Britney is 39 years old! Let her be. If she messes up, then she messes up. A lot of people do. Dad is just afraid of losing the source of his income.
@Green Mamba Games With all the concerts and shows she's performed, people on her staff that she's payed, this woman is capable of taking care of her own self and making her own damn decisions. She shouldn't be daddy's cash cow anymore, don't you think? It's about time her family stopped mooching off of her. They won't even let her get married and have a baby with her boyfriend or take a few years off as she's said she wants.
@Green Mamba Games what does that even mean? There are SO MANY public figures (including politicians!) who are horrible influencers on the human species at large, yet they’re not stripped of their basic rights and exploited to maximum levels.
@Green Mamba Games What are you trying to say? Conservatorship is not about influence in the media or public image. This is not a matter of public opinion, this is a legal process, with juges, courts, laws and arguments.
@Green Mamba Games So if you become an influencer then you should lose all you're basic rights? Because that's what you're implying here
"Brittany is 39 years old!"
Me (younger than Brittany); Higher
I feel really bad for Britney. Her family is abusing her to keep her as their cash cow. It’s despicable and disgusting.
With the help of the courts.....
it's like modern day slavery, the gladiator who entertain crowds to survives
Hum, perhaps you've heard of the Jackson family?
Yeah a conservator ship is supposed to protect people from being exploited and abused and hers has done nothing but exploit and abuse her
@@Balletified Exactly. It's utter BS.
This is so sad. Britney is 39 and basically still subjected to "child abuse." Her parents were taking advantage of her waaaay before she became of legal age, and then they found new ways to continue to abuse and take advantage of her. "Her team" should be *thoroughly* investigated. 1000 bucks say that most of the decisions they were making for her were only good for *themselves.*
This is slavery. A grown person put under other's total control - mind, body and material - while earning money for them.
@@MTMF.london Yup. Agree 100%. Court sanctioned exploitation.
This is beyond child abuse, in her own words, “The only similar thing to this is called sex trafficking … The people who did this to me should not be able to walk away so easily … I’m not here to be anyone’s slave. I can say no to a dance move.”
czcams.com/video/zUvdc6eCSWE/video.html !
When she went "nuts" when this first all started over a decade ago she did need parental guidance, control, structure etc she was losing her mind.... but it's clearly gone on for far too long!
Stephan’s little “message to the court” should be seen by the judges making the determination before a decision is handed down. To be capable enough that you can do multiple Vegas shows, tours, new albums, choreography, etc & while paying everyone in your life whether you want to or not just proves that it’s long past time for the conservatorship to go. Yes, there was a time Britney may have needed help, guidance as well as remove any bad actors from her life but is seems those people have turned into the bad actors themselves. It proves the old axiom…money corrupts.
@dkay Agree. The one appointed to protect her has gone too far. Why does money always corrupt people? They have become the villains in this true Hollywood story. I hope she gets her life back, and can tell them all “go to ****”!
And it is not only about conservatorship that has been put on place without proper independent evaluation. It is about them making her work 7 days a week 10 hours per day without vacations and keeping her on dangerous drugs, while they claim, she is so sick she is not able to make any decisions for herself, and can't even shower without their surveillance.
I haven't followed her career, but I was truly surprised and impressed by how many albums she has made. Anybody working that hard for that long is not in need of conservatorship over her rights. She truly has a family of hangers-on being vultures to benefit from her life's work. They have been keeping her in psychiatric servitude. Forcing her to go on Lithium and constant blood tests and surveillance is out of line. The worst thing she ever did was shave her head, and I can tell you there are scores of kids on CZcams who have filmed themselves doing that just for fun. Nobody has put them under conservatorship.
Yes, they had gone to far, she's capable of handling her life now.
Analysis Well Done👍👍👍👍👍stars
I hope Britney is able to not only get free of that crazy setup, but also get some form of compensation. That "team" clearly did not have her interests as priority. Tthey only wanted to cash in

