so bought the CX5 GT in 2023. She now has a manual Mazda 3GS and our son inherited the 2016 Mazda 3 GS.
Why I love this car is because it's tried and trued. Independent suspension and independent rear suspension. It's probably me favourite car having owned a CRV,Tucson and a Tiguan.

And what's so revolutionary about a newer chassis, compared to one from only 10 years ago? If anything, newer vehicles are worse because automakers in-general are cutting more corners than ever, & using cheaper materials than ever to keep costs at a point for maximizing profits. As an example, my (less-expensive) 2015 Toyota Yaris SE hatch 5-MT (with older Toyota tech & design dating back to early 2000's) was a *much better* vehicle than my (Japan-built) 2020 Corolla SE sedan 6-MT (with the new TNGA platform, etc.), which I ditched after only 2 years & 10K miles due to so many problems & quality issues.

Got the top spec turbo 2023 in Sonic Silver. Love it. Not sure what your issue is with the 2024 steering because mine is perfect.
I made some fabric seat cushions to keep my butt happy on the leather seats.
No touchscreen in mine is no issue at all. It has wireless Apple CarPlay and that can be used successfully with voice commands for both Navigation and Apple Music.
Radio stations can be favourited and then selected from the steering wheel.
Appreciate it can accomodate a full size spare Alloy wheel though for now I’m ok with the temporary spare.
The radar cruise control works as required. Lane keep assist I don’t bother with, I know how to drive and don’t want the car telling me what to do.
Speed warnings are great and very useful.
If I have any criticism it is that the plastic and chrome door trims are not durable, they scratch very easily. I’ve had PPF put on the gloss plastic and have to take extra care when cleaning that and the chrome door trims. Mazda need to do better there.

Just drove one of these yesterday. The HUD also shows alerts in the appropriate corner to designate presence of another vehicle (kind of a supplement to blind spot monitoring,) It will also show the next instruction if you are using navigation (i was, via Apple Car Play). Towing: Careful on your CRV ratings. 1500 lbs for the 1.5L turbo. It drops to 1000 for the CRV Hybrid. And you lose any kind of spare tire with the CRV hybrid in lieu of a "tire repair kit". Terra Cota looked nice, but not sure it is the best match for the exterior shown. IMO, it's livable but would be a better match with white. The rear seat room is probably smallest in class. Sitting three across would be tight (and as noted, block the USB ports). Leg room is scant. If I sat behind myself, my knees seriously hit against the front seat back as I tried to get in. Once in, I could splay my legs out and "fit", but it is tight back there. I'm 5-11+. All that aside, it drove really great. I drove a Forester Wilderness right after driving both the turbo and normally aspirated CX-5, and it felt like a truck. I drove a non-Wilderness Forester a few weeks ago, and I think the Wilderness is less responsive and feels more mushy than the other Forester trim lines. It feels like anything you buy in this segment may have compromises, and you'll have to choose some things to give up. None of the CX-5's come with fog lights, nor are they offered in the Mazda accessory listings. The headlights are "adaptive" in that they turn as you turn the steering wheel (Foresters have that too, but they add fog lights). But, Subaru, in the infinite wisdom of the Marketing Dept, decided to quit offering the XT, so no turbo option. The 2.5 Boxer is "adequate", pretty much like the 2.5 non-turbo CX-5. On the Subaru side, the 2.5 becomes, IMO, INADEQUATE in the Outback, which is trying to drag along another 450-500 lbs. The did make an XT there, but it lacks the feel of my current Forester XT. Looks like the CRV hybrid can get you to 60 in the low 7 second range, and handles "almost as well" as a CX-5 with more room, but there is that towing capacity, lack of spare, no fog lights, and some reliability hiccups. I haven't fully checked RAV 4, but as far as I know so far, nobody else offers a HUD in this segment outside of Mazda. Good luck in the mighty car hunt folks!

I love the Terracotta leather interior & I wish they were available without the middle portion of the seats being black & Terracotta instead. The Caturra Brown leather looks so dark in the Signature it doesn't have enough contrast compared to the black door panels & dashboard. The doors & dashboard desperately needs an ambient light strip retrofit to the doors & dashboard of break up the sea of black in those areas. It looks way too monotone & darker than it should be

I don't like the safety features. The vibration Sterling wheel or lights coming on letting you know you are drifting over the white line. Solved those problems by putting painters tape over the devices that set those off.

