    Unfortunately i know a lot about rykers and trailers. (i.e. my 1st 45 days of ownership)
    But on another note. The most amazing awesome thing happened on my way to work yesterday 10/13/20.
    Got on the hwy and ran into 5 harleys.
    They slowed down to (75-80) so i could ride with the pack. U talk abt a freaking awesome 25 min ride.
    Great vid Beth 👌

    I did (un?)fortunately manage to fit my broken down Ryker onto my neighbors 5’ wide trailer to get it towed into shop. The tires ever so slightly dragged along the frame of the trailer. Not ideal whatsoever, but completely manageable if no other options. Your trailer looks fabulous in comparison! Definitely going to look into getting my own of a similar size. That extra breathing space is 100% worth it.

      Btw, no air was let out. We cranked it on with a come-along and certainly had no room to spare. Turns out the rollers for the drive belt had fallen off somehow and were tumbling around. This resulted in power issues from 0-18mph, as well as a “autopilot” throttle stick that cruised the Ryker to cruise along at 12mph by itself. Anything above 19mph tho it drove perfectly fine. Very odd. But very glad to have repaired. Just sharing in case it benefits anyone. Thanks again for your vid!

    I had to trailer my bike to a dealer 100 miles to get it fixed (the local dealer, well…..I digress). I’m here to tell you, the 5X8 steel wall trailer Home Depot rents was a perfect fit. It was as if it was made for the Ryker. The fold up ramp does come shockingly close to the taillight so make sure to Ratchet strap the front as tight to the front wall as possible (tires hit front wall so that’s not an issue and trailer has strap points in corners
    I originally went to UHaul and rented the 6x12 trailer only to discover the bike would not fit because the ramp is only 57” wide, yes, 57” wide on a 6x12 trailer. I rushed it back, rented the Home Depot not expecting it to work and was pleasantly surprised when it was perfect.

    Love the video and location. You will get a much nicer towing experience if you put the bike further back, basically straddle over the trailer axil. You will reduce the sway potential since it is a single axil. Also you will reduce the load on the receiver. The trailer tires will also last longer. Basically its just safer all round

      Hi Sharon! Thanks for watching and I need to see a pic of your bike....I bet it looks awesome! As far as towing, you'd need to read the specs in your car's manual or call the dealership and ask them what the towing capacity is on both cars. Another quicker option is to rent the bikes when you get there. I knew I was staying a month, so it made sense for me to trailer my bike. Hope this helps!

    Another great video with lots of info that will help alot of people. I'm glad you mentioned you weren't showing proper strap technique. I'm no pro but acouple things I've personally learned, and I have the same trailer alittle wider and longer for my can am x3. The edge of the trailer is sharp and vibration from the suspension moving up and down or just the road can cause the straps to rub and cut when crossing over under or wrapped around the upper bar. Also going through the rim I experienced wear from rubbing and had a strap break I believe just from rubbing on spoke or something. So take caution in those areas. Last thing no one can agree on is leaving it in park or neutral . This is a debate in the off road forums as well.

    Something Id like to mention that I havent seen commented on. I learned the hard way...watch the angle of the tailgate where it meets and attaches to the trailer. If the angle is to steep, the bottom, (in my case Spyder F3T) of the bike being only 4.5 inches from the trailer floor , will bottom out at that point and in my case it bent and ripped the bracket that holds the reverse actuater and does a bunch of wierd stuff. Could not ger into neural or any gear, threw codes. Needed a new reverse actuator and buds to get things back to normal...costly unload. I now raise the front of the trailer with the jack screw and handle to decrease the pitch angle of the tailgate so its more of a flat run. Watch this video again and notice how close the bottom of her bike gets to the tailgate and floor hinge.

    • @RykerRydes
      @RykerRydes  Před 3 lety

      Wow! That’s scary! I guess I got lucky that it cleared. I also know that a quick fix would be to put a piece of 2x4 under the ramp, where it meets the road. This will help lessen the pitch of the tailgate.

Might be a good way to secure the bike to the trailer in a pinch, and for a short drive, but I agree with other comments that the weight should be centered just slightly forward of the axle...for less weight on the tongue, and more stability. Beautiful trailer at a great price. We live in Central Florida but have a vacation lakehouse in Milledgeville Georgia 100 miles East of Atlanta so we know how beautiful the scenery is here and all the hilly/twisty back roads. I’m trying to figure out how to trailer my scooter up here once a month and your trailer looks ideal if we had a hitch. Like the extra deck space to catch items that vibrate loose. How fast do you go when trailering? Our lakehouse is 350 miles one way so we don’t want to go less than 70 mph. A beautiful motorcycle area is Hellen, Georgia an Alpine like town with great restaurants and a river for tubing if you like that stuff. I’m going to tell my wife about your cameraman as that is my faux pas occasionally.

    • @RykerRydes
      @RykerRydes  Před 3 lety

      Thanks John, always good to get your comments! As for trailering on the hwy, you can go as fast as you are comfortable with. 70 mph is very doable. You just need to be aware of the extra space needed to change lanes. Also, reversing in a trailer is crazy hard (for me anyway). So practice before you get on the road.

    Wife and I just got back to Jacksonville last night from the mountains, not Georgia, but NC, Boone to be more exact. We visited Grandfather Mountain and "The Blowing Rock". Of course we rode the Blueridge Pkwy some and just some back roads. The leaves were in full bloom which made my wife happy. Wish I could have trailered my Ryker but we drove our Solstice GXP which is a blast to drive as well. You have given me more incentive to find a trailer to take the Ryker up to any part of the mountains in NC, TN and or GA. So, how did you do in the curves? I figure our Rykers should be a workout in the tight stuff. BTW, if you are still up there and have a chance you must ride Wolf Pen Gap Road (SR 180 from Suches). Look it up, it's a favorite road of mine.

    With trailers you want to keep most of the weight on top of the axle,they pull alot better and gives less weight on the car reciever. If you wave it balanced just right you should be able to barely lift the trailer off the car with out using the trailer jack . I would recommend moving the ryker to the back of the trailer allowing the trailer to be balanced .just try it on you next time out and your pulling vehicle will handle better you will notice a big difference. The ratio of tounge weight is 10% of the complete loaded trailer ,so with the ryker and trailer your probably looking at about 1500lb. So your tounge weight should be around 150 lbs at most.im guessing your toungh weight is around 250 lbs.

    • @RykerRydes
      @RykerRydes  Před 3 lety

      That is interesting. Your numbers are correct, but it makes more sense to me to put the small Ryker towards the front to keep the hitch well connected? If it were a car, or something bigger, then have it further back?

    You might want to read your trailer manual on tongue weight. Your loading to much weight on the tongue will make your trailer get squarely. Your weight should be over your axle and slightly forward to load some weight on the tongue. Your manual should tell you what your tongue weight should be. On your trailer your tongue weight should be 270 pounds.