The situation with Britney Spears is so bad. The typical conservatorship lasts 1 year sometimes two. People frequently go into recovery in 6-12 months on meds and there is no need for a conservator. Her doctor could've told her to challenge it after 1 year. 13 years is obscene and we know her whole family "works" for her father. So sick. They even dictated that she had to use the cheapest paper towels possible. The feed off her. At 36 she needs to build up retirement.
Apparently her lawyer never told her she could challenge it

She's worth $60 million, that will cover her retirement.
It's not just Brittneys conservatorship that needs to end, the whole system is broken, with thousands of disabled adults in the same situation as her, I had a friend with an abusive family, whose mother was able to control him with just the threat of getting him declared incompetent.
And the mentally ill.
Phoenix Kiger: And sometimes slightly disabled young adults are placed in state guardianship because judges, group homes, attorneys ad litems and other state agencies are making thousands of dollars per ward. She's still worth $60 million, it's her money, she worked her ass off for it, it's hers not her daddy's.
That's why there need to be strict safeguards and regular reassessments on conservatorships. Because the whole point of it is that the subject is regarded as being unable to speak for themselves. So when they cry out noone listens. That's why this lawsuit is a godsend for her: She can speak on a public stage and on record. And she's STILL getting hamstrung by her having to pay her adversaries.
@@richardjones2455 how is she worth so little. Her shows make 200M per year
Not only should Brittany be released from the "conservatorship", but civil and criminal charges should be filed against those that wronged her.

I have seen service plans for people with actual disabilities be less restrictive than what Britney goes through. This shit should not be legal.
I can't believe this conservatorship was able to go on for this long. As a fan of Britney back in the day I remember the breakdown and she did need help. This was never what she needed. It's amazing that she has made it through this time essentially on her own while the person she should be able to trust without reservation, her father, has instead made her life a living hell. That she's come through it seeming in realatively good mental health is a miracle. They need to give her life back to Britney to control.
Wasn't the breakdown a result of already being controlled, not the reason she became controlled?
One key flaw is assuming that someone's sperm leading to your birth automatically makes them trustworthy. Same can be said for the egg. I was born to two horrible people who should never have had children and shouldn't be around *adults* either. They have no contact with me now, no say over anything to do with my life, and can make up all the stories they want about how I'm a fallen soul / acting out because I'm bipolar / whatever bullshit they feed their friends aka the people brainwashed enough to stay anywhere near them. As I hear the details on that "Conservatorship" I keep asking myself: How on earth could that be legal?
I mean, I'd get it if we're talking about a minor, but she's a grown ass woman now, that is in no way a proper way to treat an adult.
John Oliver did a segment on conservatorships, but there *is* a need for them sometimes. My grandma died of dementia and had she not put a medical power of attorney into place (and my aunt invoked it), we would have had to argue for a conservatorship, she was spending money on buying sooo much junk from the sweepstakes companies, got scammed at least twice for around $80,000 (so it wasn't a horrible thing that she'd opened 16, count them sixteen, bank accounts in the 3 years between then and my grandpa's passing. But it was bad that 3 of them were overdrawn....) Sometimes there is no winning situation.
@@mwater_moon2865 Like I said, it'd be one thing if its a child, or in your case, a relative that is not in full possession of their faculties. But a thinking fully grown adult in full control of their mental faculties? come on. Everything needs regulation and limits and Conservatorships shouldn't be an exception to that.
I do think it's possible for it to be bad for a child too (if such a thing exists in that way), specifically tons of parents have taken their children's money inappropriately before, like child stars who never see a comfortable adult life
czcams.com/video/zUvdc6eCSWE/video.html !
@@mwater_moon2865 I'm glad a power of attorney was an option. You're absolutely right that a conservatorship would have been appropriate otherwise out of love. Unfortunately, conservatorships are extremely prone to abuse. Jessica Kellgren-Fozard here on youtube has a great episode about it. If I remember correctly, it goes into more detail than John Oliver did. She also has the perspective of someone with disabilities who advocates for better rights and support systems. I highly recommend it. She really communicates how terrifying an idea a conservatorship is for anyone with a significant disability. Often even family members often use them abusively, just like Britney's father. We certainly need something but I vehemently believe we need something else. Something created by disability advocates and legal experts to make abuse less likely.
Living like that for a decade would drive anyone a bit crazy. Yet any outburst she makes can be used against her.
Institutionalized gaslighting! Lock the dad up!