Any problems with the radio? Specifically, have you been able to turn the radio OFF? Not merely mute it but turn it off? Pressing the volume knob for three seconds turns it off but 1) the Mazda Connect screen turns off, and 2) when the car is restarted the radio is on with the last station playing. The radio should have been turned OFF!

Just bought a 2024 Turbo Signature. Don't regret the decision at all, but I do agree about the seats not being the most comfortable (the CX-50 had more supportive bolsters) and the steering feeling a little "mushy" (as compared to the 2012 Mazda3 I had prior). I also agree the options available on the different trims missed the mark a bit. The Carbon Turbo only comes with the terracotta interior and the Turbo Signature only comes with the brown interior. I don't really care for either color and would have much preferred black or white, but went with the top trim because it was the only was to get a 360 cam on a turbo.

The point around touchscreen being safer is a bit dumb especially coming from one of these guys who own a Mazda. If you primarily use the apple / android auto, the dial is very easy and intuitive and does not require you to take your eyes off the road. We own a CX5 and an Accord (with touchscreen) and I prefer Mazda's dial any day.

Also, we got our with zero interest under $39,000. It sits well for my body, not as comfortable for my husband, how he said he's driven worse 😂. However, he love driving it!!!! Ive tested the Rave4. I'm team Mazada, never thought I'll say that.

You haven’t used the car long enough. It is easy to develop muscle memory with the knob. Also the CVT may save some fuel economy but the conventional automatic tranny is a more tested and proven design that is more reliable than CVT. Give viewers a fair view!

Here's the deal with the cargo floor: You can install it in two different positions.
The "high" position rises above the fixed floor in the rear corners where secret storage cubbies reside, but you'll also notice (hidden from view) open voids to the spare tire well. This is because the subwoofer is installed underneath the spare tire. This configuration also places the floor at the same height as the doorsill, to ease sliding items in and out.
The "low" position makes the floor flat with floor in the corners and eliminates the voids for the subwoofer. The floor is recessed from the doorsill, so you'll have to lift items instead of dragging them out. I suppose you get slightly more cargo space in this configuration (for slightly taller items?), but poorer subwoofer performance. The secret cubbies are still accessible in either position.
Having these two configurations makes shopping for a cargo floor liner difficult. If you get the one that covers the corners in the low position, it won't work in the high position. And it would block the subs and the cubbies. So they make models that don't extend to the corners and just jut straight out, but then the corners are not protected in either set up.
And BTW, the Zircon Sand/Terracotta combo is AWESOME! There's nothing else on the road like it. Haters gonna hate!

I want a change in my vehicle and Mazda has intrigued me but I test drove Signature CX5s a few years back and the seats unsold me. Someone said put a seat cushion in. I told them that spending 40k+ I should get a comfortable seat. No hybrid either. Now after 4 years they still can't fix their seats. I hope the CX70 hybrid can remedy this persistent problem. My existing vehicle won't last much longer.

I’m kind of in a crunch right now In need of a new vehicle bc my 2013 Nissan Altima conked out on me 1 too many times over the last few months. I’ve replaced valve cover gasket, spark plugs, coils, crankshaft, multiple batteries, more recently the alternator and one week after the alternator it’s the transmission. Tired of throwing more money into it. Mazda came onto my radar as of recent but idk what the best bang for my buck is that fits in their line up with my needs. I live in Houston and I drive often. Maybe 15-18K miles a year. I have a 715 credit score through Experian. I don’t wanna pay more than $450 a month but I want a reliable SUV since I have 2 toddlers. I don’t care about all the bells and whistles. Anyone know of any good models that can fit my circumstance? Preferably Mazda. I don’t mind putting maybe 2-3K down but that’s the most I’ll go.

IMHO, the Carbon Turbo (unless you truly love the exclusive paint and leather colors) is a waste. For only $800 more, you can get the Premium trim, which includes the following (I didn't include the heated steering wheel since Mazda's website does state that both the Carbon and Premium have it).
    Windshield wiper de-icer
    Automatic power folding side-view mirrors
LED map, dome, and cargo lights
    Heated rear seats
    Traffic Jam Assist.
