Meyiwa murder trial: Phone records under scrutiny

Proceedings in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial will continue in the Pretoria High Court this morning. Yesterday, cell phone records of the 5 men accused of killing the soccer star, once again came under scrutiny.

It is getting very interesting from two perspectives:
1. While the accused’s cellphone activity is a good step in the right direction, the state has to get the details of the discussions to o prove their case beyond reasonable doubt
2. The state can longer wish to continue without charging Kelly because the calls link her directly to the accused, and the worst issue for her to explain will be why they tempered with evidence - including taking Senzo to hospital probably knowing that he was already dead.
So for all intents and purposes the people that were in the house will have to account under oath, and we know that some have already contradicted themselves in interviews and under oath. Only the other docket can clarify most issues, and the state cannot proceed without the defence pushing for it to be in court sooner than later
