Thank you so much for tuning into this episode of How Married Are You?! See you next week!
I just want to acknowledge, the way you elaborated on community and village for your family is so beautiful. That type of village is wealth.
HappY New Year!!!
A prenup also separates debt in death, so debtors can't hound the living spouse. It's really not a bad idea but we attach this divorce expectancy to it. I don't have one, though, lol.
Lol ….yes 😅
Hehe lol
it's also to be understood that america itself has the highest divorce rate..divorce has been somewhat praised in this country, so it's more a mindset than actual stat. i wholeheartedly agree with glen, if failure is always in the back of your mind you will fail. if your foundation was built around a "maybe", it will struggle to stay together
I'm over here adjusting my screen brightness only to realize it's your lighting 😂😂
Just watched first minute and had to stop to comment and say - I LOVE how Yvette is blossoming. Woman, you are some beautiful! Back to the show...
I’ve heard several people who have gone through a divorce say it feels like death. I’ve never heard a dead man say how death felt.
As an entrepreneurial family, it would make sense now more than ever to get a prenup - as a risk management strategy for the family. If one person were to make an unfortunate financial decision, the whole family wouldn’t be exposed to the risk of losing everything because some assets would be in the other partners name.
Having a community and village…My husband and I were just talking about this yesterday. I grew up with a village, whereas my husband not as much. I so appreciate growing up with a village of people.
thank u for changing it from jessica to latisha
32:21 I like the comment Glen made about becoming a better person for your partner ans not for everyone, in general. On the other hand, because we are becoming better for each others, those in community or network may be recipients of this better version in some way.
Things are often set up for a house wives to be lost financially if you don’t plan for all the what ifs…no matter how much love you’re in
I'm not married, and I am not sure if I want to be, but if I did, I would suggest both parties get it. Perspective and the story you tell yourself matters. As a lady, I'm always going to lookout for myself because idk what the future holds. (Ie greedy family, health, etc) No matter what, I gotta have me. I'm not offended if my partner wanted to have himself by getting a prenuptial, too. It's a wise decision, in my opinion. I don't see it as an escape plan. Some do, but not me. Staying ready so you don't have to get ready.🤷🏿♀️
I don’t think they mentioned it anywhere, but the divorce video they were talking about is on the Soft White Underbelly channel!
Marriage was created in Genesis, to be exact though.
Agreed. If we’re bible believing Christians, and we believe the account of Adam and Eve, we should be backing the fact that marriage was instituted at the Creation of mankind, between that man and that woman.
This is a very good conversation. I can identify with Yvette here.
Glen said,” We are conforming to each other…”
Snap snap!!!
"...it's making you a better person for ME" 😮 🎤
The jail analogy is 💯

I just started, but the intro song is such a vibe. I find myself bobbing every episode. I hit like during the intro before you guys even get started 😊
Very nice. 😊 Very good information.
i already know that uncle Johnny Givez was one of the people Beleaf said hell nah to when Theo & Riah were talking about people who can teach them how to date women 😂 Great episode!
Peace & Blessings throughout 2024 and may you & yours receive abundant prosperity in good health, wealth, LOVE, and happiness. HAPPY NEW YEAR! And I thoroughly enjoyed Ep. 205.

Happy New Year !!!
1. A newly wed who has no prenup be a we are building our life together but had hard conversations due to premarital counseling. Most people I know have hard conversations after and never had premarital counseling. I wish there were statistics on how many people actually do premarital counseling/have a Godly foundation.
2. I love how you talked about community and village. I grew up with communities because of doing a lot of activities/sports growing up but not a solid village and now with my husband who grew up with both… I’m now getting used to having a village. It’s very necessary for marriage, family, and life. I wish someone had that conversation with me when I was younger!
I feel like prenups are necessary & so are wills. Just look at all the young ppl who died during covid, didn't have a will & their partners had to go to court just to get access to their money. As Yvette said, I think it's just important to have a plan.
I’m not getting the notifications when yall premiere something 😒
As a true partner, I want to protect my significant other from whatever. So I personally think, we should not be surprised or feel a way when our significant other wants to protect themselves from us. Me and my wife have the same understanding "I love you, but I love me first" so I'm going to continue to protect myself as if I wasn't married point blank period. So if someone ask for a prenup it shouldn't be looked at like "oh you don't trust me, or you don't have faith in this marriage" nah it's just a form of protection for self and that should be respected. Just like couples still should get tested for STDs and HIV, like why would you not? most insurance covers it for free so if I'm going to the doctor for a general check up, I'm checking for everything whether I'm suspicious of my partner or not and I suggest my partner to do the same. It's just logical for me, safety nets are in place for a reason and protecting self is necessary just as much as protecting "us" is necessary.
I want a village for my son.
Still no link to the video, I assume you're taking about that Jordan divorce lawyer guy tho

I wonder if having student loans are influencing some people to get prenups.
Evette: You already have a prenup if you signed a marriage license

As a Christian, prenups should be a no-go. Given that the union to us is way bigger than a legal contract - it's a covenant with God, 2 become 1. So a prenup is like having a plan B to God's union, a plan B to God's plan. Both sides work their entire life to prepare themselves what they join to in marriage. Whether one is a billionaire and the other was a post office worker, God prepared their lives the way He did so that when they join and become 1 it works out the way He purposed it to. We always lose sight of it when we say these billionaire vs below median incomes because money starts blinding people which is what the enemy wants. Now, if you're not a Christian, then do your thing. Still wouldn't advise it but go along with your governing doctrine. I am a Christian woman who is an attorney and I was taught in law school allll the benefits that come from a prenup - "you can get the legal out the way and focus on the love part during the marriage, blah blah blah", it all sounds enticing, especially from a legal/fiscal perspective, but as Christians its about our faith in the covenant that we are entering into with God. We died to self when we gave our lives to Christ. We died to "me" when sacrificed it at the marriage alter for "we".
I don’t have a major comment or opinion on this just yet, but wow! This is super insightful
The thing is how marriage works in the western world there is all these financial ties to it that didn’t exist back then. So a prenup is pretty smart. This is about surviving capitalism. Not having one foot out the door.
As a Christian I agree with what you said. As a mom with daughters who have worked hard to get where they are in life and now 40+ years old, with what they are experiencing in the "Christian dating world" I would have no issue if they choose to get a prenup
Girl... marriage started with the trinity and in the garden...man manipulated it to fit their needs and desires...go back to its creator to understand how to do it towards righteousness... marriage fails because we look to the standards around us to measure success...LOOK UP...look to the word!
Happy New Year!