@@pattyayers I am not a music fan of Britney's (just not my kind of music) but her album titles, lyrics, and so on have been telling a story for a long time and have a message. Just like many musicians, you just have to listen to the actual words and full context to hear it.
Britney's situation is appalling - she deserves full freedom, dignity and the right to live her own life. I hope everyone is aware that her situation is not unique and that there are many people in the same situation often due to disability or mental illness who have been inhumanely deemed as incompetent, had their autonomy and dignity stripped away, and are not permitted to make decisions about their own life or fertility.
The fact that we allow parents to exploit their children and let them be celebrities at such a young age is appalling. We put to much emphasis on fame and fortune. Let kids be kids. Is our entertainment that important?
Yeah they drug them and electoconvulse their brains and then next comes the lobotomy. Medieval Torture. How is that helpful?

@@npage. I suspect its more likely they may be very concerned about what she will spend her money on...Specifically, drink, as she was described by a LA judge recently as being an “habitual, frequent and continuous” user of alcohol
Thank you, Linden. I deeply appreciate the understanding that Britney is NOT the only person in a similar situation. I went on SSI to be assured via Medicaid that I could afford my medication no matter what. However, while I have never made (nor does SSI pay) enough to live on, any money or assets I inherit when my parents die will NOT go to ME, but to a trust managed by someone of their choosing (supposedly in my interest!); this person will make the financial decisions- FOR my own good, of course. Because of my mental illness, supposedly I am not only incompetent- I am also too stupid/illogical to notice the obvious conflict of interest there and set-up for being fleeced out of what would otherwise have been mine.
It's another of the subtle, intricate ways that being sick will make you poor and being poor always costs more and makes you poorer. VERY obnoxious: to know these things, yet lack credibility (because I'm "crazy").😠
So far my (crazier) parents' best ideas have been my sibling and a private company. In a family full of aunts, uncles, cousins, adult friends.. but I'm incompetent because I have the diagnoses.
Mom's idea of "reportable income" includes a $50 Target giftcard as a Christmas gift, even though I told her Social Security does NOT want to hear about every thing you got for Christmas; to the private management place- which is FOR-PROFIT, so of course they steal your money as "operating costs" (because it's SO HARD on their little heads to rent a space, employ people and make all these *decisions!* )- you have to submit a REQUEST for every expenditure; then, THEY(!!) go purchase whatever it is you need! THAT is SICK. Mom asked what I thought I would be needing money for anyway?
- I said "a lawyer."
Sometimes I feel like walking away from everything, just to be done with the loneliness of being surrounded by what I've come to view as lesser beings for their lack of insight and fortitude, and for their denial of things which should be obvious to sentient beings.
And if my family weren't in denial of their own dysfunctionality- that they have put me in a "scapegoat" role, regardless of what's wrong with me- they might be able to see that what they are doing is setting me up for failure once again, refusing to listen when I'm telling them EXACTLY what I need, once AGAIN. It sucks sometimes: being the only member of a family who's been forced to improve herself.😒

