It's better business this way. Colbert only gets a single spot on trending anyways at the best of times. So they maximize the chances of getting the trending spot and maximize revenue on the video since they surpass the 10 minute and other benchmarks. It'll likely give more, in various ways, than 3 lesser videos in this case.

You aren't wrong; Christian groups have been trying to fearmonger for decades on a number of subjects, but it feels like they really got amplified after 9/11 and the rise of right wing media. Like, as 9/11 was still fresh in the minds of Americans, there were "Christians" in the media speculating on how the gays, pagans, and gypsies were the true cause of the attack and eventually how Katrina was God getting back at the growingly liberal U.S. Plus, "family group" leaders did often get good airspace from O'Reilly and co. (like with the "Spongebob is gay propaganda" thing).