@@Redridge07 like his cousin, his career got screwed badly.
🤣
Oh ouch! My sides!
I'm not surprised with Rudy....guy thinks a family reunion is Tinder.
Wow. Colbert using Britney’s song titles is smart.
and so cute
That last bit with the Spears albums was sheer genius!
“Clearly she’s a danger to herself and cupboards” I CAN’T
Rudy hit rock bottom, but then he remembered that shovel that he picked up at Four Seasons Total Landscaping
Pretty sure he's one of those killer clowns everyone was freaking out about a few years ago.
There's a poem I read many years ago that I actually wrote on the inside of my bedroom door. I read it almost every night recently. "I've hit rock bottom. what's the guy to do? I certainly can't go upwards, so I'll try digging through!"
Good one, although he will just use it to dig himself deeper into the cesspool
Spit out my drink at that.
He got off at the porn shop next door, and sent his career to the crematorium on the other end.
No the whisper is amaaaaazing!
Live is the best way to see Stephen's genius.
The Britney bit was the best I have seen from late night in a VERY long time. Fantastic!!
Gives me joy to her Colbert's producer chuckling after that "dildos have come home to roost" joke. He was my favourite in the lockdown shows.
Seeing him here is a little weird now. He's energetic again. I did enjoy the small peek into his personal life, it really humanized him. He's a great father and overall family man. The fact that he can become this character on a daily basis gives me newfound respect for him.
same, everytime i hear his laugh now mixed with the audience it makes me so happy cause I didn't think we'd ever hear his precious contagious laugh again haha. Love Mark/Chris!
I'm surprised Rudy's High School hasn't suspended his diploma, frankly.
I doubt they gave one to suspend ;)
would still be qualified to lead the republicans in insane ideas
I think his supsenders are more qualified for that diploma than him, lol
czcams.com/video/VGLR0YVxyXkh/video.htmlhhh
Did he even graduate?
Stop! Stop!! I can’t stand laughing so much….my stomach hurts!! I’m on the floor!! You are priceless Stephen!!! 😂😂😂😂😍😍
It takes serious effort to piss away your "9/11 Mayor" prestige.
Grampa Joe: "Employers said they can't find any workers. *whispers* Yeah, pay them more."
My broke minimum-wage self: "Ahhhhnnnn yesssss daddyyyy say it again!"
What happened to "free market economics"? That is, when supplies cost more a business is entitled to raise its prices.
Oh, wait. That's for businesses. Not individuals whose supplies (groceries, gas, rent, etc.) have gone up.
People can joke but, Biden's whisper did its job in spreading his statements on social media.😉 I'll take a Whisper over a Loudmouth, Lying, Ranting Moron, Everyday!!!
@@AnnieWarbux like FDR said "Speak softly and carry a big stick". Biden wants to make life better for the working man and he's doing everything he can to do that. Biden just doesn't want to keep bringing the stick down on the republicans and is hopeful they'll come to him with some sort of comprise. Even if they never do
@@darkhorsedouglas4789
That was Teddy Roosevelt, not FDR...
I draw the line at calling Biden daddy.
That last bit with Brittany's albums.....brilliant!
Stephen, as a fan of both you and Brittany, I laughed harder at the end of this monologue than I think I had any other time throughout this terrible year. Thank you. And also #freebrittany
I congratulate his writers for this - it. Is. Priceless.
He’s not a lawyer, he just plays one on TV. Good for you, NY. Now disbarr him nationwide!
If he’s disbarred from NY he cannot practice law anywhere else in the United States. Unless he has a bar license in another state. Which I don’t believe he does.
Licenses are given by the state. Now, he can't practice without going to another state and passing the bar.
That's not how it works... Licensure is at the state level, there's no national license. Some lawyers are allowed to practice in a few states if they passed the bar in both or meet some reciprocity requirements in the other state(s). If he lost it in NY I think that would be his only license and he can't practice as a lawyer or hold himself out as a practicing attorney unless he gets reinstated by NY or if for some reason another state would grant him a license. Which might be tried as a political stunt in a pro trump state.

@@JammastaJ23 We just need to wait for the Legal Eagle episode on this.
Jeeez. I had no idea this was happening to Britney. Wow… I’m speechless. Give this woman her freedom already. If she then messes it up, well, its her life to mess up.
Whoever came up with that Britney song statement is genius!!!!! 😍
The use of the song covers was pure genius!!!
It's not creepy! I love Biden's Lean-In-And-Listens!
I miss the quiet desperation that was A Late Show. ;)
Isn't it refreshing that Late Night Comedians can make fun of the President's creepy habit of whispering into the mike without said President sic'ing the DOJ, IRS on them or whining on Twitter like a pathetic snowflake?
Breath of fresh air
Biden would laugh at the joke, too.
Yesssss
czcams.com/video/zUvdc6eCSWE/video.html !
You think they let Biden use twitter? xD
Thank you God that Stephen is back in front of a live audience. I missed the energy of the live audience.
Say what you will, Biden whispering’pay them more’ makes a kinda sense. Imagine making a little more money is controversial. Why?? Costs of living are up up up, but wages, nah. Who needs to eat? Or have a roof or a wall or two?
Kinda like that ASMR speech.
He was trying to not sound boastful. But whispers give some people shudders. I am one. But I still like Joe. He can whisper anytime in my opinion.
Liberal ASMR needs to be a thing.
*taps nails "Renewable energy."
*rustling brush "LGBTAQ rights."
*soft breath in your ear "Living wage..."
Goals!😊☕️
You said it it's like they've practically want people to go live in their cars and then arrest them for doing so😐🙄
@@rhov-anion Talk dirty to me.
"Traditionally" roads go both ways.

YESSS those single covers...bop after bop after bop.
The fact that she's basically imprisoned for the same mental health issues that I'm recently diagnosed with is ridiculous. Sure, sometimes people need help for a while. But what happened to her has gone way too far. I'm getting help from my care team. Real help. But because she has money, she's become a cash cow for her dad. It's gross. Mental illness doesn't mean she's completely broken and incompetent. And quality treatment should give her a good quality of life.
One, when was Giuliani ever in anyone's grace? Two, I feel so sorry for poor Britany. I sincerely hope she can have a better quality of life.
He was like...person of the year in 2001 after 911. It's safe to say he was in a lot of people's good graces.
Yeah, and he was thought of highly well before 9/11, too. 9/11 was actually probably the beginning of the end of Giuliani's golden age.
right around 9/11 people used to call him america's mayor
Right after 9/11. There were even whispers of him running for President. He was popular among both political sides because he frequently went down to Ground Zero to aide in restoring NY back to normalcy instead of just making decisions from the comfort of an air conditioned office. His downfall is kinda a shame but is of his own doing.
@@femmebrulee5053 Those whispers turned into Donald Trump.
I really do hope britney gets out of this conservativeship.
FREE BRITNEY!!!!
And, thank you Stephen for supporting her!!
The Brittany section at the end was brilliant! Good writing...
I love the fact that I can now pick out one guys laughter in the crew over all the audience. You need to keep his laugh, it's so good!
From candy to board games to records...in our home, Mr. Colbert garnered the slow clap standing ovation, of delight and admiration, for his Britney Spears album peel away. Respects for The Late Show team and best wishes for Britney Spears (and all persons held hostage - in one way or another - everywhere). Bests xoxo
❤
This 'Conservatorship' needs a conservatorship .
Britney is legend. She needs to be saved at all cost.
I’m glad we can still hear that one guy laughing in the background from the quarantine version of the show
That was Stephen's son, I believe
Well done as always. And Britney should be giving her life back.

Sorry. Excuse me while I go punish myself
She’s been “giving” her life

I think this may be one of your best monologues ever. Love from 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧❤️❤️❤️.
So good to see you standing there again!!
I am fully on board with
Whisper aside Biden.
Most media outlets won't give him credit when he actually deserves it so I can understand his frustration lol
At least he's not shouting at everyone.
Pretty sure he was trying to be sarcastic
I think that's actually Biden's loud voice. Anyway, that whisper deal makes him interesting, imo.
Thats the thing as a kindergarden Teacher I learned early that sometimes to get people to listen you have to speak softly... if they have to shut up and concentrate to hear you they will actually hear you, even if all they want to do is argue.
Isn't he a breath of fresh air?
Remember that CZcamsr who made that "Leave Britney Alone!" video many years back? We laughed at him then. Turns out he was absolutely right. What is happening?? #freebritney
I did not realize that was a guy...
He's doing good for himself too.
Wow, Stephen so creative with that Britney part 🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️
